  1. The brain works in mysterious ways, I'd just read a headline about a bob sleigh team having a drugs doping ban lifted then read your reference to IPA before scrolling down the thread to see the picture. "Rmweb in drugs doping scandle" aah well enjoy!
  2. HS2 booking hall and platforms will go adjacent to platform 1, the old NHS building on the station approach is in the final stages of redevelopement to a hotel. The north tower block which is currently home to Northern and Virgin crews is schedualed for demolition, opening up the accees to a new concourse and pltforms for HS2.
  3. As an aside I can add that some Newton Heath drivers were trained on class 50's for the Manchester/Glasgow services. One of the Bradford Barton albums has a picture of a 50 passing Deal street, Manchester Victoria. One of the reasons for the non developement of Mayfield is (I suspect)the plan to quadruple the track layout from there towards Oxford road station.
  4. The whole shared asset area throws up some interesting workings, top & tail short trains, shoving moves with decrepit old C&O/B&O cabooses and try searching "Gresseheimer glass" on Youtube for an end of the line industry. Also plenty of CSX, CR & NS Athearn locos still in the US shops, a patched ex CR GP15 would be top of my list. Nothing worse than having an idea for a layout only to find the locs you want have all been done and sold out!
  5. Well the R&W has to exchange with someone, so here is a small selection of from the class1 department. Not yet posted are SD45-2, SD50 SD60 and a GP40-2 from CSX and a pair of Conrail loco's, GP15-1 and a GP38-2. The UP GP15-1 has no real place on the R&W, I just like GP15's!
  6. Here is GMRC 405, a few added details and a very light weathering. Doesn't get out much now but I have a trio of Rivarossi carriages to make up a passable Green Mountain train.
  7. Plenty of early years A&M action here,http://www.trainvideodepot.com/DVD-Arkansas-&-Missouri-Railroad_AM-1 as the dvd starts just a year after the railroad came into exsistance.
  8. See more of the A&M here http://condrenrails.com/A&M/A&M.htm and here http://condrenrails.com/A&M/Slides/A&M-Future-Units.html
  9. Atlas Lehigh & Hudson River #23 from their latest run, seems to have sold out very quickly I've waited nearly 18 months for mine. Number 23 went CR as 2073 which is what my version is based on, in reality the loco went to Alco friendly A&M where it still is as their 52.http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=107008
  10. Back in the 80's when Glazebrook was still a busy place, I did a few trips in with 100ton tanks, usual loading was 10 with a couple of cl37's. Even then there was look of abandonment about the place, almost no infrastructure other than the ground level discharge pipes running the length of the siding with valves to short lenghts of about 9inch diameter flexible pipe for connection to the tank wagons. Absoluetly no shunters/staff cabin, but there was a chippy near by!
  11. Two new C420's join the R&W fleet, bringing the total C420 count to 9(note to Atlas, Family Lines livery pleeeeease!). First up is pride of the fleet high hood #200 And now at the opposite end of the pristine spectrum
  12. Don't forget there is one big TOC, XC Trains with no geographical base to call it's own. I wonder how this reform will pan out for XC, personally I can seee it being slit up.
  13. I've deleted my previous post as the image keeps going upside down, regardless of which way I post it!!
  14. A simple immediate solution would be a "Stop and Proceed" instruction before or in the tunnel which is propery policed. Not 100% fool proof, but it is at least something which can be implemented straight away with very minimal cost.
  15. I had not realised the group had been that long, and in all fairness those are my words not his. Mind you I wouldn't have have my understanding of DCC today without his help and the rest of MERG.
  16. I've only ever had a MERG system (big)but it helps living in the same small town as one of the founder members. As I regularly operate his US layout and do a occassionl weathering projects for him we trade skills. I dare say I could build their kits myself but I would seriously need to push my technical skills, soldering etc. My choice for an of the shelf system would be ESU as this is my sound decoder of choice, but the cost!!!!!! My entire system cost less than a Lokprogrammer.
  17. Nyree Dawn Porter, I just need to go and .............. lie down.
  18. The convertible 4 door SM was used by several french presidents, it was referred to as the "SM Presidentielle" there must have been at least 2 because pictures exist of cars with consecutive registration plates, 2 PR 75 and 3 PR 75 . A Chapron stretched DS carried 1 DS 75. http://boitierrouge.com/2014/05/21/la-3eme-sm-presidentielle-date-de-2005/
  19. As I own examples of all of these here is my twopenath. Atlas for the RS3 cheap as chips 2nd hand, one of the first locos Atlas upgraded so all blackbox models will have 8pin sockets for DCC. Nothing wrong with the early yellow box models for reliabilty just moulded on grab rails and no DCC socket. The Atlas black box GP7/9 is another good runner, weighs about 100cwt as it has a very heavy chassis, been around awhile so good 2nd hand choice. Bachmann GP7/9 and their RS3 and S2/S4 are good but lack any grab rail detail, sound equiped locos are Tsunami decoders with a few CV's disabled. Athearn for the SW1500/1000, plenty of 2nd hand choice even the old bluebox offering was good and the current RTR rates very highly(one of the best in my opinion). Bowser Stewart do a detail up grade for the bluebox model. I have 3 GP15's from Athearn Genesis and all had issues of wiring quality from the factory, loose broken wire from the bogie is common, it's an expensive model but detail is superior to the Walthers model. Walthers/Proto switchers are all good but pricey new. Everyone of these models would be seen in switching duty either from the class1 RR's, shortlines or as lease locos.
  20. Please tell me more about the Grandtline 25 tonner, did you build as per the instruction. I have a kit to build but I'm not happy or sure about the drive/motor. I would also like to have out side coupling rods as per the 45tonner.
  21. Mock up of services for the new Keninworth service?
  22. Nice to see the C424 with the air filter mods.
  23. 3612 Now runs on the York Durham RR two more ex CV RS11 still exist, 3600/04 are with the GVT as 1800 and 1804 lettered for one of GVT's other roads. 3605 went to the Winchester and Western but as to it's current status? 3608 had a low nose, finally 3609 was written off and then the number used again for an ex NW RS11. 3614 was issued to a GP18 and then an RS11. So for such a small class of MLW built RS11's they've carried several interesting liveries under the CN/CV/DWP flag and covered alot of the midwest and 3 are still running at 60 years old!
