  2. If you look at and compare the two lower two photographs on p118 and the two on p122 of PP's book, it does seem that the partition was removed. Certainly the entry in the official GER Carriage Register states that it was removed in 1928 along with the other modifications. The partition would have been about the location of the division between the passenger seating and the bar though, so I wonder if that contributed to the studio's ideas for construction of the interior...?
  3. And curiously Simon Castens in his book The Titfield Thunderbolt attributes the scrapping to Crewe (p91)...

Exchanging information with Mr Cambrian & Coopercraft over the weekend, first he has the Cambrian range to maintain in production, to keep up with high demand (good for him and his partner) and the issues with the Coopercraft kits lie as explained above - i.e. a moulding machine that operates at 50% of the working injection pressure than the moulds were designed for such that certain parts are not always fully formed. No mention was made of the moulds being in anything other than a good state, so the comparison with the Kirk moulds as described by Chris Stapleton of Phoenix does not appear to apply - and that is good news. Work continues to overcome the moulding pressure issues, hence the Coopercraft range will not be reintroduced until it is 100% sure that production can be sustained.

If you are referring to the JH Meredith photograph the item on the left is a standard carriage print - it might even be possible to identify which one, most likely a timetable on the right, and another notice above the door which probably gives instructions as to not standing on the platform nor passing between cars. Around the midway point, the 'doughnut' signs on each side in windows are LNER 'no smoking' signs.
  6. According to the publicity there's a feature/article titled The Buntingford Branch explored, but nowhere on World of Trains list of contents or other places is there any mention of it. Is there such an article and what does it include please? If copies are still sold in a sealed wrapper I won't have a chance to check before making a rare purchase (so probably won't).

Yes I do realise that thank you, and that the line didn't end at Titfield and that the 'train shed' was sited over the continuation of the branch to Camerton and that the iron spear-tipped railings were removed by the film crew and the timber fencing substituted and a false end provided to the station building to cover the corrugated iron and the seats, chocolate machine and similar were added by the film crew and the Titfield village settings were filmed in various other locations and so ad infinitum. Thanks to Not Jeremy (Simon Castens) of this parish and his wonderfully informative and excellently produced book. Oh, and Dan's house wasn't in that dell either... and the Bishop and Vicar would never have pushed the Thunderbolt in reverse up a 1:34 gradient to the non-existent water tower either!
  8. For those who have one of the sets and have noted in the Owner's Manual that the 3 exploded diagrams (Thunderbolt, Loriot& Dan's House, Brake Van) are available in the Rapido Technical Centre on the website, well they are not at present but I have just drawn their attention to that omission.

  11. Curious that the W&U Tram Car also appears to be fitted with Mr Valentine's bar... perhaps when transferred east it could have appeared on the Kelvedon and Tollemache Light Railway?

  13. Just received the notification from Rapido that the Titfield and Mallingford Buffet Tram Car has arrived in stock. Rewatched the film last evening with Mrs Pint; all we need now is a 14xx, a GW Cattle Van, and a steamroller to complete the stocklist, plus a GW pattern water tower (preferably without bullet holes)...

Rapido Newsletter 36 just received explains: Last month we showed off some final production samples of probably the most colourful products we’ve ever added to our range, the Not-Quite-Minks, Wisbech and Upwell Train Packs, and Bogie Tram Cars. We are pleased to say that the Not-Quite-Minks and Tram cars are now in a container on their way to the UK, and once they have passed our QC process, we are hoping to have them out to you at some point in the next month or so. Which makes them a rather nice gift as we head into the festive period. So not only will pre-grouping and W & U fans be happy, but Mr. Valentine will be able to enjoy a festive tipple from the comfort of the brand-new Titfield Thunderbolt Buffet car. The remaining W & U Train Packs will also be shipped in due course, but as they aren’t loaded and ready to go at the point this newsletter hits your inbox we can’t make promises on delivery timeframes we may not be able to keep.   16. Just caught the last ten minutes of the repeated showing yesterday (Saturday), having spotted on odd looking title on the EPG. Found it on More4 last evening and added to my list for catch-up. Mrs Pint (aka Mrs Half of Wild Wave), bless her little cotton socks, is quite happy watching trains too but we will miss next week's episode as it's her birthday and we'll be out for a family meal. She was very surprised to see it will feature Izzie Edard 🤭

Their presence or absence depends on the period that you are modelling; from July 1940 the LNER no longer applied the '3' transfers, as a further economy and since it could be assumed that any accommodation not labelled '1' must be third class. Second class had been abolished in the London area from 1938 and coaching stock so designated in the boat trains was either withdrawn from service or reclassified. From 1940 and under the blackout first class was designated by a large figure 1 in the windows, and this practice lasted almost until Nationalisation.

In the first volume Peter Tatlow provides a masterclass in the provision of accurate, clear, and concise information fully describing the organisation, methods, and context by which the LNER delivers the goods. It does more than is suggested by the title and Peter truly does 'deliver the goods'.
  19. I also put the question of reprinting volume 1 (with or without corrections) to Crecy, the response received today being that 'We have no immediate plans to re-print LNER Volume 1. If this ever were to change, we would notify you via either our social media or our newsletter.'

  23. I e-mailed Crecy with a query yesterday and received the following reply at around lunchtime today: 'Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately LNER Passenger Trains Volume 2 has been pushed back until 2024 now and we do not have an exact publication date. This delay is due to the fact that the author is taking longer to complete the book than we anticipated. I understand that the delay is frustrating, it is for us too. 'I apologise that I do not have better news but please do feel free to contact us whenever you need information.' That was probably the trigger for Crecy to update the webpage. It's déjà vu all over again...💩
