  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-40227412 --- I don’t suppose HRH will be in a two car unit, all stations...

Hoped against hope that the rumours on Monday weren't true but sadly they are. Currently spinning Spirit of Eden and will move onto Laughing Stock and the solo album before bed. On vinyl of course.

I only have Laughing Stock and the solo album on CD, but vinyl for the others. A 12" single or two somewhere as well.

Laughing stock is a strange semi official pressing from around 10 years ago. Solo album vinyl was a re-release not too many years ago.

Recommend in a similar vein I Trawl the Megahertz by Paddy McAloon (Prefab sprout). Sadly though the recent release are all miss pressed (off centre).

  3. Beginning to realise I'm going to need a lot more track...

  4. Taking a close look at some recently bought Bachmann BR wagons, love the details, I'd not spotted before the dates on the panels, amazingly fine print and my terrible short sightedness allows me to read some dates, 1979, 1980, spot on for my period 👍

  5. The reality is, surely, I am never going to build enough layouts to justify the variety and quantity of stock I own... but do I have the resolve to part with so much of it 🙄

      ruggedpeak

Amen to that brother, I am in the same position and steeling myself to offload stock for the hypothetical layouts that may never get built.

  6. well that's that, decision made, more O gauge track ordered and a catch-point... rather than using up all my loft space for OO I'm going to focus my efforts on a small yard for a 1930s LMS South Wales branch in 7mm :-)

  7. 08 15 33 42 55 58 53 -- bit surprising no lottery ticket buying railway enthusiast had these numbers on their ticket, if they had they'd won enough to buy a real deltic...

I'm so behind the times- I didn't know they'd extended the numbers into the 50s.

But you could choose at least 28 numbers between 1 and 59 that refer to tops locomotive classes

I too had 21st March in mind AND apparently there have been more snowy Easters than Christmases in the last century or so. I will nevertheless say that it does feel like Spring today.

I remember a good 6 inches of snow fell at Easter in 1981, in Wiltshire!

Radio 4 is where I was at but I'm finding it's getting tedious, and Radio 6 - on digital - plays some top toons, including some of the old stuff!

  17. been boxing up some of my stock in the loft ready to make some progress on the boards and proper track laying at last - I cannot believe how much stuff I have acquired over the past few years, it's a bit sobering really...

Having stuff is good ... and healthy. Not having stuff shows a lack of ambition and imagination. It is also a well known fact that you cannot have too many locos

Yes, the numbers are a bit scary - best not think about it too much. I feel better already. In fact now I have cleared the board of stock it looks a little empty... another 3F would keep the other(s) company.

  18. Chuffed - just bought "35 years of NIR" book at RPSI open day today. Been looking for a copy for ages...
