  1. I’ll have Mick.I can’t remember his surname to my shame, but he was great freinds with my Uncles, one of whom,Richard Finlay, worked at Finsbury Park as a fitter and arranged for me to cab a HST with him and his mate Bob to Doncaster in May 1981.One of the best days of my life.He lived around Potters Bar and was a Top Link driver.
  2. The Engine Shed has gone right downhill even since last year.I keep hoping to see something in-depth about the history of the LNER Coronation coaches history and development into a model like they did with the Coronation Scot but absolutely nothing.I thought they would have made a proper song and dance about those.
  3. I think this will be the best mass production model of any locomotive yet.
  4. I managed to grab a set.Are all the RTC coaches covered now by the various manufacturers?
  5. How are the driver/secondman figures for the cab coming along?
  6. I have D9004 on order with Rails.I have a feeling it will sell out and become sought after.Love the purity of it.I’m looking forward to Saturday at Ally Pally and the chance to pick up and handle the finished article. My Uncle Dick Finlay spent his entire working life 1940-85 at Hornsey and Finsbury Park MPD working on the trains as a fitter and I used to love watching them at New Barnet and Hadley Wood. You could hear them from miles away with the wind blowing in the right direction.Hope they come with some drivers and headboards/Thistle.They are beautiful and look correct. Many thanks to you all.
  7. The second Simon showed the picture of the LNER Coronation observation car I logged in and ordered the whole thing.I don’t know if that makes me a bad person or not but I secured one.
  8. I saw a 755 Flirt going south through Welwyn North a couple of months ago.I did a double-take!Shame I didn’t have a chance of a video or photograph.
  9. The first glimpse I had of it was as a 13-year-old in the 1979 Hornby book of trains and I’ve coveted it ever since. If they are to the standard of the Coronation Scot coaches we are in for a treat. Many thanks Hornby!
  10. I’m hoping to see either a Silver Link articulated coach set or the full LNER Coronation train.
  11. “Bloke in a paint stained overall” is a great username you know.Right up there with “Mr Tilt”. Many thanks for all your hard work. Its appreciated here.
  12. Hornby need to change couriers.Hermes are the worst available.Very nearly lost my set of all 9 Coronation Scot coaches in April,it was only by chance I found them sitting in the middle of the floor in my local Newsagent which serves as a delivery point, and when they delivered my first set of APT coaches a couple of weeks ago, despite being in all morning they said I wasn’t at home for the delivery at 10.35.Later that afternoon, while chaperoning my elderly Mother-in-law across our busy road to the Doctors and waiting outside the house for her,the Courier arrived with them while I was standing there.
  13. I wonder how many Hornby will sell off the back of this?
  14. Will this be featured on the Hornby TV series does anyone know?I would love to see more about all the research that has gone into it and would think it would make for a great programme.
  15. Just found out about these, fantastic!! Im definitely in for a set in Malachite Green.Great to see refreshingly different choices like these.
  16. Thanks I was just looking for this list!I want to make the Tees Tyne Pullman with the as delivered D9008 from Accurascale.
  17. I had to attend a funeral in Wrexham a couple of weeks ago, sadly, but as Chester was 25 miles away, and a town I had never visited,I thought it would make a nice diversion, and my Girlfreind likes Cathedrals anyway,so all good.Typical of the run of luck I’m experiencing at the moment,APT wasn’t present,as it was away being repaired I was informed.Still, great layout as others had mentioned, just a shame my main reason for visiting wasn’t present.I should mention it was due back that afternoon but I didn’t have the time to hang around to see it.
  18. I’m actually old enough to remember when the original APT came out in 1980.Funnily enough the catalogue itself was delayed that year, appearing in April for whatever reason, and with no social media or anything it just dropped literally out of the blue! The model itself appeared in October that year. Bachmanns Blue Pullman was announced around April 2010 and was delivered in November 2012 so we are by no means in record breaking territory regarding delays and it’s good to have something to look forward to.
  19. That’s great, thanks for letting us know!Well,it’s been this long so a while longer won’t matter much,to me anyway.
  20. 36 years later-still the Boss!!
  21. Mark 3 coaches all day long.Please.
  22. The Blue Pullman.’Nuff said.
