  1. "Aston Le Walls international airport" With no airport station of course. J
  2. There at last: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-67663284 Jonathan
  3. And I have a jar of coal from Ocean Taff Merthyr Colliery for my GWR/RR layout wagons. J
  4. Absolute chaos this morning on Avanti services from Euston. My sister in law is therefore two hours late getting to Newtown. What was odd was that the train she was on disappeared from the National Rail Enquiries train reporting system before it even reached Coventry. Jonathan
  5. That is interesting as the National Travel website was saying it is a signal failure near Warrington Bank Quay which is causing the WCML delays. Jonathan
  6. "reinvest every single penny" saved from cancelling the remainder of the rail project." (ie HS2) But no money has been saved, merely less borrowed. So don't hold your breath. Jonathan
  7. I wasn't expecting you to list kits/ What about the tender behind Hornby's Lord of the Isles? I must admit that it looks rather more modern than the loco. Jonathan
  8. No additions to RTR but there have been quite a few kits of other tenders. Jonathan
  9. It would never have happened with semaphore signalling . . . Hat, coat . . . . J
  10. Interesting to see Liverpool Riverside. I knew ity existed but this is the first photo IO have ever seen of it. Jonathan
  11. And I love the one with the rainbow and the beautifully lit signalbox. Jonathan
  12. The Ince Wagons book has three 1906 RCH drawings (all wood, wood with steel underframe, all steel), all showing the two small plates referred to above, but none of them have any reference to inside diagonals. The 1923 drawing has no such plates. Interestingly neither does the 1887 drawing. But the 1903 drawing of an 18 ft wagon does have the plates – the design which never became very popular. Jonathan
  13. Thanks. I need to start saving - and build the I class 0-6-0T kit I already have from years ago. Jonathan
  14. The HMRS has now got a new printer after a couple of years of looking. Stocks are being replenished but there are a lot which need reprinting and it doesn't look as though what was originally PC Sheet 17 is available again yet. (I still have that sheet but not much MR lettering left on it, plenty of M&C.) A suggestion which was made to me for black PO wagons but which might form for grey company ones is to paint the vehicle side white and then use transparent decal film to print the grey parts so the white lettering shows through. I have used decal film for black BCR lettering but have not yet tried it for "white under black" - because I can't find the film anywhere in my modelling room. Has anyone tried this idea? Jonathan
  15. Now for paints I look to war gaming shops. Kits I tend to buy at shows. Though at Cardiff I managed to avoid being tempted. Most unusual. Though to avoid temptation model a company the kit manufacturers haven't discovered. For example there are just two kits for Rhymney wagons that I know of, no passenger stock and I don't think any locos currently. Jonathan
  16. I notice that two of the 1970 trains contained full brakes but they seem to have disappeared b y 1977. but things like Red Star Parcels were still using rail then. Is it just a coincidence because of the small sample of trains? Jonathan
  17. And is there now any demand for either offices or retail space in central London? Or perhaps it should be a "cafe complex" with a few nail bars, barbers and tattoo parlours thrown in - about the only things one can't do on-line. Oh, I forgot the charity shops. A bit tongue in cheek but that is how town and city centres are going. Jonathan
