New Container Kit from Osborn's Models (2mm & 4mm. scales)
MAURICE040947 replied to cctransuk's topic in Smaller Suppliers
thanks for your comments John. It was Noel Lever's idea to do the 2mm version (that is 3D printed) and indeed yours to make the 4mm Version vailable as a kit. I have been told that the BM had not been done before much to my surprise. -
so at the risk of opening a whle new can of worms what will be the next big development, (following on from DCC on board sound). I have been into model railways for 68 years and have seen steady progress and a few dynamic leaps in that time. So what is the next big thing prediction? Proper sound to include the following train and not just the loco would be good but would it drive neighbouring operators at exhibitions mad listening to it all day.

Paddy wrote Creating an N gauge range would be a big investment and there is already significant competition in that market. Hornby's finances would need to improve to justify such a risk. It has not stopped them investing in the Arnold brand where there is also a lot of competition see https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/brands/arnold-n-1-160/page/15.html? and scroll seemingly endlessly and note all the items marked new tooling. Granted in Europe there is a bigger market for N but some new models are very country specific. Interestingly they are mixing scales so called 1/148 scale Oxford Diecast vehicles as loads onto 1/160 scale wagons. Interesting times!

The Stationmaster asked where British Model Railway Manufacturing was heading. I personally would hope, like Grahame, for more inroads and support for N Gauge and in the case of Hornby it is the 'last frontier' (if you discount Hornby Minitrix and Arnold). However in all my conversations with SK over many years, I have to conceed that it is unlikely to happen, but never say never.

Mick Bonwick wrote I think that we should have access to a "Groan" button to augment the recently provided "Round of applause" one. What say you? I agree but think a yawn is easier ti illustrate. regards from sunny Devon

15 minutes ago, Phil Parker said: if there is such a gap in the, how come someone isn't filling it? Someone is. As I have said before, Marklin is the name and the range is called My World. It is aimed at the child market and is integrated with Lego systems for maximum play value. It is not aimed at us older cynics. It is what I would call affordable and both my 6y.o. grandsons love it. I hope it generates a lifelong interest in the hobby.

Have a look at the Marklin My World range . Both my Grandsons think it is great https://www.maerklin.de/en/products/my-world/ Remote control with sounds and lights. What more could the little ones ask for and now that Lego has come off patent all sorts of Marklin/Lego integrated parts for even more play value. Maurice
