  1. We like the blue pre-TOPS era as well, so rather than keep you all guessing who commissioned it the TMC exclusive that is D1960 has been added to TMC website earlier today [Heljan item number 4715] and is now available to pre-order. We weren't planning to launch it at Warley, so description is minimal at present, but more will appear later in the week. Good to hear that a number of you like our choice. Team TMC
  2. As promised, here is the video promoting our exclusive versions, but also some nice footage of the models taking a spin around one of our customers layouts. Please note layout is still under construction, but we still think it's rather impressive!

  4. We're getting reports that he (or she) had to swerve for a sheep on the line. It's a regular occurrence here on the NYMR too 😅
  5. Dispatched today! Royal Mail should be sending you your tracking number hopefully :)
  6. We have good news! It's just a poor angle the photo was taken at. Please see below image, these are fantastic models and the doors are moulded perfectly :) We're going to be doing some promo videos and posting them on the TMC peak thread over the next few days. So this will give you a chance to get some better views of the models as they take a tour round the layout pictured below. [WARNING - LAYOUT STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION :D]
  7. Hello Paul No problem at all, we measure it to be 21mm. All the best Alex
  8. Hi Mark, You are not the only one who has enquired about the possibility of either a GE area or Scottish area based G5. Indeed at the start of this commission we included both in the range but made the decision in November 2020 to discontinue both [see our post above on 10th November 2020] simply because the cost of doing one or both of them would not have been commercially cost effective due to the additional tooling required to make them accurate, so it might be a very patient wait........but please read on. Renumbering is something TMC have routinely done for customers since we started business, so yes one could be renumbered BUT it really all depends on how accurate you want the loco to be. The G5 is far more complex than it appears at first sight, every single one of the eight models being produced is different in its detail, but even so the tooling we have cannot accurately represent every loco in the class, or in some cases at every stage of its life The first issue with the GE locos is that they were push/pull fitted but with a different type of gear to that fitted to remainder of class, then they had a different type of bunker with a cage back but no cage and they had an additional steam supply pipe from the cab to the boiler. Unlike most of the class that survived to mid 1950's it seems that they retained a Diagram 69 boiler [apart perhaps from 67279 - further study of photographs would be needed to confirm], so a simple renumber wouldn't necessarily work in all cases. Whistle positions also vary. The Scottish locos present similar challenges with boiler type, additional steam supply pipe and bunkers and in all cases a different safety valve arrangement. However we don't give up easily so between now and when the locos arrive next year we are looking at whether our workshop could cost effectively convert any of the standard models to a GE area or a Scottish area model. That is why you were given the answer you received in the shop. Hopefully this rather more detailed reply will assist in understanding the complex nature of loco commissions. We don't intend to update further on the subject matter of this post, but if our workshop [once the locos arrive] does produce a GE area or Scottish area loco they will of course appear on our website and here. We are glad you liked what you saw in the display cabinet and hopefully a customised one for GE area might join them in the future. All the best. Team TMC
  9. Hi Neil We are sorry if you were disappointed with your experience but are somewhat confused as our CCTV shows no evidence of your visit at or near the time stated, perhaps you could contact us direct with more details so that we can investigate as what you describe is not how it should be. The service bell on the counter should always bring a quick response. All the best TMC
  10. Hi Peter, No payment is taken at the time of pre-order even though you have to enter credit card details. With some banks the transaction may show as pending for a few days but will then disappear with no payment being charged. When the model comes into stock you will be contacted with an invoice notifying of model being in stock and a link to our payment system which will only take the payment once this is completed; the model will then be despatched. Thank you.
  11. Oops..........stray L's removed. Well spotted, thank you.

  13. We're delighted to report that our superb new OO gauge Heljan Class 45s are finally in production and should start to reach us in October. As you may already know TMC has commissioned Heljan to produce an exclusive OO gauge model of the first 5 production Class 45 Peak locomotives D11 - D15 which had detail differences to the remainder of the class.... 14. That’s interesting that you’ve noticed that, after the first picture we changed the direction of the light (as we noticed it was shining straight at the G5) and the shutter speed. The rest of the photos all we changed was the shutter speed. Hope this helps!
  15. Hello everyone, just in regards to the colour of the NER example. It's purely down to lighting as a couple of you have already pointed out. We've done a few snap shots in different lighting next to the NER E1/J72 Tank 2173. Please see images below! Hope this clears things up a little, we've not seen any complaints about the NER E1/J72 Tank.
  16. Finally 35-250Z depicts loco 2093. This loco was one of the last to be repainted in full NER Green livery with N.E.R. on its tank sides as it appears to have been repainted thus after an overhaul in early March 1923, later that month LNER black with red lining became the order of the day. This livery was therefore carried by this loco from building in 1900 through to late 1924. Another interesting feature of 2093 was that it finished its life as 67322 based at Cambridge after 13 years at Stratford. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-250Z
  17. The first of our NER liveried locos is 35-251Z which represents the new build loco 1759. This loco is currently in the course of construction to main line certificate standards by The Class G5 Locomotive Company at its workshop in Shildon and each sale of this model will result in a donation being made to that company. The model reflects the loco in the guise that the replica is expected to be finished when building is complete when it is expected to start operations on heritage lines before venturing out onto the main line. However there was also a real NER 1759 built in November 1897 but this loco never got a BR number as it was withdrawn as number 7306 in June 1948. Like many others of the class much of its time was spent at Sunderland. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-250Z
  18. Next up is 67261 [35-259Z]. This is one of only two G5’s that received the BR late crest, the other being 67281 and both were shedded at South Blyth at the time although 67261 was transferred to Sunderland shortly before withdrawal. It appears that the Blyth to Monkseaton route was one service on which they were used until dieselisation took place in late 1958. 67261 was push pull fitted and had a cage bunker. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-259Z
  19. We now have some photographs of loco 67282 [35-256Z] which is in BR lined black with early crest. This loco spent its BR days at Hull Botanic gardens and was push pull fitted with a Hopper bunker. Hull was home to both non push pull and push pull fitted G5’s for local suburban services. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-256Z
  20. Thank you for the positive comments, we think they look good too. We noted the 'to line or not to line' discussion regarding locos 1752 and 2082 so we revisited our research. As far as we can see it is generally quoted that LNER goods engines were unlined from 1928. Yeadons [page 68] states that LNER black with red lining was applied consistently to G5's from March 1924 to November 1941, plain black was then used until July 1942 when plain black with NE [rather than LNER] was applied to tank sides. So 1752 would have been lined in 1932 and 2082 would have been lined when push pull equipment fitted in September 1941. So why the apparent inconsistency with the photographs referred to? It is probably because the lining is so beautifully thin that it doesn't clearly show up on black & white photographs. A link was helpfully provided further up this thread to a colour photo of 1786 in which the lining is clearly evident, which when contrasted to the admittedly undated photo of the same loco on page 36 of Yeadons there is at first glance little or no evidence of the lining. Our conclusion therefore is to stick by our initial research and so the livery remains as LNER black with red lining. Photographs of the remaining four locos will appear this week.

    Great service from TMC

Thank you everyone for your kind words :)
  22. Also in LNER livery is 35-252Z as loco 1752. This loco has a smoke box wheel and Ramsbottom Safety Valves. If our information is correct this one didn’t travel about much, it appears to have been a resident of Sunderland shed from early LNER days right to the time it was withdrawn from service. Sunderland shed had a large allocation of G5’s used on suitable local suburban and branch trains. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-252Z
  23. Our next liveried sample is for 35-253Z, loco 2082 in LNER livery, our first sample displaying push-pull gear which was fitted to some members of the class from the late 1930’s. This loco travelled about a bit and spent time at West Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Hull Botanic Gardens, Leeds Copley Hill, Bridlington, Selby, Malton and South Blyth although most of its time in the livery and detail depicted on the model was spent at either Middlesbrough or Hull Botanic Gardens. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-253Z
  24. Next to break cover is 35-255Z loco number 67342. Of all the class this had to be one of our selection for no better reason than the photo that exists of it on Goathland bank, so we know for sure this one came past the current TMC premises. What is more it isn’t on a branch passenger train but piloting a heavy holiday express. Unlike the loco above it kept the Westinghouse brake equipment and it also received a hopper bunker. This loco survived until December 1958 when it was withdrawn from Malton shed. https://tmc-direct.co.uk/35-255Z
