  1. We used baseboard kits from Grainge and Hodder on our light railway layout they go together very quickly and the only thing you need to get are the uprights for the legs. Marc
  2. The book arrived this morning. Interesting photos. Hoping to start the drawings the week after next. Due to the no commercial nature of the rolling stock I'm not going to produce any of the rolling stock a kits I'm just going to get them printed, if people want one I will put them one our shapeways shop and they can get one printed. Marc
  3. With the natural background of hematite (85%-95% ore) most of Geo-phis techniques wouldn't work. Also the loco fell initially to the 20 fathom level but this would have been "artificial ground" so the loco could be down at a depth of 200 fathom if the artificial ground has collapsed into the stope. Lowfield mine, which is the mine that collapsed, is a bit of an odd ball in the Furness ore field as it the only one that is on a hydrothermal mineral vain and is the only true deep mine . All of the other mines extracted ore from sops, ore bodies that are shaped like giant carrots. Modern mining would have used open cast to get at the ore in most of the ore bodies. Marc
  4. We do a kit for one in 7mm. the drawings we used were the produced using a mixture of photos, the NSR drawings held at York and measuring the NSR BEL which was at York. Marc
  5. one step a head of you there I have a basic design for a printed gearbox with nylon gears. All i need is a motor that gives good proformance ant the need size then we are in busuiness. Marc
  6. Just ordered one will post results Marc
  7. And also with you. Go in pees to serve the force.
  8. The chap at PECO said that the frog could be either live or dead. I think that set track in N and OO are dead frog. Marc
  9. Continuing the CofE protocol Lambeth North Marc
  10. I wasn't but that would make sense the current platform looks lower than the 3ft one and the 15inch locos were at least initially a lot less powerful than the 3ft ones. marc
  11. Looks good. I have often thought about modelling Penmaenpool. It does have a advantage that the site is very accessible and a number of the buildings are still there. Marc
  12. Just been to Eskdale for a bit of a field trip. Got some great shots of the bridge. I can see why they moved the position of the station for the 15inch gauge. The new station is on the crest of the hill whereas the 3ft gauge station was on the gradient. Does anyone have a suggestion for the most appropriate rail profile? Its supposed to be flat bottomed spiked to wooden sleepers. I was planning to use either code 75 or code 100 flat bottomed rail. Marc
  13. I would go for a 3D print as you could make it work if you made it so it could fit standard rail. Marc
  14. If you are going S&DJR then the hamlet or "Happy Bottom" near Corfe Mullen or one just of the Furness' line from Barrow to Askam "Cockin Tunnel" it was a small road tunnel under the railway and the steel works railway and slag bank. Marc
  15. Ok I will do them as kits. First one will be a 4plk open lime wagon. Marc
  16. Not noticed that before but now you point it out. Can't think why I hadn't noticed. brings back memories I had the poster on my wall at uni. Marc
  17. The chap on the stand said that they would be comparable to the current points. So some where between £40-£50 depending on where you get them from. marc
  18. If I remember Connoisseur produced white metal kits, before Jim's ownership, these went to Oldbury, the Home of O gauge and then in to the ABS black hole. I'm working on some dead buffered wagons for my own layout, at the moment, I was going to get them printed but if people want them I will produce them as a kit. Marc
  19. the look like ones from Oldbury, if they are they went in to the ABS pit of kits. Marc
  20. I had a chat with Peco on sunday at the York. They showed me the prototype and said that that the stock is on it way and should be available in mid-May. Marc
  21. Why do I think of Finbarr Saunders. Fanar Fanar Marc
  22. That's great makes life a lot easier as I also have two tram loco tops to paint. Marc
  23. Still working on them. Will post some photos once they are ready for the paint shop. I was told by precision paints that I should use NER crimson lake as GER lake doesn’t have any spec. Anyone have any alternatives? Marc
  24. The lower photo was taken in Barmouth goods yard in 1923. Marc
