  1. If I can find a decent non-public facing role near Peterborough I'd be at it like a rat up a drainpipe
  2. Sometimes you want a fire engine to come through, does anyone know what rights the fire service has towards 'forcing' access? I know they'll bounce a car out the way if needed, but can they damage a vehicle if necessary? Interestingly, the DVLA shows that car as grey?
  3. Bit of devils advocate here, to the right of the Focus, is that a path with a dropped kerb?
  4. Ta, just about got this one as I like it now so theoretically shouldn't need to spend any more other than maintenance. Money is tight lately so getting a new one is really too much of a stretch until my situation improves.
  5. Got a bike shop down the road, might have to take it there. Hopefully not an expensive job.
  6. I need some advice please? Seems my pedal cranky has a wobble, not really sure what to do to fix it? I don't seem to have the socket to remove the pedal, but if it needs replacing I don't know what I'd need to buy?
  7. Another knockback :( Went for the senior role at work, made a presentation with ideas etc and didn't get it. I've been with the company so long, have offered good idea, gone above and beyond trying to improve things for the team. Working my arse off to try and get all this done. I'm one of the most knowledgeable on the team, I know all the wrinkles, I even write up sodding procedures. Probably gone to some bullshitter. I don't do bullshitting at work, I tell it like it is. Can't wait to also have to fix the new 'seniors' problems too. Feel so undervalued its unbelievable. I should have joined the railways when I left school, done something I'd have loved. I need to seriously think about changing jobs. I deserve better. Working in IT has killed my love of tinkering with PC's.
  8. I bought the Bachmann 'C' Class 592 for £75 from Hattons once, maybe 8-10 years ago not long after the C class came out. Same model goes on Ebay for £300 (or so I've seen). I miss the days of the <£100 high detail/main range model.
  9. I wonder how aircon affects covid? I don't have aircon and have been opening windows to keep airflow going. I wonder if the recycled air (assuming that's how your system works) compounds the issue.
  10. The Charlie Line could really be misconstrued into an alternative meaning :D Might attract a few old rock stars though
  11. Welcome to the club! If you get annoyed with the 'fat' railroad tender, you should be able to locate a replacement on Ebay. That's what I did with my railroad 60022 several years back.
  12. I've got the version of COA from a few years ago, Hornby seemed to have made a hash of the nameplate and were selling them off cheap at shows, think mine cost about £75!
  13. Still got bloody covid, won't seem to shift. Absolutely fed up being stuck inside.
  14. Wish I could click my fingers and make it go away for you. Sounds like a proper Mr and Mrs W Anchor you're dealing with. If there's not much recourse for criminal action, is there a route for civil?
  15. Be careful when you go to pick up any nails from B&Q, its really easy to drop them in the road ;)
  16. I think the trio (apart from Hammond I suppose) enjoyed the race to Edinburgh. Clarkson is a bit of a closet gricer from what I hear.
  17. I have R2339, fitted TTS sound into it and it runs a dream. Newer versions of Mallard I've seen have had weird mistakes with fonts etc.
  18. I can recommend some Rammstein to you if that helps? Bit of German metal might put the wind up their arse lol. Why is it those people who play loud music, always play crap.
  19. Guess who's got COVID after 3 years? That's right, me!
  20. Have you considered setting up machine gun nests in the front garden? If so I'd recommend sticking to short, 3 second bursts as those babys can get hot. I live near a primary school and school run traffic is a nightmare. They block up the road, have been regularly blocking my neighbours driveways. The joke with the whole thing is that the furthest part of the catchment area is 10 minutes walk. There seems to be a NEED to drop the kids off at exactly 8:45am. Why can't they walk to the school, drop the kids off 10 mins early, walk home, then drive to work? This would A) Give the kids excercise, B) Save everyone the headache of traffic and C) make the area around the school 1000x safer. Although there was one occasion I managed to troll a school run driver. I have to park on the street, which is first come, first serve. I went outside and got in my car and immediately saw someone draw in behind (on double yellows) waiting for me to leave so they can take my spot. I was in no hurry to leave, I faffed in the car for a minute... then got out and went back in the house for 10 minutes. Was I being a git? Yes Was it funny (to me)? Yes Would I do it again? Yes
  21. Try getting in touch with your local councillor Jim, a different approach might work?
  22. I've learned the hard way that's for sure. Living in Peterborough though, I always get the feeling the flatness seems hotter somehow. No idea if there's any science to that. I was definitely overexposed to the sun that day.
  23. Just recovering after suffering what I think is heatstroke from my cycling on Sunday. I tried to keep hydrated but I simply didn't take enough precautions (no hat, very little shade). Knocked me for six all week and still not back to full boiler pressure. Feel so frail at the moment, hoping to have enough strength to have a pootle about this weekend.
