  1. I'd really appreciate advice on cleaning the rods on my 30071, don't want to do anything that makes it worse!
  2. Hi everyone, MR-105 and 106 arrived yesterday. Great little locos. Only comment I would have is I don't much like the splodges of black paint on the coupling rods of 30071, guess its supposed to be part of the weathering. Will they clean off ok? Cheers Mike
  3. OK, well my Morley problem has been mostly fixed. The issue was caused by the pots in the hand held units! Voltage would spike and dip as the pot was advanced causing bad running. The fix could not be more simple. Carefully pull the knob off and under you will find a nut that holds the pot in place, undo this nut a full turn or more (but not so its lose) Then refit the knob. The issues is caused by changes in temperature, meaning the nut is overtight which causes the wiper on the pot to lose contact with the track. There you go, one of the hazards of having tight nuts!
  4. Hello, been using a Morely Vector for some time and really like it. However I have never been overly happy with the fine control on it. The pots (control knobs) seem advance in quite crude steps rather than a smooth controlled linear way. I am sure it's just a simple resistor change on the PCB, and I understand I'd lose top speed which would be no issue, but I thought I just ask if anyone had made this modification before I have to go and trace out the whole circuit?
  5. Can someone please help me with dates and liveries? http://www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/pg/137/Project-USA-Tank I'd like a WW2 condition one but am taken with the Southerns one. Thanks
  6. So would the 'Southern' livery be the WW2 time one?
  7. Oh come come, have you seen my dad's kit built loco? granted he refined a lot but she stands up against Hornby's one no trouble at all!
  8. Think we are at a time where a date would be good to know.
  9. When you fitted the brake rigging, did you cut a little bit off the peg that goes up to the radial truck? I did and all has been well, no clunks at all, just an idea
  10. Are you guys referring to a R2R version of the coaches shown in this video? Dad made them by converting Triang Clearstory coaches and then painting them and adding detail. Not sure how available these are now?
  11. Any update on availability please, we are going away soon and I want to make sure it is not left kicking around in the post? Thanks
  12. I'd say not, was a significant difference
  13. Hi, interesting, I have no reasons for not wanting the Hornby model to be right, but on the visit to 488 we did measure the wheels and the radial truck ones appeared bigger! how very odd???????
  14. Hi John, locos built from 1885 had the bigger wheels, I measured them at the Bluebell on my visit to confirm this.
  15. Hi Alan They are too small, there is an explination from 4:15 in this video Were 3foot 6 on the real thing, not the same as the bogie ones
  16. Interesting! looks like the Hornby one is the most accurate apart from the wheels on the radial truck.
  17. Hi everyone Really delighted that Trasacord granted me permission to use one of their sound tracks to make this video. So this time you can hear a really good quality version of a Adams Radial in action. Hope you enjoy
  18. First off many congratulations on your 1000th post Thanks for the kind comments, I try hard lol
  19. Very many thanks, yes he did a great job and I have noticed the Hornby one lifting its wheels, not sure why yet.
  20. Thanks mate, I learned a great deal when I made my Southern Electric video, so put it into practice with this one using blue screen this time. Still very many hours of work but I have been delighted with the finished product. Lovely locos and very special to me
  21. Good evening everyone, well its been some time in the planning but here is my guide to the Adams Radial tank locomotive featuring the Hornby model of 488, my dad's kit built loco from the 80s and the real thing. It's been fascinating putting this together so I really hope you will enjoy the end result
