  1. He'd be a giant on a 4mm layout and as such would not be able to hide but ... maybe make some easy money via "appearances at".
  2. Thinking of you and especially Debs and Sue' family.
  3. Oops - think it should have been jet DC5 or even DC6? - Air Canada 60s similar time of the VC10. Dakota much earlier.
  4. Dentists and emergency only. Similar to Barry - filling broke January ; appointment March - cancelled for good reason. Later, August, telephoned and was given an appointment for September. On the due day, arrived at the pay car park and at the appointed time I appeared to find the door closed ... pushed the bell for message, told them that I had arrived for my new 'filling' appointment only to be told "We are only open for emergencies". No further appointment and now a second filling is no longer in place ... Aircraft - only DC3; VC10; BA111; Vanguard, are all that I remember although a trip to Switzerland for a course, must be approaching 30 years ago by now, involved three aircraft out and three back. Did not write them down and cannot remember any of them now. Just remembered a Dakota even earlier than the VC10 and DC3.
  5. Like everything that goes missing its always in the last place you'd look for it. Followed topic but currently way beyond my knowledge - apologies.
  6. That also seems to have been the case with both of mine and for one there may have been a reason ... and for that matter both my Grandmothers although I did once meet a great aunt at an aunts ... but Dad didn't seem to know when he heard.
  7. John, remember Huw Weldon's Monitor. Our first dog many many years ago appeared as a surprise. Dad appeared one Saturday morning after 'club' and produced a black mongrel puppy. He had seen it badly treated by the son of the owner, was not happy and said that he would take it with him - agreed. The very first thing the puppy did was to chase a bird up the garden path and from that time on she was known as 'Beryl the Peril' and lived up to her name. She would happily let anybody in but not out and barked well. The plus, a would be thief was trapped and apprehended. Our last, a Labrador, was being hounded (pun not intentional) by a Jack Russell and BiL took pity on it and acquired it ... and brought her to us. She gave us 14 fantastic years and we know and appreciate Sir Topham's reaction to his beloved cat. In between times two cats were both lost unfortunately by road kill after which it was decided that there would not be another.
  8. Cousins - have found this interesting and 56 somewhere along the line. This led me to think just how many we have/had as 5 have already departed, one we haven't heard of since he moved, age wise he may now be deceased, one we have not seen or heard from for over 20 years and Australia wise - one but we have no idea as relevant uncle moved out there just after WW1 following demob. Last heard of in 1975 after which his address 'disappeared' although we know the surname survives as at that time we knew of 5 1st cousins once removed. Hence of the 14 nine remain.
  9. Full marks to Gwiwer for observation and action. Photographs can be misleading. Mr and Mrs PBB wish Gwiwer and Mrs G a very happy Silver Wedding Anniversary ... if he needs to be up early for the House of Fun he will not see this until tomorrow so these wishes will be delivered appropriately. In other aspects I was expecting a thing that runs on parallel strips of metal but the parcel was much bigger than expected ... it had a big red box, a 'fraction' number and a resin plaque ... looks good but time will tell if that is where it will stay.
  10. Apatite - interesting how a mis-spelling can be relevant. Geologically Apatite is a mineral with some good properties. It clears confusion and frustration, reducing irritability and awakening the inner self. It expands knowledge and truth and eases sorrow, apathy, and anger. Physically, Apatite aids in the absorption of calcium, helping cartilage, bones and teeth; healing bones and encouraging the formation of new cells. So there you are your morning walk is doing you some good!
  11. Worth listening to - 'one dead, one paralysed and me off for 6/12'
  12. Bear weighed in at 83/84Kg back in March - one of these days I might understand what these strange units mean in terms of people weights - stones and lbs, now there's a system that I do understand. Perhaps even stranger is that in chemistry and physics SI units were always used and in shopping (not that I actually do much of that) have grown used to these 'odd' measurements. That has just brought up the memory of the chart in the corner of the first classroom 960 farthings make one pound together with all the other aspects of that currency and of course seeing someone with a big white £5 note with black printing handed over to someone at London Airport - now Heathrow - for a flight round the airport on a visit must be nearly 70 years ago. Cheques still have at the end xN new pence and that expensive change happened in 1970-71.
  13. Unfortunately canot follow this one up, as every time I think I would be interested in their comments, on entering the site they ask for money - a no no.
  14. Thank you. Hope tonight's surprise went well and that you are able to have a great week. We will be totally on our own on Monday for the first day for many months as our niece is at last able to return to work many thousands of miles away tomorrow. Replacement tiles and some pointing has been carried out on the club building so it is back in use under strict maximum number pre-booked conditions of numbers and sanitising and for those who know us 'O' what a surprise D*C now in place.
  15. and Andy. Yes, and I like the three buttons but on this one and the repeat there were no buttons. This was probably due to the fact that the original post pre-dated the upgrade. The good news is that it has not appeared on this reply. Thanks to those wishing us well.
  16. 'Digital' was the intention but the bridge does really get in the way but itself was not big enough to site the panel.
  17. Brilliant! Same problem as The Q - but no edit buttons visible at the moment so I thought that I would submit and then edit ... but again no edit ... Monday is our Silver Wedding - was always going to be low-key but current situation and unwillingness to go out means it will be even lower key but ... I have planned a small surprise so hope that will help.
  18. Over the past few weeks things have been a bit hectic so not much achieved, however I have been doing the odd thing on Cadley Hill. The first following the storage 'boxes' as above that incidentally became useful as a 'bench' to work on once I decided that the bridge actually made the manual point operation difficult. Decided that the Gaugemaster surface point motors ordered when the thought was first in mind had arrived were now the only option so the 'bench became useful. I had a TRNZ point position indicator block in stock from some years ago and decided to try and put it in - ... mistake, out of my comfort zone but continued and therefore needed a mimic board but where? No diagram and using 12v DC and 15v AC with no diagram to follow. Chased on the internet and eventually great help by provision of a diagram from Steve of BLOCKsignalling indicating that the unit was Shockwave 3 and approaching 10 years old. Carried on regardless and made some elementary mistakes in wiring that a club member has now, hopefully, put me right and in total have spent hours on various formats to now. I've decided to check it out tomorrow but before I left it just now at least all the points were working ... but did need me to glue some of the pull bars on a couple of the point motors stop them pulling off when power was applied. One thing that has happened with all the wiring and undo and redo is that my soldering skill has improved. Less than an inch behind the mimic board meant that I wired up using tag boards on the base. Diagrams will be the mimic board, PowerPoint on paper glued to a bit plywood and the underneath with, hopefully, everything connected in the right places and the current (pun not intended) wiring situation. Green return/ yellow is point motor common, TRNZ required the returns from both power sources to be linked for the system to work (find out if the lights work tomorrow. Programming track is unlit.
  19. Remember an incident well ... hope there is not a repeat.
  20. Oh what joy to be able to access without the forgetful regime. Managed to get rid of the picture this morning - the 3 buttons work and is a great improvement. Agree with others that this morning it has been slow but to be able to get onto the site directly is a great improvement so thank you Andy Y. Hope Mrs NB's new job makes it a pleasure to get up in the morning but to be made redundant after 40 years does not speak well of the recent management. Hope Junior NB is able to get back into work/training asap. BSW01 - really great news from the Christie. Jamie, best wishes to Beth for her scan.
  21. Brilliant! Hi Guys, I was just going to write that this evening that I had been able to access RMweb without the need to forget my password when the above reappeared. I know it was brilliant but did not need to repeat it after a day or two. The other comment to make was 'the list' for content I follow -- suddenly quite long ... but at least I was able to log on. Let's hope this latter continues.
  22. Still need to 'forget my password' to get on but 'content I follow' in terms of ER has multiple references. Last time round many of my followed topics 'disappeared' from my list and without he need to keep forgetting .... trying to remember what I was intending to write!
