  1. Best place to get some idea is on Twitter using @eastmidrailway, I think that's right, if you view 'latest' comments.
  2. At the moment would be better employed working for EMR! If the Twitter comments are indicative of things currently
  3. In a week or two's time it will be 40 years since the Woodhead route closed and 30 years since we first took Deepcar to a show
  4. Hopefully it won't impact on us over much, decided when the 'emergency' started that anything we don't need, as in discretionary spending, which comes from China will not be bought. Therefore no new trains for me, but seeing as this is about as involved as I get in model railways now it doesn't matter. Wife however keeps buying junk from Amazon that she 'needs' for presents and such, despite my warnings. Was pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago when I went looking for a couple of new baking tins in Sainsbury's to find they were UK manufactured.
  5. There's been one on the sidings at Boston for a few years, warnings about it were put out after it attacked staff making their way to units parked there.
  6. Most of EMRs have already gone elsewhere, some in temporary use as additional vehicles by TFW. So long as they're coupled to a PRM compliant unit they can run for now but with the toilet locked out of use, renumbered as /9 sub class. 5 went to Ely initially but 4 were then forwarded to TFW I believe, others went direct to Wales. The other one, 153302, sat around for some time looking rather forelorn and eventually turned up at the Harry Needle facility at Worksop, still looking down at heel with the wheels chocked and door partially open. It has since disappeared but may be elsewhere among the vast quantity of stored stock.
  7. ^^^ presumably making full use of the low ratio gearbox to get that lot moving!
  8. Not any sort of GWR loco expert but I don't think that's a 56xx, weren't they inside cylinder?
  9. J7949, the white painted signal sighting 'board' is still there albeit more faded.
  10. We almost always run into Attenborough station against a red signal with the barriers open, unless something is coming the other way. We then have to wait for the route proving to decide that there's enough clear track after the barriers have been lowered which usually means leaving late! The only time this changes is during leaf fall season when the barriers are lowered and signals cleared before we arrive.
  11. Just for interest, 158770 is currently between Ilkeston and Alfreton on it's way from Grantham to Manchester Piccadilly, paired with 158780. Services on the Norwich-Liverpool route are only running to Grantham today due to engineering work at Werrington junction north of Peterborough.
  12. It was 156503, full Scotrail refurbished one, ironing board seats and the lot! Anything Central/EMT/EMR over the last 15 years or more us likely to be found on Ryan's Flickr account.
  13. There were a couple parked at Grantham for years by the pway buildings. Both in faded rail blue I think but the memory can play tricks!
  14. Pretty much where I thought, now the car park where they usually hold the maritime festival.
  15. Been there this evening, moving books out of the library ready for replacement of the roof towards the end of next week. Work stopped when we found a bee's nest after pulling down most of the ceiling. Member looking into getting someone to move them
  16. Looks to be on the dockside, the houses in the background of the colour shot look familiar. I'm there again Saturday into Sunday so I'll see if I can tie the location down a bit more. No idea what it would be doing there I'm afraid. There's several scrapyards in. the area now, maybe they were there then as well?
  17. Can I make a suggestion for someone to search regarding lighting on layouts please? I'm away from home and only using my phone with a not brilliant 4G signal, but some of the best layout lights I have seen are on Andy's (user name 298) American street running layout. There are pictures somewhere on the forum. It's not a big layout but it's certainly clever and highly effective in my opinion.
  18. Really don't know the answer to that one. There was a plan in place and started, but it has since stalled. The Law Junction side of the layout has been dismantled and stripped, the intention being to make the station side a layout in it's own right mitigating some of the downsides of the original layout, sorry Gordon! As for all the new locos and stock I'm afraid you can count me out of those completely, far far more expensive than I can reasonably afford and would even consider paying. Apart from that my modelling output has been pretty much zero for about 10 years now.
  19. Hmm, I wonder what they'll do when or if they 'find' the water column that's been hiding in the trees near Woodhouse to the east of Sheffield? Here's a poor picture of it, as I pass at 50-60mph, finally managed to get one after trying many times.
  20. IMG 0459, 156470 now in hybrid EMT/EMR livery currently parked on exam at Eastcroft sidings Nottingham, will be, I believe, heading back to Northern territory when EMR have secured enough 170s. Personally I think Northern get the better end of the deal.
  21. The three volume set is 'the the rise and fall of Nottingham's railways' The one referred to above has the 'back line' as a subtitle, but I can't remember the full title. I'll have a look see if I can find it for you Edit: found it for you https://www.booklaw.co.uk/booklaw-publications/great-northern-railway-the-back-line.html
  22. Talking of odd liveried coaches out of their perceived area, I have a video which shows a chocolate and cream BSK, I think, in the formation of a Nottingham Midland to Worksop train around 1964. Also there's photos of a rail tour around the Nottingham area, hauled by an 8F, which has an almost new blue/grey MK2 at the front of the rake. One photo in one of the Alf Henshaw books about the GN in the Nottingham area, although a little hazy, taken from the train as it passes Weekday Cross on the way into Victoria.
  23. I think it was a Bond? Don't know the model name I'm afraid, Google search may turn one up.
