I would, as far as I know only Locos on exceptional duties had their buffers bulled up or painted white, the usual was a good dollop of grease.
These days I blacken buffers. This was posted about 10 years ago. I'm updating my blog, but as soon as you edit anything it seems to repost it.

Hi N15, I've allway's enjoyed your blogs, so I hope that you do decide to return to blogging.
Thanks
I have come back to the feeling the blog, is the best way of showing kit and scratch building. It I think give a logical layout, keeping comments with the part that they apply to.

I went on your profile, clicked 'See Their Activity' then selected 'Topics'
Excellent. Talk about hiding things away. Many thanks.

Is it not in Activity>Content Streams>Content I Started?
No that's stuff is less than a year old.

Thanks guys. I now know how to find the blog easier to find. I still have numerous threads I can't find, not that it matters too much I'm running down my posting. I just find it hard to believe that they've made it so awkward to find your own stuff.

I think the tower looks out of place, I would be tempted with either a crane at the end of the platform or possibly one of those balloon tanks.
Well that's my two penn'orth worth anyway.

Merry Christmas to you too.
Love the photos and the layout is quite inspirational.
-
Lovely, who did your painting?
-
What's the livery going to be?

Its about time there was a good kit for the BWT in 7mm Shame this is going to be printed.

Hi yes although i do find modelling very satisfying,I think it is more I like making things whether as in my working life clocks and houses, I know a strange combination of careers. Or at home with the hobbies, cooking etc. To me it's the pleasure making something to the best of my ability. To know that there will be things in this world that I have help to make or have made that will be here long after I've been forgotten.

The trees are brilliant and certainly help to bring the layout alive.
The only problem I could see with the wine glass was the lack of wine in it.
-
I built one of the short tank but with a very similar if not the same cab. From what I remember the wheel base was the same either side of the centre wheel. Or only inches in it.
-
I built a 7mm one of these a short tank version but with the large cab and very small bunker.
-
Looks very good but I thought barbed wire was on smaller rolls with an X frame each end.
-
Did you set up the wheel bearings using the coupling rods. It is important to do so as you can't rely on the etching being correct. I assume you have built locos before and understand the difficulties of the 4-4-0 Nd 0-4-4's
What you have done looks very neat and tidy.

Looks good so far.
I built 735 with pull push gear in 7mm it's in my blog might be of interest to you.
-
Thanks Marc. Still not sure how well they will show up under paint. I will have get one of your kits soon and have a look.
-
So why do you use a third party to put pictures on here. Load them directly. Then you have full control.. These host are not a reliable way of storing or posting pictures etc. I know when you use ones like the cloud, apples one etc they track movements usage etc.

Are the printings smooth or are there still print lines in them?
I for one would rather clean off flash and solder parts together, than try and remove print lines and glue. I don't mind using plastics things like brake shoes it's brilliant.
-
I love the models. The layout is coming along nicely. Your sound was good. Is it a loco specific one?
-
Absolutely fantastic as usual Dave. Gives me things to think about for my layout.
-
Absolutely fantastic. Inspiration for us all.

Looks wonderful. The colours look just right in the photos. When mine turn comes I have houses to include.

What a lovely and unusual tram loco. Very well made, and obviously put together with thought.
