  1. Woodland scenics do lightweight plaster but it may prove pricy? https://railsofsheffield.com/products/22855/woodland-scenics-wc1201-any-scale-lightweight-hydrocal-casting-plaster-1-2-gallon?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2af-BRDzARIsAIVQUOejt_r0jZJ__1ZAgkfqm4fg_Tnz9l2PCJjjqj43f_cr4EAs2PoL3BIaAq8yEALw_wcB
  2. I agree - pre-drilled with matching hole in footplate would be ideal. What I did was a bit fiddly. I suspect block would need to be decent size given nature of the resin.
  3. Latest innovation - small mounting blocks added inside cab to help with secure fitting when all completed
  4. Lights mounted on wire for ease of fitting. and a test fit on the cab.
  5. The surface finish looks decent. Just about to clean up with IPA and think about priming.
  6. Body completed. I substituted a brass tube stack for the resin version.
  7. I added some bits - the LMS buffers are close enough for me. Although those in the kit are very nice I wanted something a little bit more robust for layout handling. I also have some 3-link couplings on order. I normally use Kadees but will use a suitably equipped brake van as a "convertor wagon" in this case for shunting on LDF. The cow-catchers are so nice I did'nt want to mess with them.
  8. During the handrail fitting I discovered I was a bit heavy handed. But easily fixed...and the break will be under the cab when finished.
  9. I've been after a Drewry and when I saw that Sparkshot do a body I raided the casualty department for an old 03 chassis with dodgy coupling rods. Surplus bits removed and hard wired it ran fine on DC so I ordered a kit. Bits are here - I received 2 sets of buffers as there was a minor glitch with the first order. All seems well...I shaved a bit too much off one of the internal mounting points during clean up and needed to add a sliver of styrene to keep everything level.
  10. This is great news - I appreciate this is all still very early in the process but I can't help feeling that a shorter point will sell very well indeed.
  11. Can Rule 1 apply in this case?
  12. I'm pretty sure these are 4mm - Chris https://hardyshobbies.co.uk/shop/locomotive-specific-crew/model-rail/model-rail-j70/footplate-crew-leaning-11-3/
  13. I ended up buying a set of these from Shawplan. They can be made to fit. DP50-01Buffer beam footsteps for Lima Class 50.B4mm Hornby do not have spares..which is a shame as two of my four were loose or off when I got the new loco...
  14. Looks like a homage to Borchester Market....
  15. Funnily enough I've just decided my HO layout will be a permanent fixture in my "shed". B&M plus some Canadian stuff and no exhibitions!
  16. Based on a photo of Llandudno Junction..but I'm no expert..
  17. My rather superficial research suggests they could be also seen in North Wales and on the WCML..or are they different?
  18. and quite often the initial result looks better than you think when its painted, weathered and a bit of vegetation added... Chris
