  1. Agreed, I would just love a prototype HST, came close with Rapido but slipped the net again.....
  2. I would swop guises to either Class 89 or HST prototype, both would have the wow factor and Hornby wouldn’t do these. Silly to try and take on Hornby as irritating as it may be with the 91.
  3. Just checked my DVLR loco pic and it does have a black band on top of the bonnet but Heljan have extended a little too far down, should be easy to sort out though. Can’t wait for mine maybe Tuesday from Hattons. Then the BR blue one ooooh!
  4. Yes agreed with the crest I'll have a look when it turns up, if not I'll change it when I renumber it D2111 (Railtec) the last passenger special on the DVLR to Cliffe Common Jan 1965. I bet there are a few variations with the stripes so might take a view on how they look, Heljan yellow on BR Green always looks a bit pale to me ah well.
  5. Not too impressed with the pics of the 03 on Hattons website. The BR crest colours look poor and the wasp stripes stop over the bonnet stop with a black strip. Looks like a bit of airbrushing needed, not welcome on a £350 model!! Especially when Dapol can do a nice Y1 for £150...
  6. 16 has always been second best since the DPS overlooked it for the better mechanical condition of 19 in early 1982. It’s a shame really but wrong place wrong time.
  7. Have you tried o gauge yet, I highly recommend it!
  8. Not criticising previous posts including this one but are we not sick of hearing the letters DJM and APT in the same sentence it’s as if he was genetically linked to train. I ordered one but got my cash back and feel sorry for those who didn’t. I hope the association Hornby brings to the APT is successful I will buy one but would never ever crowd fund again. It’s great to see a professional business producing this icon.
  9. XL must be overkill for this model surely.
  10. Interesting pricing strategy from Bachmann yes, we’ll all be offloading them onto eBay in readiness for the definitive 37 from Accurascale. Someone should tell Bachmann not to bother.
  11. Just to give the Accurascale chaps a big thanks for bringing to us the definitive oo gauge Deltic (I really hope they might do a 7mm one sometime too!) a pic from the past, 38 years ago in the past - god that's frightening I was 14 !! It's 55022 on the last 0550 KX to Edinburgh taken at Selby around 0830 on 31st December 1981, my last ride behind a Deltic in BR service from Selby to York (we couldn't afford the big railtour on the 2nd Jan but this was a great second best for me) I took the pic and my dads holding the standard issue sky blue Adidas bag! Remarkably me, the bag, my dad, 55022 and Selby station are still around except the centre two roads through the station. Great days for those who were around to see it all unfold. Apologies for the poor picture quality it was grim and dark.
  12. Great thanks for the info.
  13. Seems to have gone quiet on the Class 03 delivery date, anyone heard anything. I thought now the 50’s were sorted these maybe the next due in January.
  14. Thanks I was hoping not to varnish and thanks for the advice railtec. I’ve used Tamiya xf86 before but not on such a massive area.
  15. Have you used the film free decals from railtec, I was hoping to avoid airbrushing the whole body side to seal them in but I can’t see a way round it. If you have what varnish did you use. Can anyone make a suggestion.
  16. Totally agree I don’t have much spare time so it’s rtr for me.
  17. I sort of agree but a lot of people just put them on the shelf and run them when they can on a club layout maybe, so 2 power cars would look pretty cool. Let’s face it a power and a dummy same moulding and the numerous liveries I think it would sell. Saw Ben Jones at Leeds he might have been weighing things up.. How many folks run full length oo rakes not many I would say same problem space etc.. agree a damn sight more expensive. Look I have loads of Heljan stuff if they announced a two car set I would pay for it.
  18. I compared the front end to a JLTRT casting and there’s not much in it, they’ve done a good enough job for me not saying something might irritate a 50 fan on it somewhere. I think 594 is a steal for this.
  19. Yes I have seen the snout looks good too. Was hoping for a RTR example for the lazy modeller ie me lol...
  20. Just got my large logo one this morning and I must say despite the posts about shape etc. this has to be one of Heljans best models so far well done.
  21. Just been on the last LNER HST run into Kings Cross yesterday, what a great day with massive interest. Even saw Ben Jones at Leeds!! So what about a 7mm version...Heljan or Dapol. Even power cars only would pretty good, but I’m sure coaches would sell too.
  22. Nah gone over to the dark side and o gauge diesels Class 50 on its way in the post!!
