  1. I'm the same, I got a couple of the Provincial ones and would love a Strathclyde one, but the painted marker lights are a let-down and I came to the same conclusion that I can do without it
  2. A couple of examples could be Springburn where the terminating, bay platforms were electrified with the through platforms not. Or Ayr, where both the terminating bay platforms and through platforms were electrified (but there was a servicing area beyond the station for the electrics). When Edinburgh Waverley was electrified with the ECML, all the eastern facing platforms were electrified but on the west side only the outer through platforms for services continuing on to Glasgow Central or WCML via Carstairs. I dont think there would be set rules for what they did and it would depend on what was worthwhile at that location.
  3. Working fans are neither here nor there, they're only visible from a very limited viewing angle and I cant see what all the fuss is about. Is the rotation speed going to be measured and complained about next?
  4. The ICI Hoppers would have to be worth another run if they had
  5. Its a strange one, you'd think things like Mk2 (both air-con and z/a) and Mk1s in BR Blue-Grey would be things there would always be a demand for. Perhaps the majority of modelers have bought as many of them as they need to fill trains over the years. Bachmann seem to have only been producing twin packs (often with a brake) and trying to inflate the price with weathering or passengers and they just dont shift. If they'd even produced twin packs of TSOs I think they'd probably have sold better, but there is a limit to the price that the old and basic tooling will sell for and things like the new Scotrail or WCRC Mk2z's at £70 a pop I'd suggest are over that limit too.
  6. Is there any update on where these are up to with delivery yet? Still Q2 2023?
  7. that looks the same trackplan as at the moment so far doesn't it?
  8. I'm surprised the banker was never coupled, was there never a danger of the banker dropping off the rear only to risk colliding with the train in the dark tunnel if the main train slowed at all?
  9. There is this topic on the Gresley buffets, sounds like they were still used until 1977 although some were based elsewhere and sound like they spent more time on the ECML. 9132 and possibly 9124 sound like they were based at Cowlairs for Inverness and Aberdeen services. It also refers to two Thompson buffets 1705/1706 used on internal Scottish services.
  10. You would think at some point a need to keep buyers happy would kick in, but obviously not. Hornby can die out with the kettleistas.
  11. A Kohler sized hole in the roof would implied he cared. To be honest, there have been far too many c0ck-ups that I dont believe they possibly can care in general and certainly not about D+E models. A mistake can happen to any manufacturer, but repeated on one release after another? Its shameful
  12. do you know what the layout will be like once they're finished?
  13. Kernow Model Rail Centre replied that all theirs were
  14. I have a horrible feeling they might all be like that. I just cant understand why, had they made a mistake at the factory to apply the bodyside stripe first and then came back to do the cab door? Either way for over £200 its not acceptable and just gives more examples of where Hornby dont seem to care about what they throw out as products.
  15. was there any railtours took them onto the Sheffield-Chinley-Manchester line? I'm pretty sure a pair of NSE Class 50s made it to Edinburgh and they went over the Settle and Carlisle here. They might not have made it to Buxton exactly but its not unfeasible that they wouldn't have visited
  16. Just a suggestion, but I'd wonder if your topic might get more responses in the 'Prototype Questions' section rather than 'Modelling Questions' ... I know you're asking for modelling purposes, but it does relate to a prototype location
  17. Not sure I've seen any mention anywhere of whether they can or not since they've made later versions of the DBSOs
  18. 25322 https://www.derbysulzers.com/25912.html
  19. I only remember a 25322 version to order too, I'd prefer 25912 given a choice
  20. It took me a few orders to work out what payment options were available, I didn't think it was particularly clear the option to split payments or pay a deposit and the rest in time for delivery
  21. Love the fact that Centre Headcode Class 37s are appearing, but not particularly taken with the choices on offer there for 80s Sectorisation so will keep my powder dry for the moment. But I'm sure it wont be long before you guys prize my credit card out with other goodies! 😉
  22. There should be plenty opportunities to sell 24/25s, but I just hope they dont all take years to produce. I know we've had the 'pandemic' but we'd seen some pretty amazing looking Class 25 pre-production models for a long time before these are going to turn up
