  1. Might be no secret there, but 'm sure you realise I can't publish our notices! Bear in mind that nothing is set in stone at this stage.
  2. Doesn't affect them too much! We've had our official instructions today; clearly I can't post the notice though. I can say that Monday 8th will see through services via Hatfield with the gradual reintroduction of others for a full resumption on 29th July.
  3. There are test trains running this week but we've not been told anything about the recommencement of services!
  4. For a mainline in this era it would be far less likely than FB. To be honest FB in woods would be more likely than concrete and BH.
  5. If the 9F is moving under direct instructions from the signaller and there's a clear understanding, they may have felt there was no need for lamps. The lamps are only there to tell interested parties what class of train it is, but if all involved know, then the crew may not have bothered. Not strictly how it should be (unless the box instructions allow for it) but things don't always happen as they should!
  6. I thought we talking about the older PCB concretes you could get! Things have changed since I did 2mmFS! Looking out of the window here, you'd struggle to pick out clips which are a 100 yds away. Once you come to S&C, which for your proposed scenario would be, IMHO, still on wooden bearers it may be worth using either chair plates from the Association or making youre own from shim. FB pointwork still uses quite substantial baseplates. In this instance using solder paste maybe be worth while as little extends higher than the foot of the rail. Though the larger Pandrols used on S&C are much more noticable than on plain line.
  7. I'd rather have nothing than blobs of solder on FB; maybe look at etching clips to add cosmetically?
  8. They'd be very, very small in 2mm though - you may be best using perhpas a tiny bit of solder paste between the rail and sleeper.
  9. You can retro fit the Hornby bogies into a Lima model - http://eastmoor.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/project-31-finale.html
  10. KC was sold off with the Council retaining shares (for control) and customers offered shares. The proceeds of these did, in part I believe, fund the new stadium. Both City and Hull FC play at the KC. Just a shame the destroyed an old and very well established cricket ground in the process.
  11. It's still independent though. We're outside its area but Beverley is KC.
  12. One other thing is that 'signallers' will tell people they are 'signalmen' when asked as the public, or at least a good chunk of them, still seem to know what a signalman is
  13. Nobody ever picked me up for answering the direct line from Broomfleet with 'Crabley Creek Power Box'
  14. There are quite significant difference between working on preserved railways and reinstating a four track mainline. There's also the added pressure of numerous TOCs and FOCs watching as well as the media keeping an eye on things. The whole operation and the modern process of project management is wider than many enthusiasts might imagine. I work at a junction which has been directly affected by the rerouted services and speak to people connected with the project from time to time. The main issue hasn't been relaying the track. As you know putting track in is the easy bit! It has been ensuring the ground was stable enough to make the whole thing worthwhile - no point sorting it only for another slip to it up in a few months. So while much of the work on moving the tip is off railway property, the whole operation has been carried with the railway keeping a very close eye on operations from what I understand. Clearly the pit owners won't want a repeat either!
  15. I think Wally has been the only person to use the word 'simple' in relation to Hatfield!
  16. Depends which box you ring as to whether the "signaller" or "signalman" answers! One known to the Stationmaster and myself always answers the phone with 'signalman'!
  17. Tamper and freight drivers will be the first drivers over the route so they may be able to conduct passenger drivers who can then resign the route perhaps? This was explained at my safety brief yesterday - will make my life a little quieter when it reopens! There was talk of April 2014 at one point!
  18. The distant associated with that signal might not be capable of showing a green aspect if a diverging route has been set - that may need to be checked.
  19. I think they were pretty much straight away. I've heard a lot more than I can share publically about the goings on and the various knock effects of the whole incident.
  20. That looks superb! And is that the working point rodding I can see?! You should see the one at Brough East, considering the size of the building housing the relay room you never guess the box opposite is two lines, absolute block each way with a crossover and a level crossing! It's enormous! One thing I heard was that it was it was built to such a size with foundations suitable to allow a second storey for a powerbox to take control of a good chunk of the line.
  21. Yes, "we" as in Network Rail! Everything I hear is "we this", "we that" when Hatfeild's mentioned!
  22. In theory we have to foot the bill but I think there must be a lot going on behind the scenes to chase the colliery's parent company for compensation. And it's not just freight companies - there have been major changes to services on the North bank too.
  23. I think that's just the dirty colour GBRf's wagons go after a while.
  24. I like that my posts can generate 'disagrees' - shame those disagreeing won't enter into debate in the threads though.
