There is a whole world of difference between "Unknown because nobody knows who they are" and "Unknown to me because I can't be bothered to find out before posting" It is unfair to present the latter as the former, particularly when they are in fact very well known to a significant number of people.

Once diesel is hot enough it will burn well. In my case the fire was too small to heat the diesel to its flash point, so the diesel did not ignite and smothered the fire instead. In accidents where diesel does ignite, it is because either it has been atomised to a fine spray and/or had a large input of heat. A fuel line breaking and spraying on to a hot exhaust would do it, and is quite a common fire starter.

I manged to unintentionally put out a fire using diesel. One big puff of white smoke and that was it - no more flames, just oily cinders,,,

Modifying the canopy is going to be tricky. It looks like it needs to be taken back significantly in order to avoid ripping off the pan, never mind electrical clearance! The only sensible way I can think of doing it with sufficient consideration is getting new shorter supports cast in the same style, that bolt on to the existing fixings so the look is maintained. The originals would then have to be appropriately stored/preserved. Wonder how much that is going to cost? It may also have the advantage of allowing W12 loading gauge.

I would advise that you think things through a little better before making posts like this. This has only just been announced, what do you expect, Do all the scanning, cad work, research, test moulds and have an engineering prototype ready to photograph in under two weeks? And you are querying whether DJM is legit? A company that has an excellent track record of successfully delivering extremely high quality crowdfunded models already? You make it look like you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I expect that there was a standard axle length of five feet. This may have been more important as this would dictate the overall width of the wagon. Build it any wider and you may have difficulty fitting it down some streets and passageways, i.e. the 'loading' gauge was probably more important. Of course the consequence of a five foot axle is that the 'gauge' between the wheels works out at something near 4' 81/2"...

If a German was to buy my 3 bedroom semi, change the name rent it out does it suddenly become a German house? Of course not, it is still as British as the day it was built. Similarly the company in Derby, which 100% designed, built etc etc, is still as British as the day it was formed, irrespective of owner or name, just as my house with a foreign owner would still be a British house. I sometimes wonder if the people who complain we never make anything anymore deliberately take this stance to support their views, so as to ignore/belittle all the stuff we do in fact design and make in Britain...

Indeed, the original warship diesel hydraulics were A1A-A1A with both driven axles on each bogie coupled via carden shafts rather than rods.
