  1. I think you want some straight lengths in your test track, so you can see how the loco behaves on the transition from straights to curves.
  2. I'm wondering what the haulage capacity of these locos is. I've just obtained a Dapol GWR mogul, and that won't pull 8 bow-ended non-gangwayed coaches up my 1 in 75 helix (but it will pull 4 of them). I'm wondering if the 94xx will pull all 8 of them up the said incline.
  3. Unfortunately, you cannot replicate the blinds that were used on the 4CEP, 4EPB and classes 33 and 73 with LEDs.
  4. Pardon me for being obtuse, but I thought GWR fixed distants didn't have the spectacle plate.
  5. I was sitting drinking coffee in my slippers this morning, when I thought to myself... I really need to wash some mugs.
  6. Do you blame him? Surely it's cheaper to copy things and make suitable amendments than it is to design something completely new? Wouldn't mind a 15xx.
  7. Are you absolutely certain the track is flat? Maybe all the drivers on one side are being raised just enough off the rail by the pony trucks being too "stiff" to cause the loco to stall. When it stops, what happens if you push the loco to one side, to make the drivers contact the rail? If nothing happens pushing it one way, try the other. What happens if you loosen the screws fixing the pony trucks by half a turn?
  8. Part of this is what I was trying to post yesterday when it all went wrong:
  9. Sorry. I tried to post a video here, and it won't accept it because it is file tye mp4. I know that's not funny, but the video is. Never mind.
  10. Not so much a joke, but never mind. A Covid Lockdown Poem I won't arise and go now, and go to Innisfree I'll sanitise the doorknob and make a cup of tea. I won't go down to the sea again; I won't go out at all, I'll wander lonely as a cloud from the kitchen to the hall. There's a green-eyed yellow monster to the north of Kathmandu But I shan't be seeing him just yet and nor, I think, will you. When the dawn comes up like thunder on the road to Mandalay I'll make my bit of supper and I'll eat it off a tray. I shall not speed my bonny boat across the sea to Skye, Or take the rolling English road from Birmingham to Rye. About the woodland, just right now, I am not free to go To see the Keep Out posters or the cherry hung with snow. And no, I won't be travelling much, within the realms of gold, Or get me to Milford Haven. All that's been put on hold. Give me your hands, I shan't request, albeit we are friends Nor come withn a mile of you, until this virus ends. Anon.
  11. I remember looking out of my lecture rooms at UMIST at the line between Oxford Road and Piccadilly around 1970, and thinking that the intensive train service, with both tracks signalled bidirectionally would make an interesting layout. But then I went back south for the vacations and saw sense.
  12. Can you change the screen resolution so strikethrough is available, do your strikethrough, then change your resolution back to how you want it? You may need a magnifying glass for one of these steps, of course, but better that than not having strikethrough at all.
  13. Are you sure that's not one of those steampunk creations? It looks awful.
  14. If you are going to lower the road under low bridges how are you going to stop the road flooding when it rains? Even a couple of inches of water is dangerous as it hides what's under the surface.
  15. The answer to that one is simple. Stop the clock, wait for an hour, then restart it.
  16. This video suggests that the bridge is to be reconstructed by 2018. Is there an after-2018 picture/video of the bridge?
  17. Wasn't '59 the year the DMUs started work in the Cardiff Valleys? The 64xx that ran the autotrains before then would have become spare, so they would have had one or two to send to Tondu.
  18. Even I knew that, thanks to reading Arthur Ransome when I was little.
