Yes, I'm intending make parts so the entire warehouse can be built but I expect people will use the modules to create low relief back scenes or add a couple of panels to the sides to hide a fiddle yard. On the roof side of things I'll draw up north lights and a regulator pitch. There will also be windows that can be modelled with openings. I'd better stop procrastinating and get on with it! I'll be at Kettering so if you see me I'll have samples with me.

A while ago I was looking at modular warehouse parts and recently I was reminded that I need to be getting on with it. So a few minutes just now.... Parts cut out on the laser. Notice that the sill is cut out and is a press fit for easy building and painting. Tried for size. A blast of primer on the brickwork and matt black on the window. Brick details close up. I just need to complete the other dozen or so panels I need to make a warehouse.

Hi Barnaby, I use good quality MDF, ply or card and most of my kits are based on 2mm MDF or 3mm Ply so this means that you can paint without having to seal but I recommend that Halfords primer is used as a base coat. Red oxide can be used and once weathered down by the application of a runny layer of cream coloured paint for the mortar course tones can look very good. But you are able to paint without primer and so have fun experimenting. I'm particularly pleased with the London brick finish in my posts. The name of the paint brand escapes me but I'll edit this later once I remember. Painting the bricks singularly in acrylics without a primer is fine as long as you don't get the work very wet for long periods of time. To the warehouse components, I have several modules ready drawn based on the design in my thread. I wasn't intending to offer the modules for sale separately but rather offer the option for customer to choose the modules and design as they want and I'd cut them for a single one piece warehouse side. Some feedback on that idea would be appreciated. I'll get the sizes and work out some costs today.

Hi Barnaby, I am producing a modular warehouse based on a prototype in Manchester if it is of interest? http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/89331-my-laser-cutting-workbench-and-my-odyssey-in-model-buildings/ Post #17

I don't think you'll get away from plasticard and clay as these kits designed to be finished by the builder adding plasticard and clay! In the right hands they can make beautiful buildings. By the way I hear Intentio.co.uk make great 7mm scale models and have a pipeline of much more to come!

I think C&L have had supply problems but I believe that may be resolved soon. In the mean time I am very happy to help out. The direct link to my 7mm Sleeper range is here http://intentio.co.uk/7mm-track-parts/ if required. -
Those are shadows and more a smoke mark than actual cuts. Once painted you'll not see them. The laser is quite sharp even under the cruel maginification of the cameras eye. The rule is a 7mm scale rule to give some idea of the size of the problem. The laser can also be adjusted on the corner power if the material burns through.
