  2. Two more Matchbox coaches converted to 009 tonight. Not much, but it keeps things ticking over...

      Pictures in a thread?

  3. Was reading recently that former Government ministers have the right to buy a red dispatch box for their own use after leaving office. Given that there must have been some Government ministers over the years who were model railway enthusiasts, I wonder if there's a dispatch box with a layout built inside it!

Wouldn't they have to take the handcuffs and frilly underwear out first?

TBH I've wethered the changes and now got used to it (as I suspect have most users)... and plan to stick with it.. prefering it to the other hosts.

  8. In an interesting twist on the Portillo continuity gaffes, have just looked at the photos I took of the Boys' Brigade trip on the Prospect Park Railway. Same train in both pictures but in the space of half a lap the Boys have changed order on the carriage!

  9. Has spent an enjoyable hour driving Microsoft Train Simulator and watching the red lights on my CBUS module go on and off in relation to the train speed. All I need to do now is to build a controller and calibrate it...

  10. is one step closer to his goal of being able to drive a train on his layout via the Microsoft Train Simulator! :-)

  11. "Lost" signalbox/fiddle yard control and train-sim interface software completely rewritten (almost) from scratch in little more than a weekend. Still work to do, but at least I'm back now to where I was before the hard drive failed...

  12. Well, that's it. No more steam through Reading station now for 12-18 months :-(

  13. Has managed to photograph two Ffestiniog locos today without going anywhere near Wales!

Pity the track separation in the station area was too narrow for my idea of using case catches to secure the fiddle yard. Have to see what else I can come up with...

  17. last night passed the statue of his favourite British artist on the way to seeing his favourite Australian artist on stage :-)

Thank god when I saw this earlier today I thought you were going to reveal it was Kylie! Wrong artwork.

  18. Watched "Racing Legends - Colin McRae" this evening. Very sad to see poor old XM603 apparently rotting away - when I did work experience at Woodford 20 years ago a group of guys had got her into a smart condition and were able to taxi her :-(

The programme first aired between Christmas & NY 2012. Chris Hoy mentioned his 6 gold medals so was probably filmed some time after July. But if she's been moved and tidied up since then, great! :-)

I understand some bits were removed to keep XH558 going - I wonder which bits?

I believe she's now only got two engines for starters! Not sure what else is missing though, nor which bits have gone to XH558 and what has gone elsewhere.

  20. Watched the programme about the WHR and now watching GBRJ from earlier this evening. With Dan Snow to come, is it any wonder I don't get much modelling done these days?

  22. productive week or so's modelling on the layout in my Dad's loft. Double auto shuttle fitted and working, progress made on the main line signalling system (albeit not as much as I would have liked), and well on with the scenery on Board 2..
