  1. I've not peeked for a while but I have just spent half an hour catching up... I now need to go and lie down Stunningly brilliant ... the clock and the neon sign developments are inspired
  2. I grew up with it too... but I model the 'sector' era. Why? Because it's more colourful. However I have multiple locomotives (in multiple liveries)... I have about 8 x 33's with more on order, 4 x 47's, 4 x 50' s etc... if I modeled the period half a dozen years before I would only want half that number, which I suspect is one of the reasons why 'rail blue' is such a popular subject... ...mind the trains were a lot longer back then so you might need a bigger layout with more rolling stock
  3. Note quite but a punk was involved... by the name of Vivian Who had a nasty moment with an HST in that very same episode of....... ...... The Young Ones! But now it's time to go back to Metroland
  4. Oh yes but that would just about make them just post "who killed Bambi" ... there's a cryptic one for you!
  5. There's some cracking 'deco' here... I can just imagine a young Jeeves and Wooster leaving their abode in the apartment block for another disagreeable meeting with Aunt Agatha.
  6. Looking good.... I soak the Cork in the bath before gluing it down with PVA... as it dries it soaks up the glue and you get a really durable flat surface... but being glue soaked means the cork is even less effective for sound deadening!
  7. Rugby please.... Ive been very good
  8. Only MLV's CEP's and CIG's on the Southern AFAIK ... and not too many of them either.
  9. Liveries. Just a starter I'm sure. Blue (with a variety of yellow ends?) Blue and Grey Blue and Grey with Network flashes NWSE South West Trains Connex Southern (and mix them up with 3VEP and VOP variations) I'd say that there's a pretty broad spectrum
  10. It's a pity that it doesn't quite cut the mustard. Any 2 or 3 problems alone would be tolerable but there seems to be a litany of small niggling issues that punters shouldn't have to accept in the 21st Century. I consider myself a reasonable modeller (I like to think in both senses of the phrase) but why should we have to bring it up to scratch as soon as it leaves the box. I shall wait and see if some of the more annoying features are corrected but until then I shall keep my cash in the wallet. The real shame is that the VEP is the most useful of the RTR 3rd Rail EMU's. They were simply ubiquitous across the electrified network. Oh well it looks like my EMU interests should perhaps go further east... My 2EPB's are adorable and I shall enjoy running them instead (oh if only Bachmann released 2HAP's to the same standard... but I mustn't grumble about near perfection)
  11. I'm pretty sure I got mine from the LT Museum in Covent Garden.
  12. I concede that they are doing rather better in the 50 over format Besides we might need the Australians to do us a favour by not getting whitewashed by SA later in the year so that we remain No. 1 EDIT Eating Humble Pie Australia win a Test Match... well done to them. Quite an achievement beating Sri Lanka in their own back yard.
  13. 2-0 down in the 20/20 series against Sri Lanka I see ... I shall be following the forthcoming test series with interest
  14. Kenton I think you will find it's proportional; Railway modelling isn't, I'm afraid to say, particularly newsworthy but the Olympics, for whatever reason, is. Also, if I may be brutally honest, if you want to moan about the Olympics you're going to whistling in the wind because I assure you your opinion will not make the slightest difference. Besides that's not my point... I was commenting on equality, and a fair crack of the whip against unfortunate stereotypes, something I'm sure we all would agree on. Reason for edit: posted twice.
  15. Isn't it amazing that some of us rightly complain about intolerance towards our hobby but then are very quick to bemoan the interests of others Just a thought
  16. Alas she's a vegetarian, nothing wrong with that but just think of the 'daggers' she'd give you every time you tuck into a steak? So my vote goes to Sophie Wraworth
  17. I was referring to Charlie (it's a Real Track models thread after all) and he is a very principled man
  18. Fair point Charlie, your question was very clear. It's not my place to second guess you. May I wish you the very best of luck with the 'wagons' but can I say I'm more excited about the DMU* *No I haven't the faintest idea what it is but it's fingers crossed
  19. It would very exciting and I'd have one myself but I can't see them stepping on another manufacturers toes (even though it's happened to DC kits many times in the past of course) however things do change.
  20. Trouble is there are kits available for the 07 and that's always been respected in the past.
  21. Quite often (but by no means universal) the ends of van were painted grey when de-fitted. The book Paul Bartlett mentions is invaluable and well worth investing in. Cheers Griff
  22. That looks to be a loaded question... something industrial would be nice rtr... but I wouldn't want to suggest you step on the toes of another manufacturer?... mmm where to start????
