  1. I'll certainly throw some business your way when things are settled.
  2. I ve ordered all 9.It would be rude of me not to as Ive been asking for models of these beautiful trains for years.I hope by doing so we may get the full LNER Coronation train next year.
  3. I'm fortunate enough to have a bound volume of "Railway Modeller" from 1964.There are a few interesting snippets and articles, including a article on modifying coaches from December that year.Given the 10mb limit on files Ill post them gradually.Heres the first:
  4. Damn,it looks sad in this photo-it actually looks sad!!
  5. Did it ever run with a gold front and the window band at the other end do we know?
  6. Funnily enough it now looks identical to the one in the painting on the cover of the 1965 Tri-ang Railways catalogue!!
  7. It's nice to see you posting here again Kit.
  8. Regarding when the black window surrounds were first fitted, all I can add is I received one of the very first APT sets in October 1980 with the gold surround, yet the photo on the instruction sheet showed a model with the black surround which of course was launched next year as the train pack.
  9. Wonderful!!Thank you so much this has made my day!Practically everything you'd want to know in one concise article.
  10. Probably.Could you try it again please?
  11. I read somewhere that the wrong coaches were put in the display box,it’s something they are aware of and it will be corrected by the time these are delivered. More interestingly(to me at any rate!)the blurb mentions Rocket was originally released as just the loco,R.651.In the 40 plus years I have known of Triang Railways I have only ever seen R346 and 346C,I’ve never seen the locomotive boxed on its own.Does anybody know of any samples out there?
  12. As I understand it only the complete train is available when it comes to Mark 4 coaches. No prices yet.
  13. Thank you for this!I remember a copy of Railnews, from November 1980,that had a pull-out special on the APT that ran to about 8 pages, and had diagrams of full trains. My Uncle bought me it home from where he worked as a fitter at Finsbury Park about 2 days after I bought the Hornby set.I wish I knew what happened to it.
  14. I remember writing a letter to the factory in 1981 asking when the rest of the coaches to make the full train were coming. So that's only been a 39-year-wait...
  15. Not at all, this 54-year-old says "Hold my Beer!!" Ive been giddy all day with all this Hornby goodness!
  16. I'm in for the complete train from Cavalex and nothing will change this.
  17. This is Hornby best-ever catalogue for me,and I go back to 1978.Theyve delivered on the frothing lists, that's one reason.I woke up this morning in a state of anticipation but fully expecting to be disappointed,as every year. And then I began seeing them-Advanced Passenger Train,Rocket,Hush Hush! Its wonderful!!Could only be bettered by the inclusion of the De Havilland Trident from the 1964 Model Land range, but no matter.Maybe next year.
  18. Ive just noticed that Kato in association with Peco, have just dipped a toe into the U.K. RTR scene. This makes me very excited as for many years at Warley I have observed and loved their various Bullet Train models, which are not only superb to look at,but also superbly and ingeniously marketed, thus encouraging to complete a full rake rather than discouraging,as many seem to do.There can surely be no greater way to announce a arrival than a full-on model Englands own Bullet Train, the APT-P.Its almost like it was meant to be.
  19. If it makes it happen you can put me down for a N gauge AND OO gauge!Ive never had a problem putting my money where my mouth is when things like this are concerned.Ive always loved this train, theproject, everything about it,ever since first reading about the prototype in "Look and learn"as a 8-ye ar-old in 1972.I was heartbroken when it was cancelled in 1985.My biggest regret is not travelling on any of the Euston to Glasgow runs back in the day.I have all the models of this,Hornby and Rapido,it will be a joy to add a model made to today's fantastically high standards.
