  1. Its a mixture of Woodland scenics buff and light gray plus some Green Scenes grey. IIRC the whole thing was very lightly airbrushed with Precision weathered sleepers - a very light brownish grey Chris
  2. and how the canal and roadway ended up. There is still some detailing to do in this picture.
  3. An early picture of the main road.
  4. Bridges over the canal. The single "between the rails" Kadee uncoupling magnet will form part of the bridge. and the second attempt at a planked crossing in the yard. #1 was too high.
  5. Some pictures of scenery development. and a trial fit for the 3mm ply fascia.
  6. Yes - the SMS boards are designed for the box - as endorsed by "our" very own Phil Parker in BRM....
  7. If you get a working one its a nice loco. They are readily available so I expect Hattons will get you another if you want. The return of same is not new. I had a DCC item from a well known supplier and had the same faulty one ( or an identical used one that someone had soldered connections to in the same way I had) returned to me - and was then accused of lying. I don't use them anymore
  8. Scenery coming together...I thought about adding a crane (based on Framlingham) but there was simply not enough space to fit it in sensibly
  9. An image from the intensive "testing" phase....
  10. I found a better picture of the loading gauge. Its being held in some tweezers in this picture. Another signature W&U structure is the water tank at Wisbech. This model is about 3/4 size but looks the part. Strip wood base with Grandt Line NBW plastic parts and a styrene tank with Archer rivets. and here's the yard office - prototypical W&U as modelled by Hornby and repainted by me. Signs by Scalescenes from one of their Hornby Magazine freebies.
  11. Branchie - now that Model Junction have gone I've been using Mech Models for advance orders. https://mech-models.com/ I think Gaugemaster are also Walther's agents so should be able to get stuff. In HO I use Anoraks Anonymous and Contikits for pre-owned stock. http://www.contikits.com/US N.htm https://www.anoraksanonymous.net/ I think Rails of Sheffield are a Rapido dealer here. Chris
  12. I decided I wanted some signature structures and set about making a GER loading gauge. As usual photos were hard to come by until after I'd completed it...... I used some dimensions from an article in MRJ on a SR version plus some sketches from the photos I did find. It was soldered up from BH Code 75 rail.
  13. Ballast and roads in place. Masking the backscene could have gone better...
  14. Fiddle yard and wagon storage - layout will be run from the front even at shows.
  15. Lights fitted...Mark 1....some small changes were made later
  16. Track and ground cover painted and roads fitted.
  17. Some pictures of the below board workings..
  18. I've used them as background buildings previously and I think they work well.
  19. I'm not a great fan of printed finishes but I think the downloaded brickpapers from Scale scenes are very good. I used some of PP's own brickpaper on some of the buildings on Penmaenbach (Summer 2019) but while I've kept the wall finishes I've re-done the paper roofs with laser cut tiles painted and weathered. I've built some arches for the next project but my personal jury is still out and I'm 99% certain to use a painted and weathered finish
  20. The shops are MDF kits by Petite Properties - nice projects in their own right
  21. The road bridge - DPM butchery
  22. It lives.... so work on the joint went ahead
  23. Next step was to plan the road and foam board pavement...to say everything was "selectively compressed" would be charitable. I had spent some time researching the Wisbech and Upwell and had a range of scenic elements I wanted to include. Rails in the roadway was one of them.
