  1. If you make the helix bigger, you could put the guest room inside.
  2. If Kernow follows the D6xx rerun scheme, they will just announce the models are in stock, and available for immediate order. You know that is going to happen right after you pay a premium for one on an auction site...
  3. Thanks, I missed that set of posts in my initial search. I have to agree with one of the posts, these shelters would be interesting to model, interchange with lorries instead of canal boats...
  4. The name "Landsale" yard might suggest this is where they sold the coal to local merchants, there is a lorry parked next to one of the wagons. Sold by weight, you wouldn't want to buy wet coal. Even if the attempt was forlorn, it might have been a sales pitch of sorts from the NCB? One of the videos I watched showed 1426 switching out the empties for loaded wagons. I'd have thought internal wagons would be used for internal movements, but they were BR wagons. Maybe by 1978, BR wasn't as concerned about how fast the NCB returned their wagons...
  5. I've taken an interest in Brynlliw, after purchasing a Hornby Peckett. I don't recognize the purpose of the cantilevered roof structures in the photo behind 1426. Brynlliw Colliery landsale yard, any ideas?
  6. Indeed, I am still holding out for 10203 in green, with half height yellow panels...
  7. Those spotters are going to have to talk their way past the shed master, if they want to get in to see that Western...
  8. I'm doing one as we speak. Cut the headcode blocks down about 1mm on each edge. You can then press them into the window, against the glass on the inside. The paper deforms if they are a slight interference fit. A cocktail stick works wonders to work then in, then a spot of PVA secures them. I use fine scissors to cut them but you can also a ruler and knife... https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/techniques/detailing-the-Dapol-western/

  10. The Wright Pat copy has an aerodynamic shield plate over the front of the cannon. I guess they decided it didn't help much, and less is better, that gun weighs 4,000 pounds...
  11. I ordered a half dozen GWR plates on November 28th, they were in my mailbox stateside by Christmas. Took advantage of the New Years Eve sale, another half dozen GWR plates ordered. The cart was broke though, it was a BREXIT thing, it could not calculate international postage. A quick exchange of emails with Jim and they were in the post shortly thereafter. Five stars from me for responsiveness, delivering quickly during the Christmas rush, and during a pandemic no less.

  13. So where is that container? It has been almost a month since the news they wouldn't arrive before Christmas...
  14. A Shooting Star and a Raptor at Langley Air Force Base.
  15. Thank you, I may just go that route, I have a half dozen plates, batch production would help...

  17. Thanks Paul, I'd considered method two, the dry brushing, I'm not patient enough for method one. I was considering white paint on a mirror, spread thinly with a razor blade. Dry brushing sounds more controllable though...
  18. The Modelmaster Jackson Evans GWR Steam Number plate sets come with BR smokebox plates as well as the cabside plates. The smokebox plates have numerals that are brass coloured, like the cabside plates. Any tips in regards to painting the numbers on the smokebox plates white? I have decals, and I was going to go that route for the smokebox numbers, but the MJE plates are really nice, colour aside...
  19. I'm in the US, but this is a UK Plastruct dealer: https://hobby.uk.com/materials/plastic.html
  20. And Now for Something Completely Different... The shedmaster had to call in help to remove this trespasser!
  21. I've used PS-64 and PS-82 and really like the patterns. Plus, the sheets are 300 x 175 mm, much larger than the Wills sheets. https://www.plastruct.com/search?page=2&q=stone+sheet
  22. A few snaps taken by Dr Hickox on a trip to Australia during 1961. Dr Hickox had a PHD in fluid dynamics, he helped develop the Tennessee Valley Authority dams, then worked for the US Government as a technical advisor. 23. I'm outside the UK as well, and I've been really annoyed with those full screen ads, enough so that I am going to give firefox a go on my rmweb machine. The shine has definitely left me as far as chrome is concerned... Martin - the firefox tracking protection wasn't enabled in the version I downloaded in North America, but enabling the strict setting did the job. Thank you.
