  1. I think its missing a slightly recessed area along the bodyside windows. I thought the 3D model was a Class 81 at first when that looked missing http://www.rail-online.co.uk/p1050452084
  2. was that coach unique among the apt build? any idea why it was built without articulated bogies?
  3. Depending on how the photos are captioned you might find more searching for stations or locations on the line. That search is likely to pick out more freights than passenger. Using a year in the search can also help filter out more recent photos. There tends to be more recent photos on there - I guess its easier to upload digital pictures now than it would have been scanning slides and uploading them from years gone by. But there can be a lot of interesting shots to find Another mixed one at Dingwall .... https://windcutter.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/the-kyle-mixed-and-xp-brandings/
  4. I put in 'paper train corpach' first and on finding they went to Mossend also tried 'corpach mossend'. it picked out a load of other photos too but not too many to identify more interesting ones out of those returned. the intercity ones you're referring to might be called intercity Mainline or just Mainline livery in places. it was intended as a general user livery probably around 1988 or 1989 off the top of my head. have a search on Flickr and see what shows up. of class 37s I think only the 37/4s were in that exact livery. a few other 37/0 and 37/5s were painted later in intercity swallow livery - very similar but with a lighter coloured lower band for the sleepers over the Highland main line and possibly Aberdeen. I think they would have been around 1991 onwards
  5. most of the photos I could find looked later than mid 80s or non-descript vans where the contents would not be obvious but ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/railcam/32779108076/in/photolist-r7sGcX-HEJ7ep-a7dVuH-RWzuPN-dr8YiF-e77d2L-myJ79S-dnPizP-bf44pc-bFp88p-nJVowU-aR1s2V-AqMQB3-dpgrsR-8RhLzf-PBBUK3-9PpCyt-8W389n-FuoZJp-ExRLBh-oi9wnn-cduuzU-byxWAa-EXEXz3-ErvdTn https://www.flickr.com/photos/lickeybanker/13497478634/in/photolist-r7sGcX-HEJ7ep-a7dVuH-RWzuPN-dr8YiF-e77d2L-myJ79S-dnPizP-bf44pc-bFp88p-nJVowU-aR1s2V-AqMQB3-dpgrsR-8RhLzf-PBBUK3-9PpCyt-8W389n-FuoZJp-ExRLBh-oi9wnn-cduuzU-byxWAa-EXEXz3-ErvdTn https://www.flickr.com/photos/lickeybanker/13413423505/in/photolist-mriiuv-nzXNun-RoHXQL-c5sfmh-abyD2y-9URffJ-abvMw8-9URcHJ-nYBUuS-nYT9tX-abvN18-9URg2y-abyDE7-8RhLzf-RWzuPN-oi9wnn-PBBUK3-9PpCyt-e77d2L-dnPizP-8W389n-rh4ekd-abyCxA-abvNDV-abyDn1-abyDZ3-dEj8ZV-mQ9xLq-abyCoG-bcJXvR-abyCRS-9URcxC-ryx41Y-dgLYaT-ryCCha-9UNkzK-rh4dPJ-rwm4dj-byxWAa-dr8YiF-myJ79S-FuoZJp-ErvdTn-ExRLBh-EXEXz3-rh4dYS-9UNmet-9e48oE-9UNmDa-cK3177 https://www.flickr.com/photos/72123072@N04/8309846987/in/photolist-dEj8ZV-mQ9xLq-abyCoG-bcJXvR-abyCRS-9URcxC-ryx41Y-dgLYaT-ryCCha-9UNkzK-rh4dPJ-rwm4dj-byxWAa-dr8YiF-myJ79S-FuoZJp-ErvdTn-ExRLBh-EXEXz3-rh4dYS-9UNmet-9e48oE-9UNmDa-cK3177-5pVbxU-4eUBza-5pQUka-5pVcBo-5pVc95-5pVckU-5pQU2i-5pQSA4-5pVbEo-5pVcVd-5pVbdC-5pQTnD-dRK6Qd-5pQSdp-5pVaH1-5pVbSh-dRDwtZ-5pVc23-abvNmv-5pVaPY-dRK5L5-dRDvpv-dRDvB4-dRK69y-dRDtbZ-dRDtSt https://www.flickr.com/photos/tracks_revisited_rtn/36929270291/in/photolist-eME8zf-hNJy19-XwiGzi-r7sGcX-nJVowU-HEJ7ep-biARuK-q7bBLr-ED8Xxf-YgjasK-AqMQB3-aR1s2V-RWzuPN-21LEoww-dpgrsR-dFWHuj-t998Nv-Wm7hWd-VBrQsZ-CNmWHY-mKjhiv-eUqGFC-93DmFV-jeyQYj-HHUDhQ-DipX8H-PBBUK3-zgNRZr-e77d2L-8W389n-dr8YiF-9e48oE-sAWAw4-MiSwMG-myJ79S-mriiuv-YT5fXJ-Yc6ZUN-yMfu6D-YeBod4-bere9k-sAULdx-scq3wz-MW798G-EFgPyi-Pd9TnG-9ctx9H/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/tayrail/38574108402/in/photolist-eME8zf-hNJy19-XwiGzi-r7sGcX-nJVowU-HEJ7ep-biARuK-q7bBLr-ED8Xxf-YgjasK-AqMQB3-aR1s2V-RWzuPN-21LEoww-dpgrsR-dFWHuj-t998Nv-Wm7hWd-VBrQsZ-CNmWHY-mKjhiv-eUqGFC-93DmFV-jeyQYj-HHUDhQ-DipX8H-PBBUK3-zgNRZr-e77d2L-8W389n-dr8YiF-9e48oE-sAWAw4-MiSwMG-myJ79S-mriiuv-YT5fXJ-Yc6ZUN-yMfu6D-YeBod4-bere9k-sAULdx-scq3wz-MW798G-EFgPyi-Pd9TnG-9ctx9H/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/126693116@N06/17813751845/in/photolist-eME8zf-hNJy19-XwiGzi-r7sGcX-nJVowU-HEJ7ep-biARuK-q7bBLr-ED8Xxf-YgjasK-AqMQB3-aR1s2V-RWzuPN-21LEoww-dpgrsR-dFWHuj-t998Nv-Wm7hWd-VBrQsZ-CNmWHY-mKjhiv-eUqGFC-93DmFV-jeyQYj-HHUDhQ-DipX8H-PBBUK3-zgNRZr-e77d2L-8W389n-dr8YiF-9e48oE-sAWAw4-MiSwMG-myJ79S-mriiuv-YT5fXJ-Yc6ZUN-yMfu6D-YeBod4-bere9k-sAULdx-scq3wz-MW798G-EFgPyi-Pd9TnG-9ctx9H/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/scottishlineside/25385987189/in/photolist-eME8zf-hNJy19-XwiGzi-r7sGcX-nJVowU-HEJ7ep-biARuK-q7bBLr-ED8Xxf-YgjasK-AqMQB3-aR1s2V-RWzuPN-21LEoww-dpgrsR-dFWHuj-t998Nv-Wm7hWd-VBrQsZ-CNmWHY-mKjhiv-eUqGFC-93DmFV-jeyQYj-HHUDhQ-DipX8H-PBBUK3-zgNRZr-e77d2L-8W389n-dr8YiF-9e48oE-sAWAw4-MiSwMG-myJ79S-mriiuv-YT5fXJ-Yc6ZUN-yMfu6D-YeBod4-bere9k-sAULdx-scq3wz-MW798G-EFgPyi-Pd9TnG-9ctx9H/ and a proper mixed train - fish vans on the back of a Mallaig service and an air-con coach in there too https://www.flickr.com/photos/47118s-pixs/5380708413/in/photolist-eME8zf-hNJy19-XwiGzi-r7sGcX-nJVowU-HEJ7ep-biARuK-q7bBLr-ED8Xxf-YgjasK-AqMQB3-aR1s2V-RWzuPN-21LEoww-dpgrsR-dFWHuj-t998Nv-Wm7hWd-VBrQsZ-CNmWHY-mKjhiv-eUqGFC-93DmFV-jeyQYj-HHUDhQ-DipX8H-PBBUK3-zgNRZr-e77d2L-8W389n-dr8YiF-9e48oE-sAWAw4-MiSwMG-myJ79S-mriiuv-YT5fXJ-Yc6ZUN-yMfu6D-YeBod4-bere9k-sAULdx-scq3wz-MW798G-EFgPyi-Pd9TnG-9ctx9H/
  6. I didn't really expect KFA container flats as being what the original post was originally wanting. I'm sure the paper was hauled in the same KFA flats that Hornby make. Not really early steam era stock! .... but having said that TTA tank wagons operated earlier than I would have expected. I thought one of the Scottish northern lines (Oban, Kyle or Far North) saw tank wagons tagged on the back of passenger trains with diesel fuel for the boats until late on and the Far North line had freightliner flats that were through piped for steam heat for use with passenger trains https://www.flickr.com/photos/jjm2009/8179354092/in/photolist-dsMk1q-xoSM7y-xDanGW-xG6QnK-xoYW5k-xG7eEg-xFuaFF-xoSskq-wJt7Ad https://www.flickr.com/photos/britishrail1980sand1990s/24151255864/in/photolist-gxLGak-dsMk1q-DUHLMb-CNauXb-r5vEdi-ZhYNHX-Zf7LeS-yZKX9U-xh2NjZ-wYQPRu-xk5Yhz-dsMaGD-pqAToQ-DX2PNd-rmqFN5-ouGBvs-xea2Bj-tmPNXL-xfQKZN-wZaHXg-wGq92x-tAEL77-w2Tdq7-w2Te7C https://www.flickr.com/photos/jjm2009/8179322785/in/photolist-gxLGak-dsMk1q-DUHLMb-CNauXb-r5vEdi-ZhYNHX-Zf7LeS-yZKX9U-xh2NjZ-wYQPRu-xk5Yhz-dsMaGD-pqAToQ-DX2PNd-rmqFN5-ouGBvs-xea2Bj-tmPNXL-xfQKZN-wZaHXg-wGq92x-tAEL77-w2Tdq7-w2Te7C
  7. is that second coach not just a Mk1 RMB Mini-buffet painted in chocolate and cream?
  8. the photo there showed lamp irons on the 370005 end so it may be that some did and some didn't https://www.flickr.c...4-5t3s4Z-5CEZKm
  9. Was the Sealink stock used seasonally? I've seen a photo of them being Class 85 hauled southbound at Carlisle but not sure where to. Similarly I thought the West Highland Green/Cream set spent the winter at Bounds Green and could appear on charters Later in the 1980s there will have been NSE liveried coaches used on charters
  10. I'm surprised too - Maybe the TOPS numbered BR Blue livery is unusually the more popular livery for this class
  11. also loaded with paper rolls from the paper mill at Corpach, sheeted over to protect from the elements
  12. ah right sorry yes, I was thinking it was meant for the contacts to be so the lights worked while the nose was both lifted and lowered. Lamp irons are just above the buffers though .... https://www.flickr.com/photos/nickdrew/5514634742/in/photolist-51g5YZ-9piWMm-21swvNu-GyJ7De-pzJP6X-oy4Vvr-ogSQx9-aTCvdH-ocKp8L-7riQMb-fD1cwT-kVoY5f-kHUqX-qXSpMf-8YvRC1-5wY9bH-djzGk5-9r8wTP-kmPpmr-bBAGUi-WYTycE-66QqDT-7SXFsB-4KKtLW-jvRdBw-ow9egv-oeSXbz-ouQ6TW-bvoa9w-or1du-5BUsv9-owkT1B-obNB5t-obMuEQ-7Ty1iG-owA9GP-crXNzY-5D1s4b-hU1s7W-RkQTJb-7BUs6q-egK9kh-7ijAhA-p8LXc-ygSZ5-ow9GpE-ovpypg-7dC7w4-5t3s4Z-5CEZKm interestingly, none here ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/tunnel_one/36087048284/in/photolist-WYTycE-66QqDT-7SXFsB-4KKtLW-jvRdBw-ow9egv-oeSXbz-ouQ6TW-bvoa9w-or1du-5BUsv9-owkT1B-obNB5t-obMuEQ-7Ty1iG-owA9GP-crXNzY-5D1s4b-hU1s7W-RkQTJb-7BUs6q-egK9kh-7ijAhA-p8LXc-ygSZ5-ow9GpE-ovpypg-7dC7w4-5t3s4Z-5CEZKm-odjamj-XNn7sx-5rgkc-Z5cvUi-KoGWGJ-CXj2Vt-agy6Jr-GymM-5mnKtq-9w6o4D-of1GKN-owr9pe-ouvdig-qNSJhW-odbAxC-odq9oK-fpnFdz-7Jjx42-66UJKq-7hUZLw
  13. would the lights ever be 'on' if the nose was lifted? should the red tail have been shown prior to a loco buffering up? I'd perhaps suggest that clips for the nose to plug into to make the lights work might be unnecessary. However, was a normal portable tail lamp ever clipped on with the nose lifted like that? would something like Bachmanns Mk2s where a working small tail lamp could be clipped on be possible instead?
  14. I think what makes a difference here would be the sums of money involved for the APT would be significantly more than the locos that we've seen crowdfunded so far. it would need careful consideration if we're committing 4 figure sums and there's any possibility of it failing
  15. today's olivias offer looks like 25% off type 5s and class 76s EM1s among other coaches. must be one of the cheaper offers on Class 76s I've seen if anyone wants one
  16. There is today, the website must be playing up as there was a notification out on email list of it being Graham Farish N gauge figures http://sawyermodels.co.uk/?product_cat=advent-calendar
  17. think its previous customers must be getting sent it. Not convinced you're missing much - the ones I've looked at taking the 25% off brings the price down to what you find the same item for elsewhere. I'm sure some of those 'before' prices must've been increased!!!
  18. There was a Crewe Works Open Day during the time when it was being repaired so there will probably be lots of photos of it being repaired ... and probably all at the same point in its repair! ...
  19. Once one batch are produced, its one of those things that I'm not sure would ever come around again but it really was such an iconic train of its era so is worth pushing the boat out to get one
  20. no harm in gauging interest I dont see why there's a queue formed specifying the order in which models should be produced. Was the prototype HST not being commissioned with the NRM so it could well be them rather than Rapido that thought it should be postponed. The APT-P sounded like it would be through crowdfunding, which is quite different to a commissioner coming up with a large sum of money upfront.
  21. was Porterbrook 2 liveries or not just alternative sides on the same loco?
  22. ... but with the vast majority of trains people will travel on now being multiple units ... and a fair proportion of those being EMUs ... how many of those can be purchased as models? even from any era? DMUs are a bit more available
  23. It probably depends on what you consider as being in good health ... I suspect we might be turning a corner towards choppier waters For OO gauge, a large number of the more popular subjects have already been produced in a variety of liveries to a high standard of model. Of course there are some gaps, but not huge gaping ones to aim at and more niche choices of subjects are left. This has to increase risk for those choosing what to produce next. Rising prices doesn't sit well with stagnating wages, rising cost of living or an abundance of second hand models which have been produced in previous years which can still attract prices higher than they were originally purchased for an aging market - I'm not convinced as many newcomers will be enticed into the hobby in future years. Less interest in spotting or modelling at a younger age to then bring folk back at an older age with more time and money later in life We might never have had it so good at the moment, but I do worry where its heading
  24. Bachmann probably also dont want everything from the 2017/2018 catalogue coming out all at once either too though, customers have to have the free cash to buy after all, so they will intentionally spread some of the releases through the year ... even reliveries
