  1. Sorry to see that but, just in case, it has to be presented should the need arise to stop the 'normal' response, it cannot be 'told' although the ambulance service can normally find the record. NB The unnecessary extra trauma of a FiL could have been avoided. Hope that helps.
  2. Ooops - Happy Birthday Lawrence. Would be nice to see you at Easter. Peter
  3. and Polybear - if it it so boring then the management are not taking enough care of their workers. At work place of employment. Bored. Bored bored bored bored bored. Still, only 38 days 3 hours and 27 26 minutes to go. Then I'm outta here, permanently. Then they can go poke it. Yippee. Still bored though. These sort of changes triggers confusion and then they wonder why moral goes and people leave ... unfortunately it is normally driven by greed somewhere along the line that has caused the initial problems. If there was more focus on the needs of the staff ...
  4. The Hilman Imp was good on the racetrack ... remember them racing the feet off the Minis before the main British Grand Prix F! event in the 70s
  5. After 70 you have to pay for an eyesight test and a medical to 'prove' that you are fit to drive ... repeated every three years after that although if you agree to only drive a car it becomes easier. Andy - panic mode will raise your BP ... just quieten down!
  6. I used to be indecisive ... now I'm not so sure springs to mind.
  7. Take heart, at least they got back on to winning ways this last weekend.
  8. Slightly out Andy - North Yorks - near Northallerton ... he would have to be Leeeeeming long way but with the noise of jets he would not get a chance to 'sleep on the job'.
  9. Andy, It can't be your memory if you can remember that you had memory!
  10. Good to hear that you have support and the dogs are taking advantage! Enya's piece is great although haunting.
  11. Swad Lane was sold last year. I had to cancel 4 in 2018 - we spent 22 weeks looking after our granddaughter and I did not have room at home to store it. Deesdale Road is still around and went out in July 2019. I would be happy to be on the circuit with it, old as it is although it does now have some working points' as well as the old wire pull ones. I have ideas on producing an N-gauge 'replica' because it has many different options to keep me interested so with enough room to set up I can then run it in my 'Engine Shed' I do have the 'skeleton' Cadley Hill that Andy P tired of but apart from a 'test run' have not spent any time on it at all. Home layout wise I was not happy on Rothley (and Swithmore in place of a fiddle yard) so ripped up most of the track ... Andy P noticed that I had boards on the rest as it has now become a 'store'. Family, club 'politics' and adding to the main club OO layout has taken up a lot of time although I have also built a small N-gauge layout in an old gun-box approx 7" x 48" with three platforms and four sidings all options via a single DC wired central point i.e.'proper measurements!
  12. Your craftsmanship is superb George - seems I'm on the right thread now.
  13. Not sure how RM works but my 'followed topics' seems to be down to 3 so I wished I'd written them all down. Saw your response to Andy P so will now look back on this thread. Hope you have a great 2020 year of retirement and loco building. Cheers, Peter
  14. … and he was deadly serious!
  15. Very useful charts. Remember it all well. !947 primary school, high up on the left-hand wall was the chart from farthings and all coin denominations to £1 notes - not that we ever saw any of those then but did later see a white £5 note in a café in the days of Marilyn Monroe and husband Arthur Miller. Early days cheques pence were written as new pence and in terms of cheques I still write 'new pence' just coming up to 50 years on from the change. Also remember the 'mathematics' used and wondering why it was not the type of 'old pence to new pence equals X new pence' rather than '5 new pence plus 5 new pence equals 10 new pence' that was broadcast. Have however relatively recently stopped converting back!
  16. Hope Sherry does not have to wait too long for the taxi and gets proper treatment soon. and of course that the train is at least on time.
  17. Agree on both counts … irresponsible to have 22 children in this day and age … all use resources. Plastics in place of metal where practical came because of 'dwindling' metal resources … and where are the main sources of the essential resources that TV screens etc. need!
  18. Good tongue in cheek response John … French nuclear is 50% or so nuclear from what I remember.
  19. As were the Normans who came over in 1066.
  20. Because the proponents do not take any notice of local objections and always take to appeal. They are also ugly. HMG wants us all to go to EV but without nuclear power there is no way that the amount of electricity required will be possible. On another take I seem to remember that someone has published a paper on a battery type that costs almost next to nothing but a comment on it stated that commercial interests would make sure that it would be squashed and never be put into action.
  21. And Donald Dewar was probably the best and first First Minister they have ever had before the unfortunate demise after the Alexander Hospital visit.
  22. And thereby 'reducing' to the 'nucleus' nuclear state and therefore still supporting.
