  1. I am going with the same as 3rd Rail in Exile, Chester You just can't quite see the town crier
  2. I am glad you enjoyed the layout we had a great day at Ludlow, a exhibition that is well worth the visit with a lovely venue. Top marks to the organisers
  3. Good Morning, We are all set up at the Ludlow show and the stock has been tested. We are looking forward to a day playing trains. The backdating suits the railway quite well.
  4. Good Evening, That's the majority of the stock is now packed for Ludlow, a very 90s theme but we are looking forward to the back dating, as we did at Doncaster. Attached a photo of the DMU substitute service.
  5. Weaver Hill follows the same theme as this, our are A4 but these were added once the wire were brought down by wondering hands once. These boards do the trick perfectly in our eyes.
  6. The driver really does make me laugh, must be second man to the invisible man
  7. Brains LNWR stock was excellent, he displayed it once at one of the shows we had a Crewe, an excellent display of locos from the Premier Line in it's home town. I'd like to see the layout at some point also. Cheers Ben
  8. HI, Thanks for the response the effect is great. I always switch between weathering with a brush and weathering with the airbrush, but I find the airbrush does take a lot of time with cleaning and setting up. The effect you have on all the coaching stock is subtle and has that in service look, and I am going to look at doing more coaching stock weathering this way, rather than getting the airbrush out. I have been doing a little modern stock but I do find it is mundane, on the other hand I enjoy doing the few steam locos I have. The Hall is up there with one my better attempts. I wanted to create a clean look on the loco with only a little bit or running in grime, my only real regret after doing this was not going to the effort to renumber it. The Q6 was done due to me living in the North East for a few years. Brush painting, with dry brushing also works well the 20t slaters hoppers have been finished this way and I do like the effect. I really need to crack on and built the rest of the wagons for the train. You'll have to excuse the model this is Weaver Hill replacement.
  9. Good Evening, Just catching up and dropping back to your post on the new Thompson. I have been working on the Weaver Hill coaching stock and was weathering the sleeper train today. However again after seeing the LB stock, I forgot to ask how do you go about weathering your own stock. Do you paint and dry brush or is it airbrush to get the base colours? Cheers Ben
  10. A few more photos from yesterday taken by Jason who has filmed the layout before and is running Model Rail Crewe (https://modelrailcrewe.uk/) which Weaver Hill shall be appearing at. Jason has tried to capture speed with some of the photos and effect has come out quite well.
  11. Weaver Hill managed to have a last minute outing to the Alsagers Bank model railway exhibition. We had a good weekend as always with the model. We ran the model very different to normal. It was used more as a club layout with an open invite for friends to come and run their own stock on it. I added a few items of stock which usually don't get the opportunity to run on WH, such as the GWR Sleeper. I also gave it a little East Coast feel with an Azuma and MK4 rake running around. A few photos provided by one of those operating their own stock
  12. Good Morning, A post of thanks to Tony for allowing part of the Weaver Hill team visit Little Bytham last week. We had an excellent day. It was great to be able to see the layout in all its glory and stock. I though the 3d printed barnum looked well on the back of the parly train. While on the topic of coaching stock I have to say I was very impressed with the low budget but very effective couplings used on the layout, so much so that I am going to have a go at doing the same. We were out with Weaver Hill yesterday and all of a sudden the couplings were jarring with me far more than they should. We both enjoyed the way the layout was brought to life with the stories of the figures on the model, the birthday party and platelayers. I managed a few phone photos and some on the camera which still need to be uploaded. The mundane fast fish being one of my requested services to see. Once again, thank you.
  13. Good Morning All Like to thank all those that had attended , and , especially the layout owners who gave up there time to support the school and RNLI .
  14. Lymebroom Yard is all set up, along with Weaver Hill Glenfinnan and a few others. We hope to see you at the show. Doors open at 1030
  15. Tops Trains of Stafford shall be attending as Trade Support, Sausage Baps & Cheese and Bacon oatcakes shall be available through the day.
  16. If it's a red shed and the way competition has been in the past I'd expect a retooled 66. I have though it odd we have not had any new liveries on a 66 for a while. I've always thought the Bachmann 66 was good for it's age and has never failed me at a show. I'd welcome a retooled one. Had the lack of new liveries been in aid of this new announcement?
  17. 2 layouts for the show. SF315 of this Parish shall be bringing his excellent n gauge layout Lymebrook yard and we shall be bringing our own layout Weaver Hill.
  18. I think there has to be more 158's still in the system, a Northern one maybe. The Class 170 surly has to be on the horizon, there is plenty of operational scope and a scotrail shall fly off the shelves even at Bachmann prices I am sure.
