I had a good look at the real thing last night and the Arrvia colour looks way to light ? Maybe a tad of toning down would be required, also the seats aren't red more green. Great Western

It's going to be fun replacing the 32 signal gantries installed under the Newport Area Resignalling Scheme less tahnit the grses ago to allow OHL to Cardiff! Plus foot bridges at Patchway, Pilning, Severn Tunnel Junction, and several road over rail bridges between Severn Tunnel and Swansea. Maybe this is why the electrification is so over budget, no one realised the true cost of the lump it all in to the OHL budget mindset ? Great Western

A quick question in general and specific for this project do Rapiod, Bachmann, Hornby etc work full time on each projecf or do they say do one project ona Monday etc? I'm so glad I boarded this project, very excited seeing just the first cads, can't wait to see the 3D models and first EPs ! Great Western

Really interesting stuff, thanks for keeping us updated. I wish the other companies would do the same, it's not a big ask is it? I always though laser scanning was something really big and amazing (with all due respect) it looks quite erm.......unspectacular although impressive what such small bits of kit produce. Are you working to the kickstart production dates, as in scanning Jan, 3D model March, first EP (if that's what's called) around June for ammemdenments and circa Septemeber for production ? Is this what remains of 390033, the one that came off in Cumbria ? How will the access Platform effect the scanning of the trailer vehicle underside ? Blinking snow! lol Do Virign own the trademark etc for the Traindeer scheme, a special livery would be nice, rather than standard VT verions...... Great Western

Well my patience has run dry Dapol, my order for two BR Black Terriers has been regrettably cancelled. Not because I won't get two (hopefully) nice little models, but because I've had to cancel nearly £500 worth of business to my local model shop. Instead I've opted for a Lionheart 64xx Autotank with sound, okay it costs about £200 more than the two terriers but I'll have a model within months and I know it will be awesome. Great Western

Interesting you say about the gantries installed during the Newport Area Resignalling Scheme. Compare those to the new ones installed as part of the ongoing Cardiff ARS, and they are much much higher than the Newport ones! So basically all those Newport area ones with amount to at a rough guess about 50 gantries need raising ! Talk about lack of forward planning ! All we need now is for the new footbridge at newport do be to low! Great Western

Blooming heck, yoy,could build your own 1:1 scale 390 with that lot ! Excellent, really look forward to watching this wonderful project. Has anyone else noticed that 'further models' section on the website.........fingures crossed for some more non core EMU and DMU models funded like the 390 when this one shows how good it is. Id assume scanning a locomotive is pretty straight forward (if your a scanning pro of course!) but a 11car 390 is a whole different kettle of fish. Will Alstom be spitting the unit to allow scanning of the inner ends of the vehicles ? If not, how is this achieved ? Certainly looking forward to seeing the pictures. Great Western

I think for me at least the attraction to this project after getting an awesome top of the range model (hopefully), is again (hopefully) seeing each stage of the process the actual process of producing a model train. From the 3D laser scanning process, through design to tooling and production etc. I hope it gives a greater understanding of the process something that a lot of companies don't give. Great Western

It's getting stupid now, it was down for pre xmas then jan/feb now March/April for the 1st batch, then 3 months later for the 2nd batch which contains the BR versions. So Im now looking at around June or July on the current eta for my two BR verions! I ordered petty much when they ehere announced so ive waited at least three years! I'm really considering jacking it in and going for a lionhart pannier or something, at least I'll get s top draw model this year! Great Western

I've pledged for a 11 vehicle Standard scheme non sound set, however what kind of proof do I get from kickstart? I've got a email which says what and how much I've pledged is that suffficent for the rapido discount ? Do I need to email the project managers with my details or am I automatically on the list ? I think Rapido have made this commitment for two reasons, it turns a small profit of course and IT creates a huge amount of goodwill and PR for them. Great Western

Right okay, now I've got below average interlecf so people bear with me on this..... Even if Kickststart doesn't reach the target of £210,000 by Sunday night, Rapido have commited to producing a model ? So, if I pledge for a 11 car sound model before the cut off on Sunday, and the project 'fails' I still get a model and at the kickstart price via Rapido as basically their own model? If the project this the target, great stuff we still get models and at the kickstart price but the money gets taken now as such not on delivery if the model in circa 12 months time? Basically to cut a long story short, Rapido will sell me a model at the kickstart price when it's ready in 12 months and most importantly take the money then, not 'now' ? PS: just read the above, regards 50% down...when will the desposit be expected ? Great Western

Just to clarfy I wasn't for one second suggesting any dishonesty with the project manages, just marely saying that some people aren't 100% confident to part with several hundred pounds. I don't have the funds sitting round to pledge, nor do I wish to get into debt to fund one. Once again I wish you luck with the project. I think kickstart is an unknown to 99% of people. We're being asked to give money to two people who (with the greatest of respect) are being trusted to use that money to produce a model for us. At least with DJM, Bachmann etc we know they will produce a model (in the end) with no perceived financial risk to the individual. £60,000 in four days. Great Western

Yes the thread goes back to August or Septemeber, but by your own admission and continued publicity at shows etc, many thousnds of people still don't know about the project. With less than a week to go, who is going to have no seen the PR stuff and then have the cash to pledge? I really hope the model goes a head, but with over 300 people already signed up, I think that goes to show there is a market. Great Western

I think the problem is that there is a prospect, (okay at a higher price) of a model either way. Id personally rather wait for Rapido to produce or announce their model so I can ore order, monitor the progress and have time to save up. Stupid outlook I know, but I think it's something a lot of people are thinking. Great Western
