Weight dependent. The Johnster can’t fly within 50/150m of your property with his drone, I can with mine as it’s less than 249g.

You can complain all you like, it would be legal for me to hover my drone over your property if I were bloody minded enough to do so.

Not if it has a camera

Oh no it's the first batch Dapol Class 68 swoosh/line gate all over again! 🤣

The Class 88s are looking very good. Upon looking at the samples there is a couple things i noticed @Adam1701D:

    DRS Examples

    • Numbers on the cab side seem a little high. Painted sample the Number is above line on Real version it is below line with the last digit touching it.
    • The Tails on the flying out bit of the Compass on the 4 Grill Side seems short compared to the real thing.
    • The Lines on the Cabs seem a little high Comparing the photos i took of 88003 in 2019 and the model i.e: Line goes thought Cab step and Cab 2 end the Line just misses the corner whereas the model is above also on the 4 Grill Side.

    • The 3 Grill Side the Lines are the other way Round compared to the model. Photo i took of Juno 88006 at the SVR Diesel Gala.

    Thanks,

    Samuel.

that's a shame, at best it means this livery may be delayed while the error is corrected, worse case scenario is the first batch will have errors, very worse case scenario is the entire production is halted while this error is corrected and Dapol miss the production slot

"How will they spin that one" - isn't it good news?

    Confused from the West Country.

I'm building my own miniature HS2 in the garden, my problem isn't funding as much as next door's cat pooing where it oughtn't to, ghastly creature.....

My (one) "green tunnel" is complete at least, but I'm a bit hazy about terminal arrangements and I can't afford to buy next door(!)

Pepper powder discourages cats. Also consider putting a little fresh soil in a corner of the garden - it will poo there (instead of on your tracks)

I don't think anyone is thinking this.

What would be the point for Bachmann, they'd be better of doing an 81 next if they were going to do another electric.

It would be similar to asking Heljan to do one and then an 86/1 as well using the chassis.

The boat for an 87 has sailed for a decade.

They could do both of course. But as you surely know the 87 has a wider range of liveries than an 81 and that's what makes a tooling profitable.

The fact we haven't seen an 81 so far perhaps confirms it

Mind you I wouldn't say no to a couple of 81s

  5. Design centred around customer experience as opposed to profit.

    Removable roof for decoder fitting.

    Built in speakers

Working pantographs.....well do you mean working as the plastic actually doesn't fall apart when you touch it (like on the APT?) I had to replace mine with Bachmann Class 85 pantographs

Clever design makes customers smile and willing to suffer a bit more pain in their wallets.

Also good quality models, you have the confidence of a good resale value when you let them go. This benefits Hornby as you come back for more good models with money from your resale.

However I am sure Hornby know their niche and design and market accordingly.

I am sure there was a comment on the Hornby forum that the sound decoders in the International models were ESU not TXS but the 2024 international range launch did ref to TXS fitted locos. A question for Hornby tech to confirm-deny. SD500 is the only one listed so far (for Rivarossi E656 FS). It is presumed the Hornby sound  Tech Team schedule will be driven by the International Teams demands - if and when issued.

Brilliant news - the E656 is the loco I want to chip!

This is a good step by Hornby and hopefully more will follow

  7. Hi Jim

making sure the two surfaces are lined up and held in place and in line, I sprinkle with very fine talcum powder into the the joint, use a fine brush to get it into the gaps.

Super glue on a cocktail stick - touch onto the talcum powder along the bottom edge of the coach, not the front it gets pulled in by capillary action, it does require a fine hand.

Produces a very tough composite when hardened, which can be sanded down and primed.

On the internal side prepare some superglue mixed with talcum powder - it makes a paste which sets fast but you can build a thick, tough layer across the internal seam. Again this is really tough - you may need a Dremel to sand it down

Obviously try elsewhere first before trying on Mentor

  8. Thanks I already know about the UK locomotive profiles and enjoying the use of them but

I am after sound profiles for continental models and

I am assuming there should be some somewhere as Hornby are selling TXS sound decoders on their Rivarossi and Jouef websites (with advertising in the native language).

  9. Bachmann must have talked with GBRF and can see a good profit margin in multiple liveries, plus if they don't do the 69...who will?.....

Makes you wonder if a 56 is on the cards? As I understand the conversion program below the solebar remains quite similar?

....you may as well ask the question....will Hornby upgrade their super detail 56 with a 69 body shell?

I would have thought that could be more likely - undercut Bachmann and make use of their 56 chassis tooling they had already developed...?

IIRC the tooling for these is an actually owned by Drax (as they paid for it) and not Hornby (whose involvement was just to produce the design and then deliver the models).

If so, Hornby themselves cannot simply undertake a further release off their own initiative - they need express permission from Drax to do so. Moreover I’m anlso pretty sure that Drax themselves would want a cut of the profits from the sales of each wagon too!

That in turn pushes the RRP even higher and it could be that the price the wagons would have to be sold at is so expensive Hornby believe they won’t sell.

Seems crazy Drax would miss an opportunity of cheap advertising saving 10s of thousands of £££...for the sake of making a few quid from the sale of the wagons?
