  1. Out of interest and according to Micheal Harris, 3 Mk2a Open Seconds were fitted with disk brakes in 1971 for the ScR. Cheers Griff
  2. From page 1.... kinda spooky really. .... looks like you don't have to wait for the GW electrification!
  3. I like the 'Paddington Bear' structures
  4. So I suspect that despite all the research no one is able to definitively answer the hallowed question... How many 16 ton minerals* were actually constructed? *in total.
  5. don't forget... The Airfix '2 Bob Mineral' improved - MRJ Issue 47 (1991)
  6. You might need some 'black Country' phrases to help you in your project, may I start you off with 'lind yow a rowler'.... ... BTW I don't think there are any pasty shops in Tipton
  7. I's a good job well done... as you said it may not be a P4 masterclass but it's good fun and it ticks the boxes....you see a lot worse than this at exhibitions and in the model press (but I'm not going there ). Carry on enjoying what you do... don't worry that no one has seems to have noticed this thread... there is so much posted it's easy to miss something but remember the main thing is that you get something out of your project for yourself
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-No-R452-exLMS-BR-Class3F-0-6-0T-JINTY-TANK-LOCO-CODE-3-/300601600440?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item45fd4069b8#ht_1253wt_698 I'm trading in my Bachmann Jinty.
  9. Oh and your second point...(sorry another pun)... I think IIRC you need to add another sleeper at the switch end - but I'm not quite so sure about this.
  10. Nope the webs are off the rail centers,,, follow the plan and you will be on track.... sorry bad pun
  11. That was the idea... dual voltage with recovered overhead from Battledown onward to Exeter But it would be nice to see ... in terms of age it would fit nicely with the Island line LT stock
  12. I can't remember if it was a 'Railway World' or a 'Railway Magazine' April fool from 30 years ago but it went along the lines of Class 76 locos replacing 33's on the Waterloo Exeter ... now I wonder what a 76 would look like in NSE?
  13. Must have been sound chipped... I have passed Markeaton Park many times but I have never seen anything move on the line ... Be it kin to English Electric or anything else ... but I think they need a Bulleid Leader

SVC layout has been in the model press... I believe both BRM and RM but not 100% percent sure??? but it's definitely had exposure... but your are correct as it has been around for more than a couple of years (probably nearer 3,4 or 5). Edit - (According to SVC website extant since 2008)
  15. Well done... I'm in agreement with everyone else on it being a really nice job (and we all know it will run nicely too)... can't help thinking that this should have been the variant that Bachmann should have done - those lovely bright livery options - but never mind you have got one all to yourself.... enjoy
  16. look up alternate meanings of 'crank' in a thesaurus B)
  17. You have taken the wrong end of the stick... I was referring to the Hornby end... apologies for the confusion.
  18. No problem... believe me your'e frustration is fully understood I was merely trying to rationalise the situation. Although it's obvious that the situation is far from being anywhere near rational
  19. ... apparently the 'webmaster' at Hornby had other things to do... what I'm not exactly sure
  20. TBF it's got to come out first somewhere and didn't Andy York scoop the news about the replacement EPB bodies when their numbers were transposed?
  21. I've not peeked for a while but I have just spent half an hour catching up... I now need to go and lie down Stunningly brilliant ... the clock and the neon sign developments are inspired
  22. I grew up with it too... but I model the 'sector' era. Why? Because it's more colourful. However I have multiple locomotives (in multiple liveries)... I have about 8 x 33's with more on order, 4 x 47's, 4 x 50' s etc... if I modeled the period half a dozen years before I would only want half that number, which I suspect is one of the reasons why 'rail blue' is such a popular subject... ...mind the trains were a lot longer back then so you might need a bigger layout with more rolling stock
  23. Note quite but a punk was involved... by the name of Vivian Who had a nasty moment with an HST in that very same episode of....... ...... The Young Ones! But now it's time to go back to Metroland
  24. Oh yes but that would just about make them just post "who killed Bambi" ... there's a cryptic one for you!
