Sunday, nearly 10 o'clock and I'm only just on my first coffee; most uncharacteristic......I'm clearly not a true E.R at heart.

Rations will include mouldy potatoes, stale hard tack biscuits and the obligatory weevils. All washed down with bilge water and grog which has been matured in the heads.
The first ship docks at high water this afternoon so I must away to prepare a suitable welcome......

My not so posh school made all pupils do French and Latin at first with the option to switch to French and German in Year 3. I found Latin boring so did Germany’s soon as I could. I can get by in France and Germany using something barely understandable to the natives. I have never been able to do that in Latinland as I have never been there.
Latin America, half a Continent, now lost for words.

My school didn't do Latin. We did woodwork instead. Not that the woodwork really helped me though.
"acta non verba".....Perhaps the unadopted motto of many a very good school.

Crikey, I've only been back for a few posts and I've got people doing maths.
So, remember chaps, it's all, `round to Collie Towers after Evensong on Sunday for double Latin!

I wonder how many Evs will stay longer for a bigger charge than the 3 hours Tesco allows and find their free electricity costs them a £70 parking fee...
I'm guessing these are not fast chargers but normal ones, to keep the cost down to tesco. Equivalent of a 13amp plug . So the max cost to Tesco would be 13p per kwh *3.3 kw*3hours or about £ 1.28 per charge..
No, a fair bit faster than that: none of the standard 'free' Pod-Points flow less than 7kw......`though some will charge at 45kw for a small consideration.

Debs, our local Tesco's is also fited out with the charging points. As my car is petrol I didn't have a good look at them but drivers of none electric cars don't seem to be parking in the bays very often. I was looking at getting a hybrid or an electric car and second hand ones are surprisingly cheap, until you get to the bit that says 'New batteries required.'
The new generation Korean (Hyundai and Kia) Electric and Plug-in hybrid new vehicles have very long warranties on both the car (5yr/7yr) and the battery (8yr), Phil.....that's what convinced me to jump ship and go with an E.V.

I enquired: "To occupy a bay without infringement, one must be plugged-in and on charge".......they'll have to, these bays are right next to the stores front entrance, they'll be full of lazy infernal combusters if it's not Policed in some way.
The disabled bays at that store have to be patrolled for selfish non blue-badge holders in the same way too......some aspects of modern life I fear.

It's not often I cheer for a big corporation, but today - finally - some action on electric vehicle charging by one of the major retail players; Tesco, who promised a major investment in new free-to-use app-based "Pod Point" outlets at many of its stores, now rolling out nationwide......These, at my nearest branch have only taken a matter of days to install and will be commissioned tomorrow. These are totally free to use for the duration of your visit to shop or at the cafe for lunch etc......I don't think you'd get away with asking for free petrol at the forecourt if you haven't got an E.V, though.
Bit worried by the signage, it looks like they think you pick up current through the roof, like a trolley bus.

Domestic tasks done.
Shopping shopped. (Another dozen bottles of red added to the cellar)
Skip and sleepers for the garden have been delivered.
Shed visited.
GDB has c#cked it up (again) and the flap and final boards will have to be rebuilt. Not happy so am now making inroads into a bottle of red plonk.
I think I will give up railway
modellingmuddlingmangling and convert The Shed into a pub!.......dare it be suggested, there be fewer sharp edges and H&S risks in being a licensed victualler, than a DIY'er or Railway Muddler.

When I visited the USS Texas the tour included an inspection of the loos for the sailors . The first few on each side had red seats. According to the guide, for the use of those with venereal diseases.
.......and the toileting destiny of those similarly affected, but with red/green colour blindness?

You have always caringly (and modestly) said to me at my times of need: "We're here".
I know I speak for all our E.R friends, when I say to you; indeed "we" are.
