  1. Does the lighting circuit marry up with the current chassis or vice versa , do you glue the new tool circuit to the old tooling nose? Thanks, Ian
  2. Thrice ! But even more I’d really love to see the frankly pornographic 183 in large logo , stags and skirts with glass head code boxes !
  3. I want to do 262 in large logo as well but I’m struggling justifying the expenditure of buying grey 262 as a donor . Especially having bought 2 x 37423’s (albeit as ‘bargains’ purely for the noses to replace 37430s nose. p.s anyone want any nose less 37423’s !? 😂
  4. I’m not sure if you own one already but Rails have the excellent Gauge Master Gras-master 3.0 for £54.95. That’s actually a very good price and I’d recommend it to anyone with quite a bit of scenery to do. It’s certainly better than the home made electro sieve I did Meanach with !
  5. Does that mean that the bogies Bachmann have used on 401 in mainline and 423 in railfreight metals aren’t accurate then ?
  6. As it happens a none modelling (but west highland obsessed) friend sent me this photo today from Swanage. I asked if he could take some interior shots but sadly the carriage was locked out . He did however say it had dark wood interior and blue / green B.R ‘Bournemouth blue ‘ moquette upholstery. Photo c/o Dave Henwood.
  7. Yes 114 was the only one with it mounted on a short bracket above the nose . I think it may be a long time before we see anymore car headlight models with the long list of other 37s on the ‘to do’ list . It would be nice if both manufacturers picked something a little more mundane that could be more easily reworked . So far both sides keep producing quite bespoke models. I guess that’s the price we pay for super accurate models though .
  8. Nice ! I don’t think 027 has come up when there’s been discussions of which other members of the class can be modelled from 043. Mine awaits the queue while I ponder if it remains 043 or not . As I model 87-89 west highlands then it’s just a touch early for me .
  9. Looks good . Did you 3D print the aerials? If so, would you consider selling any ?!😉 430 central lamp bracket is an odd choice by Bachmann as it’s none standard. The old VI trains detail sprue has the correct type but they aren’t easy to find. That’s another detail ripe for 3D printing .
  10. Yes they did as the English electric generator was replaced by a Brush BA1005A alternator. The starter motor and warm up are different on the refurb. The amps also load up differently to a 37/0. 37/3 . It all depends just how good your hearing is though , as bar the start up I think you’d really have to have an acute sense of hearing to be able to tell instantly in model form.
  11. Both from (different) retail partners. The one I got direct was so well packaged I think it would have survived a nuclear blast!
  12. Out of the 3 accurascale class 37/0s I bought , 2 of them came with the front glazing adrift. So based on those odds I’d say its quite a common thing.
  13. It’s quite exciting to come across footage I’ve never seen before of the WHL. It makes me wonder just how many other historically interesting footage is sat in peoples homes. A fair few interesting bits in there. The camping ? Coach at Tulloch . The engineering carriage of Gresley design on Fort William yard plus the Turbots at Glenfinnan. I didn’t even realise round speed signs were installed that early either . Thanks very much for sharing. Ian
  14. Thanks again for the info . I looked at numerous photos and I was trying to decipher if the spot light was in a different location ! I think it had its boiler reinstated quite late for a while , so it may have kept it open. I did a version on the original Bachmann tooling when it had highland stags and large numbers , just before it went south . Ironically it was probably easier to model !
  15. If anyone here is handy with a 3D printer then perhaps some clever soul could create a drop in replacement counter and patrician and we all pay towards it ?
  16. Thanks for that . To my untrained eye I thought it was a match . Hmm it’s looking like 043 is really only good for 043! If I can pick your brain on the subject , would you happen to know if 027 is good to convert to 033 please?! (I know the obvious , that the buffers are different.)
  17. Their 40 isn’t looking much beyond a jouef model from the images I’ve seen so far. I think everyone has their hopes pinned on Accurascale coming to the rescue!
  18. I’d be well up for half dozen of those at least, as would a lot of others I suspect !
  19. Wow , now I feel old ! 😂 Some amazing historic footage there . I’ve seen a mk2F on the extension before (c1987) but never that early (1984?). Thanks for sharing.
  20. That’s very useful , thanks ! I’d really appreciate the photos . I’ve been wanting to convert one for a long time !
  21. I’m pleased to report that after 2 years of trying , I managed to obtain a mint one on eBay . I also intend to convert to a BSOT . How we do this requires some pondering ! At the moment I’ve got 3 x new tool Bachmann 37s stripped and being weathered / detailed . Modelling is currently in the living room (thankfully I’ve a very understanding GF!) as the loft is a no go, owing to my 3 slipped discs.
  22. I thought about converting 043 to 051 myself but then I saw 051 retained an unplayed body side water filler step. I’ve been trying to research one in large logo that lasted into late 87/88 period I model that could be made from 043 in L.L . 085 sprang to mind but pictures show it had different cant rail grills. Any of you chaps got any ideas? 012 but I think the head light is higher (plus Bachmann already produce it !) .
  23. It looks great . I’m intrigued by the nose , was it a complete swap or a lot of chopping filing and filling going on ?
  24. Whilst working on some of these I noticed a discrepancy in the nose between 37423 prototype and the Bachmann model. A bit of research shows some of the real 37/4s have this but some do not! Can anyone enlighten me as to what it is ?
  25. That’s a lovey weathered roof. Do you do a panel line wash prior to air brushing?
