  1. Had a jolly nice chat to a fledgling Robin yesterday afternoon. I didn't realise they were born so friendly, I shall have to get some meal worms and see if it will feed from my hand (I know it involves being patient but I can dream).
  2. Thank you sir. Bath / we are rapidly becoming a suburb of London. The new development on the ex-MOD site next door has been marketed in the London Evening Standard. There was an insane (and money wasting scheme) to build a cable car from said site to the the railway station/Widcome but fortunately the developer conducted a consultation (this time!) and decided from feedback that it wasn't going to be at all welcome. Property prices are now so high everywhere that people in service industries etc have had to move out of the city, the net result of which being that employers are having to pay the travelling expenses of their staff if they want to retain or recruit them. We just have to wait a few weeks for the judge to make a decision as he found it to be a very difficult case and needs time to weigh it all up. https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/in-your-area/judge-weigh-up-evidence-against-1580505 Thank you one and all for your kind words.
  3. Currently sat on a deckchair in the garden on cat watch, whilst all the sparrow fledgers have their flying lessons.
  4. Thank you Sir The court closed at lunchtime with the Judge undecided, so we shall have to wait for the verdict... so I guess it's 50/50 at the moment. I shall see if there is any cider left in the area this evening Thanks all Tim
  5. The housing is perfectly ok, it was renovated about 5 years back, both inside and out (new kitchens and bathrooms). These are 'Cornish Houses' made from PRC, the vast majority of which was removed during these renovations, so they are solid homes. The idea to create more housing sounds great but there will be a significant loss of social housing if this goes ahead, approx loss of 250 homes. The replacements will be unaffordable to us, market value of our home (totally unconverted but in need of a little TLC) is c. £170,000 for a two bed detached with large gardens. The cheapest on the new estate next to us is £325,000 for a first floor two bed flat with kitchen diner (above garages that belong to other homes). We don't want to move, we are not adverse to change as we can see where improvements can be made and the many opportunities for 'infilling' on the spare parcels of land all over the estate. We are extremely concerned for the old people who will have their bungalows flattened and not replaced with like for like. The whole exercise is a land grab for massive profit by the developer Curo, who lost their charity status and now call themselves a "Profit for Purpose" developer.
  6. Worth considering but we got the old folks* to consider. *the old man is 80 this Saturday, he's fitter now than I ever have been and probably will be...
  7. From Facebook: "We are pleased to announce our new photographic backscene range, the first one being that of a river valley scene. The three separate sheets will match perfectly together to form a continuous run of 2400mm (95in), and reaching to a height of 333mm (13in). Future backscenes will match at either end allowing longer runs of scenery throughout the full length of a layout. Our long-standing painted backscenes have been a modellers' favourite for years, and they will continue to be available for as long as the demand is there. But we have been listening to feedback from modellers and recognise that there is a need for photographic backscenes, although finding the exact locations to suit these is actually quite challenging! We are lucky enough to be located in a very beautiful part of the country so it was only natural that we would look close to home for our first subject, these images being based on the nearby River Axe".
  8. Not in but above my garden... a Red Kite! We both stood looking up open mouthed. YAY! PS: Was late for work* again as I watched a tree full of Wrens, just fledged by the sounds of things, on me way. *priorities, I always tell me guvnor, priorities
  9. Curo*, the developer, said that they will now refurbish not demolish BUT they will give no legally binding guarantee of this, so we have continued to take the council to court as they too refuse to quash the planning application. *Who cannot be trusted as they have a track record of being lying ######## little toads!
  10. Thank you for asking Sir. All on the back burner as we try to save all our homes from demolition, we've taken the council (B&NES) to the High Court for a Judicial Review of the planning decision (which we feel is illegal), the case started yesterday in Bristol and should be over by lunchtime today... https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/in-your-area/foxhill-judicial-review-bath-curo-1572417 https://www.facebook.com/savefoxhill Begging for a distraction and a guilty verdict! PS: We had a film made about our plight (the star attraction is looking somewhat amused/confused at the end of it). https://vimeo.com/258621206/ee979c8298
  11. I was told that the original was laminated wood sections? Bath Spa Station, bridge over the River Avon
  12. This made me* laugh out loud in Sainsburys. I don't know who decides on product placement but putting the vegan products above the meat was... a stroke of genius? * vegan of 30 odd years
  13. As I said on the Hornybee dread, No bl00dy giraffe car... again! .
  14. No giraffe car again! What's the point... .
  15. I had an allagro too. It had several attempts at trying to kill me but had the last laugh selling it for £50 (purchase price two years before £80) for spares. (Headlamp bulbs were useful I guess).
