  1. The photo on David Hayes website is also on Colour-Rail's website. On the C-R image, the colours are darker, and the colour of the sandboxes is a lot closer to that of the locomotive end. The roof is much darker as well. A power pole has also been photo shopped out of the Hayes website image and there is cloud detail not on the C-R image. The Hayes image may have been tweaked a bit, I have done the same post processing scans of iffy positives. C-R also states the image is Nov '58, not Nov '59. It just seems she would be a bit brighter green at such an early date. A tough call based on the photos alone. And John, that David Alexander kit looks great. Thank you for building it, otherwise we might not have gotten a RTR 10800! 🙂
  2. I'm seeing a poor color reproduction of a very weathered black locomotive. Granted the bogies do look black, but if she had been repainted green with the early crest, I would expect her to look fresher.
  3. I last ordered from Jim in December 2020, so just a month before you. I started this topic because my £50 order via paypal "friends and family" wasn't fulfilled. And this topic is actually a continuation of a previous MM complaint topic that ended up being locked. Jim ignored several of my international letters, and was quick to promise immediate shipping during a couple of expensive international calls. The day after I expressed the exact sentiment quoted above, I did get the plates I ordered with a couple of substitutions. If Modelmasters have something one needs, and they are the sole source, I could see placing a small order, but would not let any pay pal or credit card refund dates pass. I would not trust anything Jim says on the phone, he has a vast library of excuses. "Worst Customer Service" would be an understatement and personally, I would never order from him again. I consider myself lucky because there are numerous stories from people who weren't. I sincerely hope that Jim eventually delivers and you aren't out a substantial sum.
  4. Hattons had a similar pre-order price. Just received a message from them, due to a misunderstanding, they can't now honor the pre-order price, it has now gone to £143.65. That's the same price now currently listed on both Rails and Kernows websites. So it looks like these will be a bit dearer. My pre-order for D2861 states "sold out on pre-order", even though they are still listed on Hattons website for sale. We are still approximately 4-6 months out on delivery. At this point, Heljan probably know how many units will actually ship...
  5. Sorry, about getting shorted. The sets and full brakes are sold out, but there is a fair collection of LNWR stock left, especially if you are not fussy about dark / lighted. https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/siteresults?search/q/genesis LNWR
  6. This one caught my eye the other day, 16 September 1968. I have been looking at economy green Peaks, D11-D15, to match the TMC ones that are on the way. I believe D14 would have gone "economy" in 1966, so she didn't last long in service before this accident damage. Which accident though? I've poked around the accident report sites and can't seem to find a match... 45015 p by Steve Thorpe, on Flickr
  7. I ordered NCB and BR sets a couple of weeks back when individuals started getting their orders cut. Decided to pre-order a number of other items too. Which is good, the Heljan Class 02 I ordered is now sold out on pre-order. Hopefully I made the cut on that one...
  8. If they were landing soon, you'd think we would have seen some air freighted samples to drool over.
  9. That's a bummer and has me worried. The one "dark" coach I ordered, H4-6FB-901A, 6 wheel full brake tool van in BR breakdown train red is shown on my pro-order as sold out. When I search the Hattons website for H4-6FB-901A, it always defaults to H4-6FB-901AL, which is still in stock. You'd think I'd be in the clear with a March 2021 order date, but after what some others have posted, that might not be a safe bet.
  10. If you look at the cab door in the current CAD, it looks as though the cab back is two separate colors, which could indicate that that the model has two separate parts. So open or closed cabs might be one of the options...
  11. No, not yet. I managed to find proto photos of 7 of the 9 models being offered. I went so far as to post flickr links to all seven in a response to this topic. Problem was that even though flickr allows you to copy links, some of the photographers didn't want their images reposted on other sites without permission. So I deleted them all to avoid any controversies. The biggest difference from the photos I found at seemed to be whether the cab back was open, or closed with port holes. If that matters, it is a simple exercise to search flickr. Of course, if Dapol are only going to offer a closed back with port holes as depicted in the current CAD image, you might want to stay away from certain models...
  12. My preorders have not been cancelled. I suspect they now have accurate counts of what is to arrive in the next couple of months. If what you want isn't already marked as sold out on preorder, it is still available. I would not wait till they are actually in stock to express an interest. By then, it may well be too late...
  13. Just had a look and it seems that the mentioned sets have disappeared from Hattons website. You'd think they would still show and be marked as sold out. What were the numbers of the sets?
  14. That's a good question, if we are going to get different height chimneys, cab backs, etc, it would be nice to have that information up front, it would make it easier to preorder, instead of waiting for engineering samples...
  15. The BR database indicates she went blue in Nov 1970 after a fire. https://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?action=locodata&type=D&id=5369&loco=5369
  16. So what has put me off ordering a Heljan Class 25 is the lack of the diagonal structural framing behind the radiator grill. I haven't actually seen a Heljan 25 in the flesh, but the photos on-line don't show anything but a plain etched grill. Has anyone had any luck at replicating the diagonals on the model? I would think some plasticard behind the grill would correct this, but it doesn't appear anyone has tried this.
  17. The MM1 website states that due to illness, no orders will be processed for the foreseeable future.
  18. I can't find it either, just had a good search, that would have turned it up if it had been locked. When you find the topic in google the link gives the Euston message.
  19. In looking at the TMC rotating images above, it appears the Derby builders plates are both on the side at the B end of the locomotive. I am correct in thinking that the plates should be located below the driver's window on each side? That would put one plate on the A end and one plate on the B end.
  20. Check out the shot on the Shamrock at Great Bridgeford, towards the bottom of the page linked below. She looks like a working locomotive, on a nasty winter day. https://davidheyscollection.myshopblocks.com/pages/david-heys-steam-diesel-photo-collection-14-pioneer-main-line-diesels
  21. D0260 Lion would have been a regular through HW on Paddington - Birkenhead passenger trains in early 1962.
  22. I'm yet to find a clear photo of that water valve beneath the battery boxes. I used JLTRT Peak instructions for inspiration when I modeled that tappy thing on a Bachmann Peak.
  23. Point taken, "it" wasn't defined in Stewart's post. Just making sure we didn't believe there were traction motors in that DBT... 😀
  24. Technically, a US slug has traction motors, and gets its electrical power from another locomotive. The diesel brake tender is just a braking vehicle, there are no traction motors.
