Dad only had two Hymeks in his albums - this is one that illustrates, what appears from the above, to be a typical trainload.

He is acting as lookout for the man actually on the ladder. Mind you H&S wasn't as strictly observed at that end of BTM in the past. I am sorry that the 'Art Director' has gone a bit mad with the airbrush and the steam and smoke effects in this snap from Dad's albums. It does show you can run locos from other regions on a very Western layout.

One from 1991 at Oxford - http://www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/26435973/in/album/871204 - boring pale grey. One the other hand, nearby in 1990 - http://www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/26436881/in/album/871204 - could be a pale blue - unless Dad's colour print was a bit off colour. -

If it went on to Manchester they might not bother to stop at Birmingham, like Ashford and Ebbsfleet on the other unconnected branch of HS1/2.

A typical S&DJR train, c. 1902?
phil_sutters replied to Compound2632's topic in Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway Group
Quote 'I was fortunate to obtain the Highbridge Works blueprint through the kind offices of my fellow-LMS members and a photo from the Loco and General collection (No.3573).' The MRC special has about thirty passenger stock drawings listed mainly in Model Railways, with a handful in MRC, some of which appear to be duplicates. I have photocopies of a few of them. -

The drawing, by T.W.Bourne, based on the Highbridge Works blueprint and the Loco and General collection photo no3575, is of 1A. October 1973 is fairly late in my early S&DJR modelling era, after which I switched to painting historical wargames figures, but it must have been this drawing that I used for my model. As well as the photo quoted Mr. Bourne refers to the loan, by Harold Tumilty, 'of some train shots which showed these vehicles a fair distance from their native heath'. -

Last Monday, as I had a day when my other half was helping a friend clear out the caravan she no longer uses, and as TfL may be scrapping Travelcards, I thought that I would head back to London and snap some railway locations, some of which I have travelled through, without photographing anything much, and other bits I don't remember even visiting before. This is the first time that I have been on Clapham Junction's platforms without urgently needing to hop on the next train. This is of course prime emu spotting country. Please note there is an obligatory view with not just one but two buses on a bridge - but that must be one bridge where there is a very high likelihood of buses and trains converging on it at the same time. -
SDJR as delivered livery and marking details
phil_sutters replied to Ian M.'s topic in Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway Group
Prussian Blue, on most B&W photos that I have seen, shows up as a distinctly lighter tone, than ones showing locos newly painted in black. As black becomes grubbier the difference is a bit less. -

Prototype for everything corner.

Not everything has to be era-appropriate. Where did this bench come from? This beautiful canopy must be a difficult bit of the building to maintain, given the very high frequency of trains passing thorough. -
A typical S&DJR train, c. 1902?
phil_sutters replied to Compound2632's topic in Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway Group
There is a listing of S&DJR passenger stock drawings from Model Railways and Model Railway Constructor, from the late '70s and early '80s, in a Model Railway Constructor Special No7. Model Drawings Reference Book, by Clive S. Carter published in 1985. There are loco and goods drawings listed as well. There are some from other magazines as well and from earlier dates. As I typed this I got the feeling that I have mentioned this somewhere before, so forgive me if this is old news. I don't know what the quality of the drawings listed is or whether there are accompanying photos. I have the October 1973 edition of Model Railways on order from an on-line back numbers seller. This has a drawing of an S&DJR 4-wheeled milk van, so I shall see what that brings forth. -
He and his supporting organisations have raised multiple millions selling everything from MAGA baseball caps to non-fungible tokens NFT*s, with him appearing in a variety of super-hero type outfits and poses, often claiming the money is to pay for his re-election campaign, whereas he is siphoning off a large proportion to fund his legal fees incurred in his multiple legal cases, including his four criminal court cases and the NY State civil, business case, that has just resulted in his and his companies' certificates to conduct business in NY State being revoked.. *Too complicated to explain here - search online for enlightenment.

He's got a new job. He is a surgeon fitting gastric bands. I think I could have done that. I used to reconnect the rubber bands inside my little sisters' plastic dolls, when they got dislodged and an arm or leg or even the head fell off.
