  1. Good Afternoon All, We have returned from the Shrewsbury show now. An enjoyable day was had by all attending and the selection of cakes provided by the hosts were most welcome. The only real issue facing us was the different levels the floor appeared to be on. Having to pack at least one end of the layout up by 2 inches. This then left a sky jump for the trains to negotiate in the fiddle yard. Most items of stock though eventually settled in and ran well. Despite the poor running faced at the start of the show we must of impressed the public as we were awarded best in show by the public. The layout is amazingly showing some signs of wear and tear now and it does need to have some cosmetic work done before its next outing. We shall also look to upgrade the back scene. All being well the issues faced with the signals shall also be solved and they shall be up and running. Dave who has this project in hand has informed us that these are not ready to be installed again. For it's next outing at Crewe Heritage Centre we shall be back dating the layout to 2000. As always pictures are to follow. Benjamin
  2. A small exhibition is to be held at the Methodist Church in Nantwich in aid of the Railway Children Charity on; Saturday 22nd June The event shall be free to attend but donations can be made to the Railway Children Charity. Address Nantwich Methodist Church Hospital Street Nantwich CW5 5RP Around a ten minute walk from Nantwich Railway Station There shall be light refreshments available though the day. There shall be a selection of layouts from the local area in attendance and a short run of 5inch gauge outside. (A permanent feature of the Church)
  3. Hi Dave, There is nothing wrong with n gauge though and when you see what you have achieved it could easily tempt me away from 00. When they do arrive they shall be added to the stock Weaver Hill fleet. We are running the layout in BR at the next show so it does give a chance for the swallow one to stretch it's legs. I've currently got two Hornby ones on the workbench at the moment. 90019 and 90034 hopefully 90019 shall be at least finished this weekend to run on the vtec set. Benjamin
  4. Thanks Dave Only bad news is , no Bachmaan class 90's thought they would have been here , oh well there is always the next show .
  5. Evening Paul Flowers were brought from " layouts 4U " £1.00 a packet , then sprinkled on woodland scenics Dark Green clump foliage and built up , the purple then added after , as you can see i like Rhododendrons , hope this helps ?. And thanks we will hopefully will enjoy ourselves .
  6. Hi All, Well it is nearly time for Weaver Hill to head out again. Another fairly local show at Shrewsbury this Saturday. We shall be setting the layout up tomorrow at the show and look forward to another day playing trains. Another folly has been added to the layout now. A little off the usual period but here are some photos of the latest addition with a Q6.
  7. Good evening Not much to report, a few minor scenery changes before our next show this Saturday , at Shrewsbury will post details later along with photo . For a change in a months time out again , but going to do something different , we will try and do Virgin trains through the years covering also the East Coast trains .
  8. Good Morning, Over the past few weeks there has been some discussion as to the way forward with the layout. The wiring and control panel are now finished to an extent which shall enable us to remove the fiddle yard and insert the new station board. This should hopefully be done in the next few weeks ready for our next open day. The next task shall be to focus on the scenic work and how the land around the station shall be built up and urbanised. Benjamin
  9. Morning Thanks for taking the time to post photo's . Like them , saw things i missed .
  10. Good Morning, We have returned from the Crawley Model Railway show and the layout is now tucked back up in its corner at the club. However during the course of the weekend a few things were noted on how to improve the layout for it's next outing and over the coming months these alterations shall be carried out. All in all it was a very enjoyable weekend playing trains as always and the layout itself received many positive comments. I have attached a few photos from the weekend. Many Thanks Benjamin
  11. Dave Like it , Done a cracking job , as one Class 90 fan to another . we do need to send ours back in time again !!!!!! Cheers
  12. Good Evening, We are all set up now at the Crawley model railway show. We look forward to a weekend moving coal.
  13. Good Afternoon, We shall be there with Hassell Hill Colliery. Plenty of work has been carried out to get it ready for the show and we are looking forward to the weekend.
  14. Good Morning, Well there is nothing more to do now with the layout apart from load it into the van on Friday morning for our journey south. We have the route and stops planned off and look forward to a weekend away. During the test run there was only two areas of concern and that was the double slip on the exchange sidings which required the blades being slight adjusted, and some of the scenery cutting back to accommodate the new weigh bridge hut. Other than that the layout ran well. It gave me an opportunity to take some happy snaps. However do excuse the clutter. The next update should be after the show with more photos. Benjamin
  15. Good Evening, Just a few more photos from last night at the club. Chris and Chris posing for a photo. Benjamin
  16. Good Morning, With less than two weeks until the Crawley Model Railway show we have pulled out all the stops to finish the alterations to the colliery. This has been helped with the addition of a member who knows his way around CAD and has access to a laser cutter. This has meant we have been able to populate the area very quickly with buildings. It is now starting to look like a colliery with a random assortment of buildings popping up. We had an addition working night last night and two more still planned this week before its final test and strip down this coming Monday we should have the layout ready. Benjamin
  17. Good Morning, Just to let you know we shall be down the club from 1pm onwards. Tea and cake shall be available. There shall also be a small working party, carrying out work on the updated colliery boards. With only three weeks until its next show its all hands to the pumps in this area. We all look forward to seeing you there. Benjamin
  18. Good Afternoon, I remember spending plenty of time to watch this layout in 2016 and did wonder what had happened to it. It stuck me as Newton straight away and am looking forward to seeing this once again, especially with it's ohle added. Do you have any more shows lined up or just Glasgow for the time being? Benjamin
  19. Good Afternoon All, This is just a quick reminder to let you know we shall be holding our first open day for this year, this coming Sunday. All are welcome and if you do have any 0 gauge stock feel free to bring it down for a run. Refreshments shall be available through the afternoon. The colliery won't be running just the bridge, however the new station boards can be viewed as this are currently in the centre of the main layout. We look forward to seeing you there The 0 gauge group
