  1. Thanks - must be his son - makes more sense. I have to admit I was expecting somebody else to respond. Perhap's he's enjoying a celebratory night out in Blackpool. Hope he's going to bring all his virtual mates on here some virtual rock home LOL
  2. wonder if anyone on here could tell us whether the Cort who scored for CHARLTON today in their impressive AWAY WIN is Carl Cort? If he is he is nearly as old as me! Suprised the sheltered housing scheme let him out to go all the way to Blackpool.
  3. I think you missed an opportunity to build the tension and anticipation to a massive crescendo over a period of days! Nobody else seems to have picked up on one aspect of this decision - the bravery of not using an excellent model that you have spent days building. I can imagine that having put all that effort into building the branch viaduct, it must be hard not to have it on the layout. I admire the guts you have shown in overcoming that to do what you knew was right. It must be the right thing because your natural instinct must have been to keep it.
  4. The only bit of your post I don't quite agree with is this Simon. I still think it is double jeopardy because of this - they are "trying" the same event. The court found him not guilty of making a racist remark, the FA found him guilty of the same thing albeit as a breach of their rules rather than law An example of how it would legitimately work is if there was a criminal allegation and a seperate breach of rules. Imagine a staff member was absent from work and caught shoplifting. An employer would never discipline them for gross misconduct for stealing, if a court found them not guilty, but could still discipline for being absent from work.
  5. I acknowledge up front I am open to accusations of bias on this matter, but a couple of thoughts on the FA announcement today on John Terry The FA have shown yet again that they couldn't find their ar$e with both hands They have introduced the idea of double jeopardy whereby they think they can use the differential burdens of proof in civil and criminal matters to "get" a player they clearly decided was guilty prior to his criminal trial (remember they took the England captaincy from him before the court case) They acknowledged that there was extreme provocation, and also said that had he not used the word black with the insults "the ban would have been less." In the interests of justice then, the source of the extremely provocative words to which John Terry was responding - Anton Ferdinand - should be subject of an FA misconduct charge too and looking presumably at a two or three match ban himself. Anyone who thinks Ferdinand was a blameless victim is kidding themselves. Then again, i'm not going to hold my breath looking for the FA to act properly or consistently. Just to reiterate from the posts I made when this was discussed before, I don't condone racist language. I do understand how in the heat of a clearly two-way exchange of insults things can be said that you would never say in a situation where you were free to think clearly.
  6. Do earthquake experts marry for richter or poorer? Do woodland people marry in sickness and in elf? Do people with stuff to sell second hand marry to love honour and Ebay? Do funeral directors marry for better or hearse? Do pancake makers marry for batter or sauce?
  7. aaah, animals on leads that dont belong there. I remember trying to put my cat on a lead once. He was begging to get let out shortly after we moved house so I thought, put him on a lead he can have a mooch in the garden without running off and getting lost. He just twisted and twisted until he reeled the lead short enough so he could bite me! Made him wait the full 2 weeks after that!
  8. Never mind mate, hopefully your dedication will get rewarded with some better results soon
  9. Didn't see MOTD but let me guess - the Axe Murderer and the Hairdresser : Messers Alan "you cant get by with defending like that" Hansen and Mark "I was a good defender, honest" Lawrenson were the summarisers????????
  10. DD don't feel bad, have a look at the e-bay madness thread and see what lesser items go for. Hand made items, as has been said before, are worth what the buyer is prepared to pay.
  11. Yeeeeeessss! Well done - Pride of North London and thank you from us on the posh side
  12. Nah, you would KNOW a real one wasn't worth £410 LOL
  13. When I was a Police crime prevention officer I wasn't allowed to reccommend companies, but I am not serving anymore so I can say this firm are excellent http://www.selectamark.co.uk/product_SelectaDNA.html
  14. LOL!!!! Seriously I know you think we are supposed to be bitter rivals but I actually like Spurs as a club and was pleased to see how well you were doing under big 'arry. Genuinely sorry that you missed out on CL football, but given that Daniel Levy has insisted on hitting the self destruct button it's just as well you aren't in it. Hope things improve soon, so long as you finish below us
  15. Yeah, not you lot obviously ! Interesting stories today about the unrest in the camp being caused by AVB. Perhaps it wasn't the prima donnas at Chelsea after all! Enjoy your game too and keep the red lot off our backs !
  16. Graham Souness thought Chelsea were fantastic today - praise indeed! ) Good luck to those of you about to watch your team in a 3pm kick off - enjoy the games.
  17. They need big Sam, not Allerdyce - Anella. Without a good manager they will have egg on their face. Perhaps a successful lower league manager looking for a feather in his cap. I'm still convinced the good managers won't be flocking to apply. Bound to be a cock up. Will stop now before I end up before the beak for excess corn!
  18. An interesting pointer towards how life at Ewood is going to go. A Sky reporter asked a member of the supporters trust about Tim Sherwood this morning and he was most complimentary about Tim but clearly implied that they want a "big manager." Unless there's a big manager just coming out of a two year coma there isn't one alive that would take the job. I suspect the new man won't be as big a name as the fans want, and because of that he wont get long before all the bile starts coming his way. I think their problems go a lot deeper than the man in the dugout.
  19. Got up this morning with good intentions of doing some chores, but ended up doing a post of the completion of my scratchbuilt Burghclere Signal Box, by then the cricket had started, now lunch followed by Arsenal v Chelsea then who knows, maybe the chores might get done. Ideal time for doing chores is LATER! Have a good weekend everyone
  20. I too got a BR version and it's excellent, but really would it hurt Bachmann to put a small instruction sheet in with what to do with the extra bits????
  21. I think you hit the nail on the head. With global advisor Shabby (sic) Singh bad mouthing people live on TV, no money for players and owners who know as much about football as I do about mass produced chicken, only an idiot would take on the job. Even if Rovers manage to put in place a decent selection process (doubtful!), it would be a massive suprise to me if they get anyone decent at the end of it.
  22. morning all, just geting ready for the 7am bus to work - don't normally log on in the morning but i think i'm ok for time. I enjoy my breadmaker. It's currently a Morphy Richards but I still us the recipe from my first ever breadmaker and they said it's as important to put the ingredients in in the right order (especially if you are using the delayed start function) My recipe (in order!) is 1.3 cups (8oz) of room temp water, tbsp of oil, tsp salt, 3.3 cups of flour, tsp sugar and sachet (equiv of a tsp) of breadmaking yeast. I think fresh yeast is important as is using the stuff designed for breadmakers. The order quoted keeps yeast and salt well apart. I'm on about 90% success rate, lovely wife is on about 98% (she's annoying LOL) but even the dodgy looking ones are edible. Had my toast this morning as usual, spreadable lurpak shared with the cat. He appears from anywhere in house or garden at the sound of the lurpak lid hitting the worktop! Have a good day everyone, i'm off to work sadly.
  23. some of their fans now don't either, it seems! LOL and no, I don't give a monkeys about our league position when we qualified for, or won the CL. Just over the moon we won it
  24. Polar bear goes into a pub. Barman says "what would you like?" Polar bear says "........................................................................................................................ ................................................................................................................................................... ..................................................................................................................................................... ...................................................................................................a whisky please" Barman says "why the long pause?" "they help me stand up on the ice" says the bear.
