  1. I own a full set of Sulzer manuals(classes 24 to 47) issued to drivers in early 60's, I also a similar EE publication for class20's. BR 33056 are the more modern 80's equilvatent, as I trained Cl31,37,45,47,56&60 plus HST's I've still got them . I also still have an early yellow anorak in the car, it's shrunk around the waist! Found my first BR wage slip awhile ago(£35 aprox) not bad in 1978 for spotty 16year old 2nd man.
  2. I've watched that and the other clips several times and it is some the best dubbed sound I've heard, really brings the action to life. He has also taken a lot of time and effort in getting his loco's right . Here is link to the layout http://rrmodelcraftsman.com/boomertrail/cm_extra_cnw.php
  3. Here are 2 from 1980 at Mantle Lane, Coalville. First is 08 623 which was bone by Bachmann ! https://www.flickr.com/photos/28630680@N06/3301519440/in/album-72157614306282272/ Second up is 08 465 pushing scrap MCV's into Marcrofts https://www.flickr.com/photos/28630680@N06/3304867078/in/album-72157614306282272/. And finally a shot of Liecester with 08 617 leaving the depot circa 1978 https://www.flickr.com/photos/28630680@N06/3325822420/in/album-72157614390281420/
  4. A friend has just installed an ESU Loksound in his RS27. WOW is all I can say, it now sounds far more convincing . It really is about the best in terms of Alco sound .
  5. RS32 update, my memory is playing tricks. CNW leased 2 additional loco's around 1979 both came from Chrome Crankshaft and were ex SP. This information came "Chicago & North Western Railway 1975-1995 Photo Archive" published by Iconografix. This link shows 4001 on CNW property but the owner as Crystal Carline http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=10717, 4003 wore red as well, the other leased loco.
  6. Nice to see a layout reappear. I've just read through the old Galatia thread to get upto speed, there is also a Flickr page of photographs as well that I found. One thing I have discovered is the backscene came from Sceniking, who have now ceased business due to health issues, which is a shame as it's a good one. I look forward to seeing a few Alco's appear and will now watch the C Vision CNW Alco Line again. The RS32 fleet were all ex CR and came to CNW via Chrome Crankshaft at least one looks to have run in CR stealth black http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3558090 I also have a book with a couple of pictures of Alco's in previuos owner liveries, I'll check the numbers .
  7. I've decided I need a replacement Alco switcher as my only S series running at the moment is a P2K S1, it runs well but the weathering was done many years ago so know looks not right (well thats my excuse). I was going to get a non sound Atlas but I'm changing my mind now I've your comments regarding your Bachmann S2's. What brand of airpipe have you used, nice angle cock detail their.
  8. The FWD Ford Escort was supposed to be one of Fords first "world cars" so could be a possible if parked so you can't see the front (don't want scare away kids!) US editions of the first varied quite a bit but the final sort of jelly mould version was very close to Euro edtions. Busch have done some and here is a link to the final generation estate, sorry station wagon http://www.galerie.1zu87.com/artikel/1zu87-Ford-Escort-Turnier-weinrot-met-Rietze-20380-11002.html . Any VW will do, also Merecedes Benz sold in big numbers and also lasted well, pickups are almost ageless. Neo are pricey but lots of gas guzzlers, put the Lincoln in the car park with Frank Cannon!
  9. The last steam fireman in the NW still driving trains for a mainline TOC (yes he's 68 this year) started his career at Edgeley, moving to Guide Bridge and then Longsight which is still on paper an XC drivers depot, although everyone is based at Piccadilly for practical reasons. I know this is of no direct help but he is the last connection with the CLC still working in Manchester!
  10. Saturday afternoon Manchester crown court carpark, an immaculate Mercedes Benz 560SEC on Dutch plates, these are starting to fetch serious money.
  11. Not the usual big train http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=395438&nseq=107
  12. Spotted in a carpark in Leamington (the one by the Stagecoach depot) '76 plate Series 2 Jaguar which I'm pretty sure was a coupe, vinyl roof was the give away but I was on a passing train. Then Banbury side of the station was an Austin landcrab, an early 50's Chevy in gorgeous red and white and a covered spare wheel on the rear bumper . Also I've seen a one off MK1 Escort Mexico estate here as well . Admittedly around the south end of the station a several motor related business, one doing serious work on various hot Jap coupes from the 80's and 90's.
  13. Now for the other reason I came on here, This morning as I walked up to Piccadilly railway station I spotted a Delorean, just before 9am turned left from Ducie Street onto London Road it must be regular in the area as I spotted it around the same time last week.
  14. The Rover P5B has made over 80 film appearances, Villain the lead swans around south London (Richard Burton) is one that comes Perhaps the best is a maroon saloon driven by Roger Moore in "The Man Who Haunted Himself" This is a good website(apologies if it's already been posted)http://www.imcdb.org/
  15. Just watched the video, great. Regarding the new sound file in your RS 11, can you give us a few details as it's the best RS11/251b I've heard in a long time.
  16. Talking of smell, I spent many hours at the fueling point at Burton on Trent as young 2nd man. Drifting across the yard most days was the smell of beer, Robirch pies and Marmite, bliss!
  17. Anyone admit to owning a Wartburg! A mid '70's estate lived at the bottom of our road when I was a teenager. You could hear it before you saw it, well just a blue cloud of 2 stroke smoke really!
  18. I have the book and the pictures are the same.
  19. Does anyone know the numbers of of the autocoaches which feature a lot in the new Lightmoor Press book on the Dean Forest book?. 8701 and 6437 are the SLS tour locomotives. Photos dated May 13th 1961 Sixbells archive doesn't list the coach numbers http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/60s/610513sl.html I know from one close up plain maroon 239 was sandwiched between 8701 +W239W+6437+?+?(lined) .
  20. My main issue with the autocoach is I now have to build a layout for it (and the DJM 14XX I'm waiting for!), after years of doing American HO. I have a 11ftx2ft board currently doing fiddle yard duty, won't take to much time to remove the existing track. oh well here we go !
  21. Having returned to UK modelling after years of American HO, what about some alternative short GWR branch line coaches. A44 autotrailer for the 14xx would be nice or D117.
  22. I now a have lined maroon version and would like to add a second vehicle, what might have been used apart from another autocoach, D117 or could a the A44 work with the Hawksworth autocoach?
  23. I remember an ex colleague buying an Z Coupe his party piece was to lift the backup and walk it round in a circle!
  24. I like the idea of a Trackmobile but this is just a bit to modern for me, how does it perform ?
