  1. I'd be pretty certain you'll struggle to find a Bachmann Class 90 much cheaper anywhere
  2. That looks magnificent!! Really well done!!
  3. The SNCF one is definitely my favourite of those liveries and I'd much rather have seen that than the DB and Belgian ones
  4. and potentially ruin a beautiful model ... no thanks
  5. I'm struggling to think of any RTR locos that have had salmons on the side since Lima days .... Very much overlooked!! 😔
  6. But the thing is, if faster services are not possible, then what exactly are we getting for the vast cost of HS2. We're told its for capacity more than speed, but its being built for 225mph services and thats increased the cost of needing tunnels everywhere to keep it out of sight of local residents ... but why engineer it for that and all the tunnels if the trains aren't actually going to get there significantly faster than the existing 125mph tilting ones do? 15-20 mins quicker to Manchester or Liverpool isn't going to blow many folks socks off if it takes longer to get to the more limited stations that they stop at and you can guarantee tickets are going to cost extra ... for a 'premium' service that saves a handful of minutes. Alternatively, if it had been built as a 125mph or even 140mph railway, would it still have needed so many tunnels and cost so much? While physically building for 225mph and 125mph might not cost much difference, but if 225mph means more needs to be done to approve the planning then thats greatly increasing the cost. If we need capacity for freight then would a 75mph railway have been fast enough and either the new line used for expresses or leave them where they are on the WCML.
  7. Speeding up commuting in the past has increased the range at which commuters travel from London, so its probably going to increase the numbers working in London but living in the north and thus, increase housing costs? So who does it benefit more?
  8. haven't we already had HTO/HTV 21t hoppers????
  9. 6 mins less London to Glasgow and how much more will ticket prices be?
  10. I think they've just split the production batch to number with alternative numbers for the same tooling. The product reference number has a suffix A on it so essentially same tooling and livery
  11. Thats probably a renumbered 31110
  12. Something just looks absolutely spot on about it that the Heljan just doesn't seem to have
  13. Scottish 37/4s would definitely go down well!!!
  14. Looks pretty elusive in ICI livery, but there's a couple of photos here of PR5302 and PR5307 wagons https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/iciredlandpna
  15. SLW have been going for a good few years now so a lot of those 5 digits will relate to the various Class 24 releases and there have been a good few batches of those
  16. I'd prefer the Mk3 Royal Train, is there any more commonality in those vehicles?
  17. When Accurascale announced there was only the Hornby Class 31 around and they haven't really seemed to pay much attention to it for quite some time that there are still big gaps in what they've produced from tooling thats nearly 20 years old. Bearing in mind Accurascale announce when they've got something to show for it, as in Engineering Prototypes, it wasn't just a CAD drawing so it was obviously well on the way to a finished product turning up. I can only assume that Bachmann must have been at a similar stage at that point and to have spent the big money on tooling already that they needed to continue to recover that.
  18. or Bachmann Collectors Club
  19. I'm not sure politicians of any colour have taken long term views of things ... and there's zero choice for voters for those that would
  20. Would it help to cancel your orders and be refunded to free up some cash?
  21. would the yellow clips not generally be covered in grot anyway?
  22. it'd be interesting to know whether that could be built any cheaper and if so what the difference would be
  23. I dont think they've gotten close to offering a Class 31 at the right price for years with the way vast numbers of releases end up in the bargain bin
  24. Class 08s were often depot pets getting special treatment and unusual liveries or adornments. Perhaps not fleets, but most layouts will cope with multiples of Class 08s and they'll often have been left visible for long periods of time in stations rather than only making brief visits. Not to mention nearly 1000 of them built
  25. I'd guess some kind of electromagnet to move the hook ... might need to have similar steel hook on whatever you're uncoupling from too to get it to release
