  1. The 40 fault wasn't an issue with the back to backs, it was the pony wheel which had so much movement that it derailed the bogie, we sussed it out on a layout one afternoon. The fix was a doddle 4 pieces of plastic tube sleeved over the pony axles, easy to do but took longer to suss out why it was doing it. I agree more pics but would say this one is a winner. What next a Class 56? I've heard rumours!
  2. First thing I thought was thank god it's not out till 2017 pocket money talking a big hit this year already! Overall and I think you have to look at Heljan models like that, is that it's not bad. I agree with the rebate issue just been comparing it to the Bachmann one, can't see any issues with the nose but maybe there is. It is going to be one hell of a chunk I agree. For me class 25 no, class 45 yes.
  3. I have bought seven of their diesel o gauge models but I'm sitting out on this one I think others have and will do better, I would rather do a jltrt for this even with the extra cost
  4. And D9009 went back in post steam br blue which looked like the pics of Pinza D9007 in those shots often seen at Fountainhall and Riccarton. Who would have thought this possible when the line was shut and again when the Deltics were withdrawn, like I said pure magic.
  5. Thanks for the info about the paid version, I would like to draw simple structures like brick bridges then maybe advance to greater things. To be honest I would like to be able to take advantage of new processes like 3D printing and laser cutting, it seems a shame to miss out on it.
  6. I tried a free download version of qcad which ran for 24 hours and thought it was easier to use than autocad, do you use the £33 version?

    Dapol 08

Just pre ordered numberless blue and green from hattons they are estimating July for delivery.
  8. Twenty sounds expensive enough, anyway would be pleased to have the problem of choice, hurry up Dapol!
  9. Had a great trip down the line behind D9009, a railway society had a sales stand at Tweedbank which was a nice touch I hope they raised a few pounds for their cause. Wouldn't it be great if the line was extended but the cost may prevent it, I hope not. The Deltic managed 100mph on the return trip to York - magic!
  10. Considering a rake myself but how many would constitute a rake, was thinking about 20 myself, any other ideas? Also heard a rumour Heljan are considering a 56 just to whet appetites.
  11. Thanks for the qcad advice, a friend has autocad but I've tried to get my head round it with limited success I think it's too complex perhaps qcad might be easier. I want to do similar things such as brickwork.
  12. You may have already covered this previously but can I ask what CAD software you are using.
  13. How do you create an account if you have already reserved a class 15 , I can't seem to find a link.
  14. 03 announcement on Tower's website today.
  15. Was the ARP signal box a widely used design in wartime, I only ask because it looks very similar to a grainy video of some wartime boxes in the York / Selby area. The only difference is these had quite a tall chimney attached to them. I presume the jutting out bit was a lavatory.
  16. Scratch build in plasticard would be interesting and cheaper too. Might be good for other quirky departmental stuff if you can find some drawings.
  17. I hope you don't peg it but I think we will all be a lot older by the time they finally get round to selling them! I've had a Class 41 on order with Kernow Models for 6 years!
  18. Received 829 Magpie today. To me it is one of Heljans best so far, I didn't realise how short and compact the Warships were, perfectly finished and looks great with other blue Western Sentinel and Falcon.
  19. I want two consett ore class 24's from around 1974 tops or pre tops numbered, so there's an order straight away for two locos!
  20. I can't really see the attraction with DJH diesels they cost a lot of money aren't that easy to construct and the ready to run stuff coming out now looks better. Any diesel kits would have to be JLTRT, DJH is old hat and expensive as well.
  21. I think they should have done Kestrel next but no one listens to me! Especially my wife! Nth Degree I sympathise.
  22. Hi saw the write up in BRM and read about it online, you have done a great job capturing the eastern region permanent way which is often neglected in detail. By that I mean relics left over from the LNER and modern additions like you have shown with the concrete cable trunking! You have inspired me! A permanent way hut would look good too. Congratulations.
