  1. The research was of course because of the very much delayed recovery from anaesthetic of some people and the 'paralysis' that the said 'relaxant' caused. Cannot this remember the name of the prominent initial research doctor but remember seeing her with a permanent disability as a result of said chemical
  2. Hope @O@Olddudders birthday went well. Brings to mind the 60s - suxmethonium sensitivities and working on cholinesterase's etc. ... cup of tea brought round an placed on bench ... and in one TB lab worked in the 'boss' was quite happy sticking a hot wire into sputum and 'spits' flying around. Mentioned it 'higher up' and was 'moved'. Then came the real work and things greatly improved, in fact, very quickly ... Aberfan as well as the utter disaster for the children and families had an enormous 'knock-on' effect on overall health and safety. The problem now is 'elf and savstie' where 'spurious hazzards' are used with dreams of paper because some twit is too lazy to do an appropriate risk assessment to stop people doing appropriate work and this in turn affects some attitudes to real and necessary health and safety at work. (rant over)
  3. Probably cheaper to go 'Gold' with the postage costs and of course the delay. It will therefore be a while before you catch up on Andy's latest 2-pages in RM.
  4. Not so nice when they hit on and smash your skylight window ... I also remember one that probably had a twisted stick because it went right through a normal hospital window.
  5. But without them RM web and others would not be able to function ... its annoying but a fact of modern digital life.
  6. Van Tam tried not to diss the politicians but said enough to be concerned.
  7. Hi Guys, Just a quicky as it has taken a long time to catch up following 20 odd hours with an unreliable electricity supply caused by 70mph winds. Mouse also playing up so abandoned the usual 'likes' etc. Pleased to hear that Simon's wife I now on treatment , hope the NHN does get quick and preferably permanent relief. Insulation comments interesting as too the ground source/heat pump (cannot quite remember which) that confirmed that although apparently a great idea that even with the government grant I would probably need to live to130! to recover all the additional costs. Need the storage so with insulation couldn't possibly put araised floor in the roof area. Hope England can win T20 but great to see how they beat the Australians this time ... will that be repeated in the tests?. Pakistans last 10 overs ... wow. Hope to get back to normal visiting later this week.
  8. So might be the right thing to call it!
  9. Congratulations to you both -hope your 'stay in' is special.
  10. Simon, that is dreadful. Seems as if your wife was discharged far too early. Thoughts with you and your family.
  11. Not sure what happened here but ionise the second time this week. Something to do with charging by the mile ... ah yes petrol/diesel already do so as long as it is not an extra charge. EV suppose will come but currently hybrids are not that environmentally friendly and current EVs are only good for a local run as there range is still US. Happy Birthday @jamie92208 and Happy Anniversary 50 and legal @TheSignalEngineer
  12. Forgot to mention - loved the video and reminds me that somewhere I've 2 150s and 2 153.
  13. Now what was that you said about the bank ... ?
  14. Look at it this way - you have notoriety!
  15. Probably not intentional but 'waiting for meds' seems to be the main reason why discharge is delayed in a number of places.
  16. @TheQ so all your work has paid off and you have a very serviceable boat. Question - how do you rate 'Samsonugs' in terms of warranty needs on washing machines? Just a question. PM - should know how to wear a mask - what an example.
  17. Absolutely, I have no doubt that a reason for you to be asked to be become Curriculum Leader is/was because of your integrity. Memory struck - going back a bit there was a lot of stick in the FE '£30 handout' times with refusal to sign the chits as the 'designated criteria had not been reached' and not just from students the latter often exclaimed "I've turned up" as if that was enough. What is/was the long term point of effectively stating that students had reached a level of attainment when they obviously had not put in the necessary learning input or practical work required. They would not be competent in their future workplace. I also well remember being in early one morning and taking a telephone call from a section head stating they were sick and would not becoming in - from the response they had thought that they would be leaving a message. The person was due a disciplinary as team members had raised queries about 'passes'. The person was never seen again, the case was proven, the fall-out involving going through all student work in that section was diabolical and of course the good students suffered tremendous delays before official confirmation of success from the awarding body. Apologies Andy but hope that you do not have to work through such a process.
  18. I hate needles but was much 'happier' on the 'taking' side but the back of the hand ... your post sent quite a few 'picture' memories of being on the wrong end of the sad needle. Babies were quite a challenge. 15 tubes( iLD and BSW01) - the mind really boggles at just what was being requested, never experienced anywhere near that many as a request in my 35 years in pathology departments.
  19. Andy - very pleased to see that sentence knowing some of the hassle that you have had in the past few years - and hope that truly with your new permanent employment life will settle and everything improve. Obviously things will not get really great until a certain team get a new owner and both sides of the family can enjoy their football.
  20. Like others have had third jab (Moderna this time) plus flu. Currently both arms still feel sore and had a sleep this pm but not the problems of Neil. Improving now and able to get on ER early but still feel tired so looks like an early night.
  21. More than annoying - this is part of the check before the patient leaves the phlebotomist so should definitely not have happened. Think you will have a second look at the labelling on Monday and hope that when analysed there is nothing sinister.
  22. Not quite the station but the road down from Lichfield often gets flooded quickly and I seem to remember a depth of 7' under the bridge that crosses the road circa 2008.
  23. Hope it goes well from now on.
