  1. Well I was thinking about getting one to bodge into a D.2017 in EXXXXS Maroon, but I really don't think I could do that now-these are absolutely superb in EP form, and I'm certain will be brilliant when finally finished.
  2. It’s your money and your hobby at the end of the day. And if you’re happy with a second hand V2 for £(x) rather than ~£200 for a new one, that’s your call. The latest and greatest doesn’t always mean the best. And assuming that’s USD, a NSW C38 with sound is around $700USD. And nowhere near Rapido levels of quality!
  3. 200 quid might seem expensive, but when you take into account everything including shifting dollar rates (factories usually quote in USD), time invested into development and a lot of other factors, this reflects what is in all reality an accurate price. The recent Hornby W1s for example are 200 quid RRP, and the A2/2 and A2/3 190 quid RRP. And just be thankful you don't model Australian. An equivalent locomotive would run well north of 450 quid down here.
  4. Who's gonna make the gravy now? I bet it won't taste the same. Just add flour, salt, a little red wine-and don't forget a dollop of tomato sauce for sweetness and that extra tang

  5. @KR Models It must be asked directly, will the design re-evaluation see something done about the door pockets/internal details? I think the comments posted after the comment by yourselves clearly shows that expectant customers find the choice not to do wagon internal details a let down. I will admit, myself included. Not to say it is why you did it or point a finger, but that is 1980s Hornby levels of thinking-internal details matter very much in this day and age of modelling, particularly for those modelling an empty run rather than a full run. The wagon has the potential to be a great hit and a real stand out of a much requested specific locale wagon-don't let yourselves down by not bringing it up to the standards that we know can be reached. You only get a chance to make first impressions once.
  6. Trigger's V2? Joke aside, a lovely story and excellent to see the locomotive not fade away into the background amongst all the other V2 options, but be refined and re-worked to allow it to continue on.
  7. Quite the big derailment on the Illawarra Escarpment yesterday morning. 39 out of about 41 wagons off, fortunately locomotives stayed upright and crew are uninjured. Plenty of diversions incoming. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-15/freight-train-derails-in-farmborough-heights-nsw/12984518
  8. Well some 6 years and a pandemic later, I was gifted a 90005 by some very good friends, complete with LMB sound file. And what a lovely model it is. Just awaiting the Mk3s to arrive, and then the DVT re-run to be released. Pictured on a mate’s Australian layout under construction, and alongside an Auscision Models 86 (8650-the Bo-Bo-Bo).

The two Prototype liveried cars might be ones from the 125 Group that were paired with 41001?
  10. It did pass I believe, but they were unable to get away from duties where they were for a look (about 20mins out from Didcot). However the input from yourself and adb968008 is very greatly appreciated. Anyhow, back to enjoying the photos from half a world away!
  11. Thank you for the correction Andrew-long week! And what a lovely shot of 526. A shame that she was scrapped after some lovely final moments on tours.
  12. I was half tempted to link that, but didn't want to clog the thread too much. 'A Steam Train Passes' is one of the all time best pieces of steam footage in my eye, and was filmed right in the middle of the NSW steam ban under a little bit of secrecy (Phillip Shirley to thank for that ban, just like the UK ban). For those unfamiliar with the locations, the shed right at the beginning is Enfield Roundhouse (composed of 3 houses), was in the middle of a goods yard which is in inner Western Sydney. The New South Wales Rail Transport Museum was housed there, but were kicked out by the Public Transport Commission to make way for a container yard that never quite materialised-once again, the work of Shirley and co. For those with 20 minutes to spare, enjoy this pacing shot of the first and last of the class (3801 and 3830) climbing a 1-in-30 grade up from the South Coast to the Southern Highlands. As can be seen later, this was shot out the back of a hi-rail truck!
  13. Long, long shot, but if it’s first heading to Wales and then back to London today, what would be the chances of running via Didcot? A family member is nearby over there and I’m sure would be interested to see it pass.
  14. Streamlining is an interestingly subject, and something only really flirted with down this end of the world. There were a few on different systems (the T1-style SAR 520s being the most numerous at 6), but it’s something that was never really needed out here. Apart from the VR S Class and Spirit of Progress in Victoria, there was never even really a matched train. 3801 is probably the most well known Australian streamliner, but this was never really anything more than a styling stunt-out of the 30 C38s built, only the first 5 had casings. Recently restored, I enjoyed chasing it on trial recently with a couple of friends. Nothing says dedication like a 3am start to chase trains....
  15. All good mate. Happens to the best of us!
  16. As per link: "The tender was attached to Class W1 Nº10000 7/11/1929, through rebuilding in 1937, finally losing the tender during the course of a General Overhaul (27/4/1948 to 24/6/1948)." The tender is now behind 60009 UoSA

Would then a PM not have been a better idea than opening the floodgates with an open topic?

If I were in a predictive mood, and not using things already mentioned: *BR Mk1 BFK *BR Mk1 RK (Dia. 700/original) *1951 Festival of Britain/U-type Pullmans (70 years since first run) *Streamlined P2 *New industrial locomotive. What that is? No clue. And as a train pack: 6000LA/Bulmers train pack to celebrate 50 years since 6000 returned steam to the main line after the ban.
  22. That may come later. Certainly they've done non-display models-the WCML and ECML versions of DELTIC spring to mind.
  23. I'll admit I could be mistaken, but I was basing my thoughts on the comment of "...the model is here, on the workbench, and ready for us to test". It is not unknown for a sample or two to be bought ahead for reviews before the rest of the models arrive for the modeller-or at least it's happened a little bit down here. Either way, I think it is at a stage where it is unlikely to be corrected now, but happy to wait and see. Of course, the arrangement may also have been different when the locomotive was finally finished, so there's also that point.
  24. Going off the video of the finished product, it does look like the windows in the rear of the cab have been missed, at about the 1:28 mark is where the gap opens up enough to see they are missing. An unfortunate little error, but hopefully something that can be sorted for the second production run.
