  1. would a single car 158 really give you much more than the existing 153s? They're not an awful lot newer and would it be any easier to make them compliant as single cars?
  2. There might only be one livery for them, but there were lots of locos with this nose to pick and choose from. Even if a batch were split up to tampo print different numbers to increase variety it would surely sell well
  3. good spot with the water tanks. I couldn't quite make out the number or name of the scotrail one even freezing the video. Thought the nameplate would have been longer for 47712 though
  4. Is it not the existing 47079 limited edition model rather than 47500? and is the Scotrail 47 anything other than 47710? I couldn't quite see clearly 47701 would be a good seller with how the 47715 one seemed to sell out quickly
  5. I would have wondered if it'd be a Class 37 as there are some catalogue models due out early in the new year, but there have been quite a few diesel/electric collectors club models recently that haven't always sold well so it might well be steam
  6. was there still Warrington Central to Oxford Road locals in those days? were they DMUs? although they wouldn't have continued through to Picaddilly
  7. Its a nice idea and they are attractive units that I see all the time, but I just couldn't see myself buying either. They'd stand out like a sore thumb with my otherwise 80s and 90s loco-hauled stock. Modern units just dont do anything for me I'm afraid. The cost of a 5 coach Class 180 would also be off-putting for something that is anything less than a must-have for my layout. good luck with it though!
  8. at the very least surely they should be able to add some more chassis castings onto the next production run at minimal extra cost for those of us affected to purchase and fit ourselves. I realise a long time has passed, but if the same part is still in production in one form or another then is it not the least they can do? Its a pretty small market Hornby are aiming at so if they expect us to keep on shelling out £100+ per loco they need to be manufactured correctly and be assisted with faults.
  9. how many of the AC EMUs would you count as being particularly Mk1 based? 302 and 307? 304/305/308? I wouldn't have thought the 303/311s had much in common with Mk1s 309/310/312 were Mk2 based

    Dapol Class 21/29

for next year to be realistic we'd really have to see an EP test shot fairly soon to give time for the painted samples and production
  11. are they not also being released separately? ... at a less marked-up price
  12. Why were they called Skippers in the south west and not just Pacers like everywhere else?
  13. my!!!! thats quite a throaty roar from the Mirlees when it pulls away
  14. Whats the curve like at Bamfurlong Junction from the St Helens line to southbound WCML?
  15. there's lots of photos on that website
  16. I know its only a TTS decoder ... but does anyone else think it sounded a bit more 1st Generation DMU in places there than a proper loco???
  17. there cant be many 5mph curves in use anywhere for passenger trains nevermind main lines can there?
  18. I think some of the former holiday destination stations such as Llandudno or Rhyl where you can see how big and important the stations used to be and they're left just as a shadow of their former glory
  19. I'm banking on the very same fact for when I order one!! .... its just a loco dear!! ...
  20. The curve at Carstairs from the platforms to the Edinburgh line is pretty tight - is that 15mph and canted the wrong way too? also Earlestown from the Manchester to Warrington line is pretty sharp ... although I have seen empty coal hoppers go through there at a surprisingly rapid rate!
  21. When the HSTs worked the Euston-Holyhead services, where were those sets based? Was that still Bounds Green too? or even Old Oak Common being fairly near the WCML?
  22. it is for that reason that I think we'll be heading for more things only produced for pre-orders or more firmer ordering commitments. some manufacturers wouldn't be able to do that just now with the number of basic livery errors they make.
  23. I cant help thinking if we continually demand 100% accuracy then we simply wont see models of these kind of things being produced. A sub-class of 10 requiring a new coach tooling - if they struggle to sell the 350/1s and 350/2s then I cant see those selling any better and the price would be high.
  24. I cant really see them changing that pattern - for a Loksound V4 would it not increase the price by £40 or so with limited obvious differential in quality or benefits other than being reblowable? None of the Class 90s were announced with sound anyway were they? We've not seen a sound Class 85 yet, I'd maybe be surprised if we do see a sound Class 90 - I think they might leave that to the after market to cater for
  25. ... or catch on trackwork underneath as they move along
