  1. Same pratt again! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-15108712 I suggest that to save money they roll it down the steepest side, follow in the footsteps of L.A.D.A.S perhaps?
  2. bloody warm here, tempted to lay some OO in the garden temporarily.

  3. I can understand the likes of Facebook being blocked as they are like black holes, people get sucked in. At my old work stuff like tech forums were blocked as well as Ebay. Lastly Hotmail was blocked too, but oddly enough live.com wasn't lol. You'll probably find your work uses a blocking system based on points, if a site contains certain content its given points and if a page exceeds a certain amount it will be blocked. Try again another day, you may find it will then work.
  4. Fantastic, Tornado nameplates arrived! Already look far better than Hornby's printing!

All fixed on now, though I couldn't get the secondary plates lined up too well so they're about 1mm off, but it'll do.

  5. a little disappointed in the printed nameplate on Hornby BR Green Tornado, so fox transfers nameplates will fix that!

I was a little frustrated when i bought the train pack for £135, I thought that it would come with the brass nameplates the special edition did. I also noticed that the secondary plate isn't printed neither so couldn't resist some fresh brass ones.

  6. Anyone else here play Railworks? Given that the next version is out at the end of the week I figured I'd see who else here plays. I'm slowly developing my own route using a combination of the standard assets and the WCML addon, every few nights I put in another section and its thoroughly enjoyable, like a big virtual train set.
  7. You sure a list could be compiled that quickly?
  8. Bwahahahahaha! although http://www.snopes.co...therprotest.asp edit: beat me to it twice!
  9. @10800 You're most probably right. In hindsight we probably should have done like you say.
  10. Indeed, if we did respond, we'd be in the wrong.
  11. heh, I learn't a few years back that when travelling anywhere in the capital to use my size (6'3, 20st) and push, shove and don't give way to anyone. Spent years before that, letting people on first and being reasonably chivalrous. At the end of the day it rarely goes appreciated. Outside of the capital I'll let a lady on first and happily help with luggage if so required.
  12. They were the sort of people I saw boarding and I somehow knew they were going to come over our way. I didn't give you the full story though. When they came up to us and said they reserved the seats, me and my friend looked at each other, somewhat gobsmacked. We initially decided to say nothing and and stay put. They decided to sit next to us (4 seat booth) in the aisle seats to intentionally make us feel awkward. We then vacated and moved to the other end of the carriage. My friend muttered something along the lines of "for **** sake, if you must!". You'll get the picture if I describe them as middle class, probably tory ( ) who think they're better than a couple of heavy metal fans on their way home. Like I said, they knew full well what they were doing was just to irritate us. There is a nice side to train travelling, even if you're not a railfan. I took a day out with my mum to york to see FS on display this summer, we reserved the two window seats in a booth, chap had reserved seats next to us with his family, had a nice chat for a couple of hours. Made the trip fly by.
  13. I always head for the quiet coach with the vain hope I can sit down, headphones in and enjoy some music, radio or an audiobook. My journey is normally ruined by 3 groups of people: 1. Master/Miss Phoneeveryone, as previously discussed the loudmouths who natter constantly on their phones. Whats more bizarre is they seem to have a list of topics that can last for hours. Even when I talke to my closest friends we struggle for any more than 5 minutes on any given subject. They should allow signal blockers at least on the quiet carriage. 2. Mr/Mrs Businessperson, they unpack laptops, paperwork, phones and whatever junk they need and use up the entire table, can't these people wait 30 mins or is what they are doing so important it has to be done in a busy carriage? To add insult to injury I've watched these people, they openly display PRIVATE company documents onscreen and email 'Steve' in accounts about total nonsense. 3. Lord and Lady Wereservedthese. One particularly memorable evening me and a good friend of mine boarded a HST to depart KX at around midnight after attending a gig. We took opposing seats at a random booth in a almost completely empty carriage. An older couple boarded and approached our booth and demanded the seats they reserved dispite being in an empty carriage. In all fairness they had reserved the particular ones and if it were a busy carriage I would have immediately accepted that and vacated the seat. Its the fact that these people had be awkward for no reason. They were very lucky we were too knackered to even bother argueing. sorry, rant over.
  14. What a prat! In the mid 90's I trespassed onto the railway a few times. I was up to no good and was a pretty stupid thing then as it would be now. Like has been previously said, the H+S rules aren't there just to protect idiots like him, but the poor sods who have to slam on the brakes and pick up the 'remains'. Theres the other aspect of selfishness, if said driver has to apply the emergency brake, thats surely gonna piss off a few hundred passengers trying to get where they're going on time. There's plenty of bridges and fields with amazing vantage points. Has anyone ever considered building purpose built vantage points, same as you get at sites of natural beauty etc?
  15. ahh, I thought it had gone by then, I've seen pictures during and not long after construction of the crescent bridge that shows the old crossing. Definitely some good work there, very recognisable even today. Give it a few years and the proposed development, the Peterborough station I've grown to know so well may be gone.
  16. Very nice layout, being a Peterborough lad I've never seen anyone model Peterborough North on such a grand scale. On 1st September 1955 the W1 crashed at Westwood signal box. On page 94 of 'Hush Hush - The Story of LNER 10000' there is a nice picture of 10000 being dragged away by a B17. The W1 is notably missing its front bogie as a result of the accident. Might make a nice model? Unfortunately (and fortunately ) I'm only old enough to remember as far back as Intercity Swallow. Was there anything left of the old level crossing about that time? all that remains of it now is the street leading to it.
  17. The moment I know its a cold caller I hang up, sometimes I go so far as to tell them where to go.
  18. Could certainly be a power solution...
