  1. Fran has just posted a update about this on Facebook.Theyre still working on it.
  2. All 9 of mine have arrived safely from Hornby. The initial order was with Rails but as soon as I got a sniff of the goings on there I immediately reordered through them directly.I am sad because I would love to purchase through a local shop but there simply aren’t any in North London anymore.Im old enough to remember Beatties in Southgate,Wood Green,Watford,HA Blunt in Mill Hill..all gone.So Hornby it will be for me for the time being.
  3. Hornby have taken payment for five of these so hopefully not long now!My second most anticipated 2020 release behind the APT.
  4. I’ve just ordered D9008 from Rails.Theres just something about that factory-fresh look that does it for me,going back to a photo of D9000 outside Vulcan foundry in the second edition of Rail magazine from December 1981,or thereabouts. And I have spent many happy hours around 1979/1980 at New Barnet and Hadley Wood watching these mighty beasts rumble through.I spotted the whole set capturing St Paddy just two days before it’s withdrawal.Love these beasts more than I can say.My Uncle Dick spent his entire working life as a fitter at Finsbury Park.Others will be purchased.
  5. Thank you!So that A and B variation completes the coaches I take it?
  6. I'm looking to build a full length 1989 train in original livery.Would somebody be kind enough to tell me which coaches I need to order please?

    2021 hopes

Get a streamlined Coronation set out there to go with those A4s.The original Mallard was my very first Hornby train, for Christmas 1979.
  8. Hunt couplings.Often admired.Never mispronounced.
  9. What was the coach arrangement on Rocket?Mine arrived today as well.
  10. No Passengers though-wouldn't you love some people in these things? LNER Coronation for 2022 please(no typo just acceptance)with the Beavertail coach. And some Passengers.
  11. The X500 also powered vehicles in the Minic Motorways range, where it was called the "Jet Speed Six".
  12. Thank you.Just like to be prepared for these things.6220 “Coronation”turned up Thursday and caught me on the hop a little bit!
  13. I live in Barnet,so naturally Im interested.Rode these many times in the early '70s when my Mum used to go to Oxford St and drag me round C&A(always skilfully avoiding Hamleys...)
  14. Another of the unsung genius which made all our childhoods so enjoyable and memorable.Thank you.
  15. A large collection of APT memorabilia was sold a couple of weeks ago, including a few ties.Id imagine this is one of those.
  16. How many coaches did Rocket run originally?
  17. Ive been hanging out at New Barnet station a lot these last few weeks(even made it as far as Welwyn North yesterday while waiting to collect my Sister-in -law from a job-what a great station that is!)and Ive noticed a awful lot of 5-car running on the sets,or two 5-car units coupled together. The Azumas really making its mark on the East Coast mainline now and is a beautiful train.
  18. Anyone remember "Little Cornwall" that was in The Signal Box,Newquay,in 1964?
  19. I don't wish to sound ungrateful or anything,it would be fantastic to have the Generator coach too.
  20. I'm really excited for this model, well done Hornby, excellent choice!
  21. Ive just realised the Rainhill celebrations were 40 years ago this month, where does the time go.
  22. Ive read that people are retreating back into their childhood and all the Hornby umbrella groups have been doing great business off the back of that.
