  1. I think you probably want to take the windows/glazing out before trying to strip the paintwork
  2. I think the electrics were taken off at carlisle. I don't remember ever seeing electric locos being dragged round via Dumfries unlike drags further south.
  3. I've heard of a class 85 hauled sleeper being diverted down the Rat Hole line out of Euston. that must be pretty rare
  4. I think unfortunately thats around the ball-park of where ready-to-run locos are heading. Fairly bog-standard Class 37s and 47s are £140 at full retail price if not more for limited editions. £130 wouldn't put me off but I perhaps might not get quite so many of them!
  5. you've done a really good job on that and painting it up brings it to life
  6. the full thing looks good! I might be interested in a class 314 but I'd need to have all the parts available before I'd buy any. not really sure what I'd do with perfect cabs if the rest was missing!!
  7. there was a modern locos illustrated on the class 60s a while ago that you probably want to get a copy of
  8. that looks much more like it piranha230!! that Cab end looks much more convincing than the kits I've seen
  9. I was there and never thought to ... I kinda expected it to be widely distributed by Oxford Rail and be in the normal model press
  10. by June it looked like it was swapped though https://www.flickr.com/photos/68729621@N03/12434994813/in/photolist-jWQAJi-8MpmYo-e2FLzU-fyXEwd-E67nEo-hKk8gL I think that might've been the only one though ... and only briefly
  11. I'm struggling to think of the early repaints but I thought 87006, 87012 and 87018 were among the early ones in 1984 onwards. 87006 looks like it had the single arm pantograph in its battleship grey livery. 87012 looks similar and bingo ..... 87018 https://www.flickr.com/photos/tibshelf/10992049206/in/photolist-hKk8gL-cp1FWS-RpniN3-9wxVpN-m2Cb7a-8pSErj-bVF58j-aDeRqZ-bv5iZm-mvJnrd-a6EueR-eaer1v-BbyE6D-qqP5Uv-aUzsmH-bZAHLb-85KKRL-85P2Bi-a6xifC-gtJSSD-rz4fY2-q9zw1v-br3A8A-c9fW3L-9zzhyi-9vChLs-qGtdBU-pT4gHz-FHBV8r-rLbT5s-RoD9gT-hrjmWw-DXn45p-dM29KF-9zzjB2-7xwy5F-8KM9z3-8GSwLk-5dHNaE-9sAT87-96ziHG-oMyusm-q292P9-dga6M5-gtJ9RB-jWPTop-pY9NnH-8wBMDn-a5LXhs-qWiSJp
  12. I gathered that too, but cant see how personal preference can come into it. Same livery different number would be fine or even that number and name but make it Intercity Executive would be fine, but the same livery and number combination thats already been produced is just daft.
  13. I still think its stupid to release 87010 in exactly the same number and livery combination as the earlier Limby model
  14. I cant imagine it was the smoothest or best maintained of track either away out there!!
  15. Its now open although the 'official opening date' is as above
  16. but it has already been produced twice already in RTC red and blue livery by Bachmann. Once as a Rail Express limited edition and the other I think was by Modelzone. While the SLW one is undoubtedly to a higher standard, it could also have an effect on potential sales
  17. the last I heard was the regional rep ones were due September, but I dont know if thats slipped a little
  18. I cant think of ever seeing a photo of a Network Southeast liveried Class 47 on the Trans-Pennine services, but thats not to say it never happened. They did get up to Scotland and Inverness at times so must've got up there somehow!!
  19. they're still getting setup in the new premises by the sounds of it
  20. Have a look for some photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddymacphee/13799100305/in/photolist-n2nZLv https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddymacphee/14832649138/in/photolist-oAHcPY-oAH931
  21. Have part of the bogie frames been used from a Bachmann? One certainly looks like it has a Bachmann branchline logo on the underside
  22. depending on what stock you have, also a Class 110 with 101 middle car https://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/15443396046/in/photolist-pwFrB5-qCCXMQ-qUqCP1-pWMd3n-oTo5xh-cWgavw-ib8h1o-8tJweS-cARatd-k8WgSK-9NHN3X-pCx5cT-dHBGp7-psNfCm-pvhaWK-qCm2wP-qUsrki-qBrmRp-aVtjX4-aVt5Nk-qUsmVr-bvvFmV-apL9WG-qTRLcc-a1SWyr-6PLhmT-avZUVo-aVt1ce-aVsZAx-cLXNJy-aVx3nF-SHPwsi-qCKtSP-aVx2PR-qTMJeM-4NEsAu-5TgmiJ-8xGjRs-4YyrmM-ehp7uM-97Jbad-aVsYvg-dnzPFf-qCkV3g-aVti6p-p5Aau4-qUv6Se-aVtfpg-cd4q23-aVt4yv https://www.flickr.com/photos/markcarter/5779567467/in/photolist-9NHN3X-pCx5cT-dHBGp7-psNfCm-pvhaWK-qCm2wP-qUsrki-qBrmRp-aVtjX4-aVt5Nk-qUsmVr-bvvFmV-apL9WG-qTRLcc-a1SWyr-6PLhmT-avZUVo-aVt1ce-aVsZAx-cLXNJy-aVx3nF-SHPwsi-qCKtSP-aVx2PR-qTMJeM-4NEsAu-5TgmiJ-8xGjRs-4YyrmM-ehp7uM-97Jbad-aVsYvg-dnzPFf-qCkV3g-aVti6p-p5Aau4-qUv6Se-aVtfpg-cd4q23-aVt4yv-pXHPC2-aVx3wB-bX3ADZ-qmk7XG-9TXJBR-8mMZNS-gTyaUo-dMQ3Zx-bzK1cy-fqGnCL and possibly the only example of a Class 110 driving car working with anything else ... mixed with a Class 101 at the other end https://www.flickr.com/photos/dodger5450/12560583515/in/photolist-k8WgSK-9NHN3X-pCx5cT-dHBGp7-psNfCm-pvhaWK-qCm2wP-qUsrki-qBrmRp-aVtjX4-aVt5Nk-qUsmVr-bvvFmV-apL9WG-qTRLcc-a1SWyr-6PLhmT-avZUVo-aVt1ce-aVsZAx-cLXNJy-aVx3nF-SHPwsi-qCKtSP-aVx2PR-qTMJeM-4NEsAu-5TgmiJ-8xGjRs-4YyrmM-ehp7uM-97Jbad-aVsYvg-dnzPFf-qCkV3g-aVti6p-p5Aau4-qUv6Se-aVtfpg-cd4q23-aVt4yv-pXHPC2-aVx3wB-bX3ADZ-qmk7XG-9TXJBR-8mMZNS-gTyaUo-dMQ3Zx-bzK1cy https://www.flickr.com/photos/26871365@N04/12036856823/in/photolist-jkE3bc-mN8W5i-6LfZJC-iqzbQq-6GtLzK-r2RHWG-eh1Wu8-nEJDGC-bVyVyU-quYAF3-6jM1hM-qSaoxb-qBU6Nh-pX1B6b-aVt4Q4-qjWdd3-aVtdMD-qZnoHN-4L9boh-pX1GaQ-qCC4py-7cXpab-qVhAYs-aVt2R2-biZa9H-aVx3AT-jDBzKK-aVx1J4-5Nzq4v-aVt6Uv-ritZFB-aVt3dr-3yfddn-aVtdeP-bxwBLY-pWS56w-qZw1Lx-aVtcVF-EFWySY-8MMf41-aVx1sB-qB7jsr-aVt3NH-ddboDS-qEsV4x-aVtk5x-aVx31X-x4tp6L-bvvEqV-pgryTi and Class 101 with 110 centre car https://www.flickr.com/photos/36034969@N08/32083860880/in/photolist-QT9b4b-aVtju6-aVt4Kc-pXey8k-aVtarR-qBerFb-aVtdoF-iFBwXC-biZ1VF-otpeeC-jkE3bc-mN8W5i-6LfZJC-iqzbQq-6GtLzK-r2RHWG-eh1Wu8-nEJDGC-bVyVyU-quYAF3-6jM1hM-qSaoxb-qBU6Nh-pX1B6b-aVt4Q4-qjWdd3-aVtdMD-qZnoHN-4L9boh-pX1GaQ-qCC4py-7cXpab-qVhAYs-aVt2R2-biZa9H-aVx3AT-jDBzKK-aVx1J4-5Nzq4v-aVt6Uv-ritZFB-aVt3dr-3yfddn-aVtdeP-bxwBLY-pWS56w-qZw1Lx-aVtcVF-EFWySY-8MMf41 With the frequency that Class 110 driving ends were kept together and not used in mixed sets I cant help thinking there would have been a reason for it. They certainly seem to feature less in mixed sets than other DMU types. Although I'm not sure why it would be different to a Class 110 twin set being used with any other type of DMU set
  23. I could only find examples where the centre car was swapped and not driving ends Class 108 centre car https://www.flickr.com/photos/neil_harvey_railway_photos/7116803683/in/photolist-bQTtMM-8V2sB5-B6B7-oTDdfV-pbx6Xs-qCCXMQ-qUqCP1-pWMd3n-psNfCm-pvhaWK-qCm2wP-qUsrki-qBrmRp-aVtjX4-aVt5Nk-qUsmVr-apL9WG-qTRLcc-a1SWyr-58QEx9-Rq1Xm6-fm8Zfw-fkTPmt-fm8Zjs-cNGLhG-fm8ZhA-fkTPjr-6PLhmT-avZUVo-aVt1ce-aVsZAx-bcSV9t-qtFuWD-aVx3nF-SHPwsi-qCKtSP-aVx2PR-qTMJeM-4NEsAu-5TgmiJ-8xGjRs-ejjwh1-ehp7uM-97Jbad-aVsYvg-dnzPFf-qCkV3g-aVti6p-p5Aau4-aVt6DM Class 110 centre car https://www.flickr.com/photos/skiddaw_d3/8739948776/in/photolist-ejjwh1-ehp7uM-97Jbad-aVsYvg-dnzPFf-qCkV3g-aVti6p-p5Aau4-aVt6DM-qUv6Se-aVtfpg-aVt4yv-pXHPC2-aVx3wB-qBhF2w-dqhhqu-qTH9Cn-qB8MbH-rgUZot-aVt8Tc-qUvcrk-dnQHZ1-qCC2qy-7N1ALq-pXNeV3-oUELSb-pWMhDr-qBetaJ-qVn99D-ceNQ6b-qTpnMp-fKpE36-pV3qRu-7NcPgw-e1zt1v-n2k5Ht-qBeups-jDEzzu-qUme16-oshUYY-gBQJUC-aVt33x-dqhsJS-dqh7MF-puowVU-rgRz3h-dqhtp2-S95X71-aVsXZK-rgRAqh
  24. I also understand 6.25kV was used somewhere in the Glasgow network too, depending on where it was, the locos may have encountered 6.25kV on diversionary routes away from the normal 25kV WCML line
  25. One comment I would make on this is that yes, things like the Crosti 9F may be an odd choice for Railroad, but would there really have been enough of a market to do it in full fat and recover the tooling costs? It might be a case of either you get a Railroad model that looks like a Crosti but is at the basic end of the detailing spectrum or no Crosti 9F at all. Its not my kind of thing but from what I saw, I thought they did a decent job with it
