  1. Sigh....back to square one: reply from a message to Laurie asking if there was any hope for Falcon in 7mm. His response? Two words: "Ha! None!".
  2. I've not seen that, what's it called? I like the one where you point the phone at the radio and it tells you what's playing, who by and off what CD. Shazam.

  4. Yes, it was in the article in the Spring issue of Model rail, about Leamington's diesels. Thanks for that. There is hope for me and Falcon yet, it seems........ Now, where's my e-mail address for Pete Waterman? Dear Pete, please excuse me writing yet AGAIN, but...........
  5. That was a shock: I've never seen this thread before, so I scrolled through it and did a completee double take at the last photo: and A2/2 had morphed into an A2. One thing: it may be the photo, but the valve-gear on Bronzino looks odd. I stared at it for a while before I realized that it's the cylinders. As far as I am aware, loco cylinders slope down towards the rear, so that the piston rod, if extended, would pass through the centre of the centre driving wheel. Yours look to slope the other way?
  6. I wish they'd do "Falcon" in 7mm. The 4mm model sold out it's run, twice. And I've recently read that there will be no more diesels from JLTRT after the latest tranche, so no chance there. :(
  7. Shame about the open days, but I respect your decision and understand your reasons.
  8. Gilbert, have you tried a decent flash gun and which is compatible with TTL photography? And are you ever having any open days?
  9. I shall dig out the wife's one for jewellery and try it on my old Badger (airbrush).
  10. Must have been a loco failure somwhere......
  11. And none of those would fit a 7mm large diesel, even a Warship........
  12. Gilbert, here's a question: are you ever likely to have an "open day" with proceeds to a loco fund or your fave charity? I seem to remember DMNS having open days?
  13. That point looks set wrong to me too....... Yep, the scrapping of Silver Link was a disgrace, Just sad that she was one of the early engines needing a full overhaul AFTER the decision had been made not to do any more. THESE days, she'd have been preserved, but then, well, just another steamer to get rid of........
  14. Thanks Brian. All we can do is keep agitating, maybe they will listen? And hopefully before I reach my dotage......
  15. Yes, they are very nice, as are their slightly big brethren, the Y2400's. Sadly now almost all gone, except inside larger sheds, where they are numbered on the LOCMA* series (* LOco des MAnoeuvres, or shunting loco). Quite a few survivors have made it to industry, and a few into preservation, but you used to see them out on the mainlines or in town yards.
  16. I like the lamps. Reminds me of a Decauville ex SNCF class Y2200 I saw standing outside a grain store in the Beauce part of France.
  17. Regarding etched number plates, paint with enamel white, leave to dry thoroughly. Float on acrylic or thinner enamel black, when still wet, turn and rub off the black from the numbers on cartridge paper. Works for me. Same trick works on nameplates if you have to re-do the colour, Just spray/paint as normal, then buff up the brass etc on VERY fine wet-or-dry.
  18. Did the trick with oil work on the uffers? Or did you have to resort to something else?
  19. VERY nice pics again, Gilbert. I look forward to viewing such Immingham stalwarts as Mayflower, and A.Harold Bibby. Which, incidentally, was my last steam hauled train on the old GCR line from Grimsby to Doncaster.
  20. Another queastion has just occured (sp?) to me, Gilbert: how do you keep the layout clean? Not just the rails, but dust etc off the whole scenery, buildings etc and all the stock?
  21. I have to agree, and even in 7mm scale, they are often grossly out of proportion and poorly made. Even rthe best painters fail to make much of them. It defeats me as to how we can search for such realism in things like lamps, signals, buildings, etc, then let the whole lot down with totally unrealistic figures.. Reminds me of a story I read years ago in the 4th Pan Book of Horror Stories, entitled, "Tha Attic Express", where a guy gets shrunk down to 4mm scale, climbs aboard one of his model locos, and his son sets it off on a nightmare journey. His description of the people populating the layout has stuck with me for years, and it wasn't kind.
  22. Looking forward to seeing it start. But doesn't it break your heart even a little to put all that hard work and results aside?
  23. Loving that black and white photo with the roof. It's just....real. Can I ask Andy Y how he got so good at Photoshop? I have it on my computer here, but just can't get to grips with it..... Ought I to just download some photos and practise? Or do I need to find a course?
  24. Glad to hear your op went well. Don't do anything silly and spoil the recovery, now will you? Mate of mine just had a double hernia op. He took the dog for a long walk the next day and ended up back in......
