  1. Hi Andy Great layout as always. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the hinges for the fold over fiddle yard? Thanks Simon
  2. 66746 has been repainted into the Royal Scotsman Livery! I must say it does look good! https://www.facebook.com/GBRailfreight/
  3. The Barrage in question is the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon. A giant white elephant which hopefully will never get off the ground. In fact it has ended up in the High Court: https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2016/01/18/mad-swansea-tidal-lagoon-scheme-heading-for-the-rocks/ All types of Renewables are really Subsidy Farms for there owners. When the Subsidies stop. So will the use of Renewables. You have to ask yourself why are we closing Reliable Coal Fired Power Stations. When the rest of the world is rushing to build them: https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2015/12/02/2500-new-coal-plants-planned/ Simon
  4. You may be interested in these two videos of Gwaun Cae Gurwen Loading Point. This sends a Train nearly every weekday to Onllywn. The first video shows the first EWS train into GCG for loading. With footage of it being loaded as a added bonus. The second shows a trial with HTA Hoppers earlier this year instead of the usual MEA's https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WV7fssWMjzY https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytydUXCuPE Simon
  5. Hi Guys. What's the current situation with the PCA project?
  6. Maritime used to use DrawBar & Trailers on Container Traffic. The image posted by Arthur is of an Ex- Maritime Wagon. They have since fallen out of favour for this type of Multi-functional Trailer which can be split into two separate trailers. http://www.dennisontrailers.com/multi-function
  7. Hi Guys Last night, whilst passing over the Avonmouth Bridge. I could see a Freightliner 70, waiting to depart Portbury Coal Terminal. Looking at Realtime Trains. It looks like it was due to leave for Rugeley at 20:45. Would anyone know what loco is was please. Thanks Simon
  8. Went past Maliphant St. Sidings on the Park and Ride Bus this morning. Not only are the masts up, they are also being wired up as well.
  9. Well they can't stop now. As the masts are up at Swansea's Maliphant St. Depot! Apologies if the link I have posted below has been posted before. The images were taken a while ago, possibly from last year: http://www.volkerfitzpatrick.co.uk/en/projects/detail/swansea-maliphant-intercity-express-depot
  10. Hi Guys Would anyone know what the FL Cl 70 was stabled on the line leading into Colas's Baglan Bay Log Sidings this morning. I stopped to have a look but couldn't get its number! It was on an Engineering train made up of empty JNA or MLA wagons? Many thanks Simon
  11. Hi Guys This morning around 6am. I passed over the GWML by ADJ yard on the Newport ring road. I saw a Colas Engineering Train waiting to go into ADJ. It was Top-n-Tailed by a pair of 70's with DBS/EWS MOA wagons in between. Would anyone know what Loco's they were and where had they come from? Thanks Simon
  12. Thank you Both. 70809 was the one as it was parked next to the M6. Thanks again Simon
  13. Morning All Would anyone know what Colas 70 has been stabled in Bescot Yard for the last two nights. Many Thanks Simon
  14. Briton Ferry Yard which for years, has been allowed to become overgrown. Has suddenly had a major tidying up. All the small bushes and trees have been removed and the grass cut right down. So much so you can now see the rails again. Would this have anything to do with the coming Electrification, with the yard being used as a base for the work trains. Or would Colas be looking at utilising the yard for its Baglan Bay Operations?
  15. Sooner or later people will realise that the trees that are being cut down for bio-mass fuel are the same trees that convert Co2 into Oxygen! Co2 is Plant Food! Nothing more, nothing less.
  16. Hi Guys Tata were looking at loading coils in Port Talbot Docks. At the moment they are loading Twenty Ton steels Slabs instead. Incidentally this is the second time this year. That, Tata have loaded slab in the old Dock. Long term thinking is to build either a new loading terminal in Port Talbot Docks, where the old Iron Ore terminal was or build a new wharf in the deep harbour. This would cater for Coils and Slabs. I will try and find out where the Coils in Cardiff docks are off to. Last year we moved a couple of thousand tons worth of coils to Cardiff Docks, bound for Argentina.
  17. 59003 was the first 59 that I ever saw. When she went to Germany, I didn't think I would see her again. So good news really.
  18. Hi Neil Just discovered your thread. A great plan which I will watch with interest. Just to go back to your question on why you would push a train back towards the buffers once the loco had run round. One reason would be is, if you needed to lengthen the train either with an extra coach or to add a van or two. You would be able to strengthen the train quickly without any fuss and without any further shunting of the train as it's being loaded or unloaded. Simon
  19. When is the Swansea to Cardiff Section due to be electrified? I thought that this was going to be the first section completed, as it was planned to use the area to test the trains and run them in ready for the entire route being electrified? Simon
  20. Hi Guys Would anyone know which Colas 70 was on Bescot yard last night? Thanks Simon
  21. Great Thread and layout, can't believe I've missed it until now. On the Scrap Cubes, I would say that they should be dirty, but not rusty and very smelly! They wouldn't be sat around for long as you mention as their is high demand for this type of scrap. Have I mentioned the smell, there very smelly!
  22. Hi Charlie & Arran What's the latest on the PCA Cement Tanks. Are they still on the back burner? Thanks Simon
  23. Sorry to highjack your thread Jim. But would anyone know what the Two Colas 70's were which were arriving at Bescot on Monday night, roughly about 21:00? Ta Simon
