I,can never quite work out Heljan they spend what you would think plenty of time developing a model only to release it with issues, is. Class 55, 40, 52 now 60. Personally it doesn't really bother me but seems a wasted opportunity.
I'm not going to criticise I always get shot down in flames for having a go at Dapol for being slow apparently I just have to wait, and wait and wait.....
I used to buy a lot from hattons mainly Bachmann wagons in big batches every few months, it has been difficult doing this what with availability and general price hikes but the pre owned stuff really puts me off shopping at hattons it's like they want you to buy this stuff, I don't and I can't be bothered sifting through the endless lists of the stuff. Hattons are a no no for me now.
I suppose they are struggling getting the models to sell from Hornby and Bachman like everyone else but I can't see how they make up their prices for what is basically people's broken cast offs in some cases. Can't be doing much for their reputation, I would rather deal with lthe likes of homes or invicta.
On the subject of power draw on Heljan motors we were struggling to sort out the derailing problems with the class 40 which was a really easy fix if anyone is interested and the current draw from both motors never got above 1 amp.
Point taken, I certainly agree they're not rushing it but come on 5 years! Regular updates to customers on progress and anticipated delivery times wouldn't be a bad thing to do, it just seems a tad arrogant of them to expect people to hang around waiting for this sort of stuff.
i do agree with you to some degree, the deltic was pretty bad, but maybe I was being too critical. It wouldn't take much to get their models nearer the mark.
i was contemplating the Heljan 40 or JLTRT but for me I have little time so Heljan won and to be honest I could overlook the incorrect details, that's my view anyway. I would love a centre Headcode 37 maybe a centre Headcode 20 as well.
Looks like a call to Howes on Monday to book mine. Very crisp moulding of the grilles stunning paint job. I hope this time next year it will be kestrel!
Top photo looks like Crepello adjacent the paint shop at the plant not a usual view it must be said probably 1978/79 before white cabs applied. Fantastic record photo!
